  1. A few things: 1) no matter what caliber you’re using, you shouldn’t be shooting through brush and branches if you’re worried about making a clean, ethical kill. 2) a .223 is legal for deer in many states, and capable of an ethical kill with proper bullet selection. It’s also popular for species like coyote and hogs 3) AR platform rifles come in lots of chamberings besides .223 if you don’t think .223 is adequate for deer or it’s against the regs in your state. 4) all this hunting talk is moot and a distraction from the real issue, because 2A has nothing to do with hunting, it’s about defense from tyranny. 5) listen to Beto’s argument against the AR-15. It has nothing to do with the firearm platform, it’s that the round itself is too powerful/lethal, and yet you’re making the argument that he only wants the AR-15, but not hunting rifles which you yourself admit are more powerful by your assertion that the .223 is under powered for deer. You have to have your head in the sand to honestly believe this.
  2. Doesn’t this belong in the Andrew Luck excuse thread? Paging @4merper4mer
  3. Even though it worked in our favor, I was pissed at how soft that roughing call was.
  4. No. Quite the opposite, in fact. It means our system is working as intended and protecting inalienable rights from tyranny of the majority.
  5. The song I posted explains it.
  6. This will never happen, but can you imagine the hysteria if Trump was impeached and actually removed from office prior to November 2020, but remained on the ballot and won the election?
  7. Paid down some student loan debt.
  8. Looks like the folks at The Onion have been reading @Deranged Rhino‘s threads about Mueller and the Deep State: https://politics.theonion.com/white-house-says-mueller-report-must-be-kept-private-be-1833813865
  9. Crossaints are more likely to be a distant memory if the Green New Deal does pass.
  10. Will be interesting if this makes it to the supremes. If it does and it’s upheld, this ruling could spell the end of many states’ restrictive magazine laws. https://www.nraila.org/articles/20190329/breaking-federal-court-finds-california-magazine-ban-violates-the-second-amendment
  11. Someone needs to make this an actual eraser/pencil topper.
  12. Swalwell should have been removed from office for threatening to use nukes on American citizens.
  13. I understand that was the point, I just wouldn’t comply.
  14. The picture looks to be a nerf gun, but the article states it was airsoft pellets. Kids shoot each other with those too, but they’re a significant step up from a nerf gun in their ability to do damage as far as bruising and possibly breaking the skin. Maybe it’s because I grew up around firearms and was taught to respect them from a very early age, but my biggest question is why anyone would agree to cower and have any kind of gun pointed at their back in a training exercise. As a kid I shot real guns all the time, but I wasn’t even allowed to have a paintball gun or play paintball because you’re not supposed to point a gun at anything you don’t intend to kill, and paintball reinforces bad habits in that respect that my parents didn’t want transferring to real firearms.
  15. The key word there is survivors. I’d be fine with former slave owners being required to pay their former slaves back wages for the time of their servitude. The problem is none of those people are alive today.
  16. A lot of it is admittedly because I’m a cheapskate, but it’s also relative to the seasons. I live in SC so our winters are pretty mild, and summers sweltering. 60’s in the winter is enough to take the chill out of the place and what I’m used to from growing up in a drafty old WNY farmhouse, and in the summer going from 100 outside to 78 inside is enough of a difference to feel nice and cool.
  17. Heat: 65 when home and awake, 60 when away or sleeping ac: 80 when away, 78 when home and awake, 75 sleeping
  18. I was more or less born into it. I was born and grew up in Rochester and while my dad isn’t a big football fan, a couple of my uncles on my mom’s side have been season ticket holders since the 80’s. I was born in ‘88 and have no memory of the first two Super Bowls, but some of my earliest childhood memories are Super Bowl parties at my grandma’s house with all my aunts, uncles, and cousins rooting for the Bills against the Cowboys. I remember my mom made me a sweatshirt with the Bills logo in puffy paint and glitter glue for the Super Bowl party (she probably still has it in the attic somewhere), and being too young to understand the concept of a championship and thinking the Super Bowl was just what it was called when the Bills played the Cowboys. I don’t remember too much else, but it was enough to make me a fan for life.
  19. Was he also funneling intel to the Chinese through Hop Sing? How do Adam and Little Joe fit in?
  20. Both. An 870 with a 26 or 28 inch barrel with interchangeable chokes for hunting, and another 18 inch barrel for stashing behind the headboard when not in hunting use is what I was thinking.
  21. I still need a general purpose 12 gauge to feel like I have all the bases covered. After that the want list includes a bolt action hunting rifle in .308 so it can use the same ammo as my ar10, a .22lr pistol for a range gun that I can shoot 1000 rounds in a trip without crying about the ammo cost, and the Ruger Blackhawk convertible single action revolver with interchangeable cylinders chambered in .40 s&w and 10mm auto. I also want to get into reloading which means buying a press and the associated tools and building a bench. I remeber you saying that you carry 9mm because you subscribe to the higher capacity is better philosophy, which is why I read you as the other man in the punchline.
