The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
billsfan1959 replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don’t disagree with this. My original post was to someone wanting an indefinite shut down until the virus is completely under control -

it is absolutely proof of a Democrat not taking the virus seriously, which was what was asked and I responded to. Nancy Pelosi was aware of all of the information that Trump was on 24 February and she was encouraging people to come out and congregate. He asked for proof of a Democrat not taking it seriously. That was the sole point I was responding to. I think this qualifies.

I edited my post that you responded to. My point is not that we shouldn’t be reacting to these deaths in a different way. My point was how far do we go? My illustration of the millions of deaths that occurred in this country every year was to say that there are hundreds of thousands of deaths that occur every year in this country that are preventable. To what degree do we go to to prevent them? -

So deaths that occur in clusters are more tragic than those that occur continually? My point is, there are a lot of deaths that occur every day in this country that are preventable. To what degree do we go to prevent them? -
I have debated this in great detail in the COVID-19 thread. I provided a detailed timeline and an overwhelming amount of information and evidence to show that any "reasonable person" would arrive at the conclusion that Trump had no reason to take any action no other leader in the world had taken during the timeframe you are talking about. I am not going to rehash it here. pull up the thread and read it. I highly doubt it would make any difference to you. People in this thread had proven you wrong on several points; however, irrefutable evidence doesn't really mean anything to you if it counters what you would like.

Maybe they could wander over to Michigan and do a little part time anti-fascism activity against Whitmer - while keeping proper social distancing, of course

It may be the first time in their collective lives they have done something useful....

Only 1 or 2 million to go to reach your projections.... Yes, the genetic sequence was issued on 1/12. However, You forgot to mention it was accompanied with the information that China had only experienced 41 cases and that there was no obvious evidence of human-to-human spread yet. Yes the President should have known something about the virus on 1/21. Perhaps that is whay he formed the Coronavirus Task Force on 1/20. You are disingenuous in the way you present your information.

"That's two times as many standards," he said proudly. "Double is a lot more than single. Anyone who's ever watched a baseball game knows that." "Isn't that right, sweetie?" he said to a young girl in the front row of the crowd, asking her to come up and stand on the stage while he put his hands on her shoulders for the duration of the speech. "Well, looks like something has happened with Biden," said a CNN anchor. "For more details on this possible scandal, we go now to our revered correspondent, Mr. Cricket. Cricket, your thoughts?" The cricket chirped for a full three minutes, representing the full extent of the coverage that viewers would receive over Biden's sexual assault accusations. When he had finished chirping, they moved the cricket back into his cage for the next time they needed a detailed report on a Democratic scandal.

He clearly doesn't have a clue what the "military" does, how it operates, or how many people it employs... -

There are literally hundreds of thousands of people that die every year because of something that isn't their fault. You act like that is a novel concept. And, yes, I do know that shutting down the military is a stupid idea. We can agree to disagree -

Where do you stop? Do you remove every unheathy food item from society that contributes to the 750,000+ people that die of heart disease every year? Do you mandate forced eating and excercise regimens that contribute to obesity, which is an underlying issue in hundreds of thousands of deaths each year? Do you remove alcohol and drugs that contribute to 100,00 + deaths a year? Do you remove cigarettes and all other things that contribute to the 600,000+ cancer deaths each year Do you shut down the highways and take away cars that lead to thousands of deaths each year? Do we social distance forever, to stop the 35,000-50,000 that die every year from the flu, pneumonia, and respiratory infections? Do montior people 24 hours a day and remove any chance for them to harm themselves to stop the 40,000-50,000 people that commit suicide each year? etc... Right, so your answer is to leave the nation defenseless and put millions more people out of work. You are a clown
