  1. Of course it’s sensible to discuss the Steelers, because it’s correct to say that as it sits today that’s the single most important game remaining for our wild card chances. Still, it’s also correct that’s there’s 2 games before that which would make the Steelers game essentially moot if they were both wins. It’s definitely a long shot, but I don’t think the odds are near enough to 0 that it’s not worth discussing. If you figure the Bills have a 30-40% chance in each of the next two games, which I think is reasonable if not a bit conservative, that puts the odds of winning both at 9-16%.
  2. Giant pink letters that say “you can’t make this up” tend to be a pretty good indicator that it is, in fact, made up.
  3. I think the Ravens is probably the toughest game left on the schedule, even more than the Pats*, but still winnable. Being at home and coming off the mini bye will be to our advantage, plus it just feels like the Ravens will be due for a clunker. Neutral site on a Sunday I think we’d have a slight edge over the boys, but the short week at home plays to their advantage. They’ll both be tough, but I’m not writing either one off.
  4. Win the next two and the Steelers game doesn’t matter, other than for an outside shot at the division title if the pats drop a game or two plus lose to us down the stretch.
  5. Last week, for the first time all season I participated in the “predict the score” thread and predicted a win over the Browns. We won this week because I went back to not posting in predict the score.
  6. If Singletary did everything right from a ball security standpoint and both fumbles were just the result of great defensive plays to rip the ball out I might agree with the OP, but they were self inflicted. Those types of fumbles can’t happen at this level and deserve some time on the pine to think about ball security and calm the nerves a bit.
  7. I don’t know why, But it seems like we haven’t had a solid screen game since Chan’s offense for whatever reason.
  8. No to domes. Football is supposed to be played outside, period. Sometimes less than ideal weather conditions might force teams to alter their game plan, but that’s just part of the game. I know it will never happen, but I’d actually like to see the NFL phase domes out by banning new construction of fixed roofs and mandating that games in retractable roof stadiums always be played with it open.
  9. I agree it’s not that much different than the draft, but think the actively bidding cash part coupled with the fact that it would be new whereas the draft is familiar and accepted would set it over the edge in some people’s minds enough to make a stink about it. Edit: I personally think it’s a ridiculous comparison, I just anticipate it being made if this system were to be proposed.
  10. It’s an interesting idea, but too reminiscent of slave auctions for today’s hyper PC, SJW dominated cultural-political climate to have a shot at being implemented IMO.
  11. I was just thinking something similar. It seems to come from the perception that the Eagles are a good but underachieving team, but it’s at least as likely IMO that they simply aren’t very good. Even if they are extra desperate for a win, thats just as likely to make them press too hard, make mistakes, and psych themselves out as it is to make them come out gangbusters firing on all cylinders.
  12. Yup. I’ll take our .833 win percentage over the combined .531 win percentage of all those 300 yard passers.

  14. Fitz trying extra hard likely means he throws 2+ picks, so that’s good news for us.

  16. Not only was he the best player, but the fans loved him more than anyone else since Kelly.
  17. My old school side would prefer true sudden death, but I think the current NFL setup is a fair enough compromise. TD on the first drive wins it, but a field goal gives the other team one possession to tie or beat it.
  18. No. Not a fan of college OT, or hockey shootouts for that matter. OT in both sports should be sudden death played by the same rules as regulation IMO.
  19. The Little Pee Dee in South Carolina. It flows through some public hunting land. Sunday hunting on public land is illegal in SC, so this will be a scouting trip and I’ll go back to hunt the following Saturday. I’m hoping the kayak will let me get to some spots that the guys hiking in won’t be able to reach.
  20. I’m taking the kayak out to float down the river and scout some hunting land.
  21. Where we differ most I think is the Browns and Ravens. The Browns are terrible and to me belong in your bottom feeder group of fins jets skins broncos Steelers, although they might be the best of that bunch. I’m not buying the Ravens hype either. I think they’re a average team that will win a terrible division by default. They don’t scare me at all, especially with it being a home game. Dallas I think should be favored due to it being an away game, but I don’t think they’re a better team than us. The way I see the schedule 11 wins is probably most likely, and accounts for a stinker against an inferior opponent plus losing to the eagles, which I basically see as a toss up. 12 would be winning all the games I think we should and still losing to the eagles, and 13 would be beating all the teams I think we should and the eagles or one of Dallas or the Pats* 10 wins to me would mean we lost to 2 teams I think we’re better than.
  22. I’d have to re-watch it, but live and on the broadcast replay it looked like a textbook false start to me, they suddenly stepped backward into a pass blocking stance. How is that a shift instead of a false start?
  23. Me too. How do you miss the entire right side of the line taking a full step backward a full second before the ball is snapped?
  24. So what are the 3 where you think they shouldn’t be favored? I’m assuming the pats* are one, but what about the other two? I’m certainly not saying I think we’ll win em all, but I honestly think we’re better than or on par with every team left on the schedule at this point, with the possible exception of NE. I can see this being a 12-4, 13-3 type season.
  25. I think it was a bad choice, but I suppose you could justify it because you still need a touchdown either way, but without the 3 points you need a TD to tie and with the 3 points you need a TD to win.
