I know people that have been trying for two weeks to file unemployment insurance claims here in NC. Cannot process a claim online and cannot talk to a live person.

After state governments across the country directed their citizens to shut down their businesses and just kinda hope things worked out, a new order has been issued: everyone is to jump off a bridge immediately. Medical experts believe it's the best, most effective way to stop the virus. Assuming everyone follows through and obeys the order, coronavirus will be wiped out, according to officials. There are no bad side effects, as far as anyone can tell. A few people pointed out that it could kill everyone, but these people are anti-science and obviously hate their neighbors.

Just as a little diversion, thought I'd share my progress on the small greenhouse I've been building for my wife - almost all from salvaged windows and doors. Still a ways to go, but at least I can be outside while isolated.

Actually, shouldn't reparations be for the elderly, as they seem to be disproportionately targeted by the virus? Or maybe men, since they are targeted more than women? Back at you. In regard to being overwhelmed, I agree that it is one of the critical factors in the death rate. However, from what I have gathered from a variety of sources, I don't see, even in NYC, anywhere near the level that we have seen in Spain and Italy. I also think the lag behind of the rest of the country provides the time needed to ensure other areas never get overwhelmed to that point either. Hope for the best and thanks for the reply.

I have no idea if deaths attributed to the virus are inflated; however, it is an intersting topic. According to the data, approximately 85% of all virus related deaths occur in people with at least one pre-existing chronic condition - and many with more than one. Just off hand, I would think the virus would likely be the catalyst, or at least a contributing factor. I imagine It is something that will be evaluated at some point.

My advice has always been to take the precautions you are told to take. If you can find a post that says otherwise please let me know. It seems you and others, who have been so vociferous in criticizing Trump about not listening to the scientific information from doctors, scientists, and researchers, don't actually practice what you preach. This is not time to look at, analyze, and debate the data! This is a time to react purely from an emotional perspective! I don't want you or your loved ones to die from this virus. Of course, I don't want you or any of your loved ones to be among the 2.8 million people who will die in this country this year from a variety of causes - many of which could actually be preventable as well.

1. No, Bob, I have criticized people for fear mongering and dire predictions while offering no substantive data to back it up, and no willingness to engage in an intellectual discussion about it. I have clearly stated what I think will happen and why. I have provided data and analyses. 2. I clearly stated in the post you quoted, that I will be more than willing to admit I was wrong if the numbers turn out to be worse. 3. I have never minimized it. I have been very clear, consistent, and, IMO, rational in what I have stated. And, no, I don't think calming people in a time of crisis makes things worse. My experience is that panic, blame, and fearmongering are what makes crises worse than they should be. They have done things the federal government hasn't done before. That's not delusional. It's just a fact. And speaking of delusional, you seemed to have turned it into an olympic sport in your posts.

I have several thoughts on this, based on what I have read. My guess is that we will end up with somewhere around 35,000 - 50,000 dead from this wave. I also think far more people have already contracted this virus than we think. Virtually every legitimate source is saying approximatey 25% are asymptomatic and another 25% have minor symptoms that wouldn't even prompt them to seek medical attention. So, I think far more people will have been exposed to it than you think. In the end, I think you will see a death rate of total cases that is higher than the flu, but still below 1%. Also, I don't think it won't be too long before we have the capability of each person being able to be tested, as well as the development of therapeutic drugs/vaccines. So, hopefully we don't get hit with a bad second wave in the future. I could be wrong and, if so, I will be more than willing to admit it. My point exactly. If you don't know what information anyone in the government received in these classified briefings, regarding the virus, then maybe you should just STFU about it until you do. BTW, if you don't think the House Intelligence Committee received substantially the same information, then you are going to believe just what you want to believe regardless.

For instance, approximately 175,000 - 200,000 people die each year in this country from influenza, Pneumonia, and chronic lower respiratory diseases (and you can only imagine what those figures are worldwide). I wonder what those figures will look like when we look back at this year.

How many is that going to be? How many people do think are going to die in this country from the virus? I have asked this question of others who keep talking about all the people that are going to die. Please, go on record with what you think is going to happen here and provide your supporting data.
