All the talk of the Bills being interested in Ellerbe, Kruger, Scott, Kellar, Smith, Walker, Devito & others must have been just a smoke screen or just plain BS ! B/C we are apparently just going to sit back & watch the Pats & the Fins get stronger & then just pray that Marrone is a miracle worker with the player we have left & the draft picks we get. It appears we will get our players from the draft & UDFA due to the fact that we have only made 1 addition & to this point have A LOT of subtractions !! I wonder who were the people saying or thinking the Bills were interested in all the above names mentioned or if it was all speculation ?? Or if they were interested but that as far as it went & the plan all along was to sit on the side line & wait till the draft & after to get there players on the cheap ?

NO NO & NO !!!! Next year yes spend every last pick we got to move up to #1 to get the Manzeil kid if he comes out but not this year !!

Welll if there was any kind of proof to the fact that we were getting better & had the good players still around to prove through good FO moves these type of threads would stop. But seeing as the Bills powers that be continue to do what they do these type of threads will continue . I love the Bills & a lot of times don't post things b/c it's says a lot of the same things but they don't give us anything positive to talk about . Last year the Mario thing was great then the D sucked , 2 steps forward & 3 steps back !! And this year we don't have any real cap room to do anything so we lose players & watch the Fins & Pats get stronger & stronger with our players we had to let go

This entire franchise looks like Tim Conway in the dentist skit on the Carrol Burnett show ! Everything they do they screw it up !! They sign Fitz to a outrageous contract in the way of cap hits & no way to get out of it with out looking completely stupid WAY TO PREMATURELY !! They on the other hand wait WAY TO LONG to attempt to sign Andy L, they let there 2 top tacklers & leaders on D walk in Wilson & Barnett, & they let a young, very productive Red zone threat (the second highest production on the team) in David Nelson walk . Not to mention the "Exhaustive & Thorough HC ing search" What a joke ! You have guys like Lovey that said publicly he was interested in the Bills job & Trestman which won back to back Grey Cup Championships & who better to make the Bills a home team in the Toronto series (that they never even tried to contact i might add !!) Either one would have brought immediate substantiality (or what ever you want to call it) to the organization. Then you add in the fact with the entire Fitz thing keeping Thigpen, letting Young a proven winner walk not given any time to learn the system, wasting a draft pick on a QB letting him sit INACTIVE the entire season then to top it off letting 2 draft picks in Asper (that could have been used to replace Andy) & Carder (a LB the weakest position on the team) go & to top it all of not drafting a potential QB out of what was right there for the taking in the later rounds last year meaning , Russel, & the SECOND QB that the skins took in the draft last year. Man i want to love this team & i do but YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID !! Who lets the one guy that made this team a 4 time SB contender stay in retirement & not even ask him if he would want to be head of football operations in B Pollian when he said how much he will always love the Buffalo area & said he wouldn't mind getting back into football HELLO !! Then you look at what the Fins have done this off season & wonder why we are at the bottom of the AFC east all the time ... It's a lost cause but the Bills are like crack i just can't stop !! Go Bills

It said in any number of articles that "The Bills along with 4 other teams were interested in signing Andy" but if you look at the offer that the Titans gave him i for one am glad & didn't think that the Bills would give him that kind of crazy money ! We have other positions that we can use that money for & be better served for it !! So hypocrite i don't think so !!!

Here's another part of this years offseason puzzle that i was just thinking about. This is something we can rehash a bit in this less than exciting time of Bills FA . Last year after the draft we had 2 draft picks that we let walk, after using up 2 draft picks & all the evaluation time for them they weren't thought highly enough apparently to put on the 53 man roster but felt were good enough for the practice squad. If the move of trying to put Asper, (now possibly the biggest lose with Andy being gone) trying to place him on the PS he could have quite possibly been the heir apparent to the guard position, but with another bungled move by the FO we will be trying to pick or draft another O lineman this year. Then there is the fact that Wood will come to the end of his contract next year & with Asper being a player that could play center puts even more of a emphasis on the loss of that pick. There were other players kept on the roster one being Morrison (which did absolutely nothing last year) or one of the other weak LB's that were kept around like a C. White or another O lineman like Keith Williams that Rumblings said was very limited in his athleticism that wasn't used would have been put aside to actually develop our draft picks we may be in a better position at 2 positions this year than it stands right now. Once again i know it will be said that draft picks are lost all the time but why are we stuck in this place & other teams get better & better ? Look at what the Fins have done they just jumped into the lead this FA period & will more than likely make a run for the AFC east championship this year & we will once again be 3 if not 4 in the division b/c of the lack of forward thinking in the FO ...

What have you done for me lately ??

I have a tendency to go with you on this one but i think we go with a Warmack & leave glenn at LT he would be able to start day one & the RB's would love him lining up next to Glenn. The rest of your post makes some good sense the WR corp is deep this year & i see us picking up a good player at that position & i think good QB developmental talent will be there in the later rounds. But if the masters minds at 1 bills drive draft like they give out contracts (which of late they haven't) it could be all completely different come draft day !!

I know that in the playing aspect of the game it is very much a copy cat league, if something is working other teams are bound to pick up on it & at least try it . So why doesn't the Bills front office do the same thing ? We've seen what bad & good coaching hires can do & been living with it for 13 seasons such as : Kay Stevenson vs Chuck Knox Hank Bullough vs Lou Saban Greg Williams vs Wade Phillips Chan Gailey vs Marv Levy --------------- So you know where i'm going with this !! Our beloved Bills have great fans, i think we have a good owner that wants to win, a great city to play for, a history to be some what proud of & with a history that you can look back on & learn from. With other successful NFL franchise & this being said copy cat league you would think that the FO would learn something , YA think ? Just look at a New England, Baltimore, Denver & other successful teams around the league & copy cat them instead of not learning anything and going back to the things that have failed in the past . The NFL is not only a copy cat league but it is a forward thinking league so why haven't the Bills FO just looked around & learned not only from other teams but from their past ??

Are the Bills talking to any body ? Or are they just sitting around talking to them selves ? Well i guess our splash was last year & that one will have to last for three years ... Is he any good any more or was he just getting to much money ?

Is he the one that makes the final decision on the contract signings ? Or is it Overdorf ? Or some one else ? Part of the reason i wrote this post was b/c i'm not sure who has that ultimate power ...

I don't know that this has been talked about or not b/c i take periodic times away from the site , but who ever is in charge of OK ing the contracts @ 1 Bills Dr needs to be fired ASAP !! OK they do the cap to cash thing & i don't have a problem with that b/c it usually keeps us out of cap trouble but who ever this person is they need to put a bit of fore thought into looking out for the teams best interest when it comes to the future of the cap !! I believe even with the changes that have been made in the recent past, the people that write & over see these contracts are the same ones that have been screwing up since way back when Derrick Dochery was given the freedom to walk with out any compensation at all . If they would have at least tendered him they would have gotten a low draft pick or something for him. Then there was the moronick contract extension that was given to DJ, only to fire him & then pay him for the rest of his extension . What good franchise makes these kinds of stupid mistakes with their money ? Maybe thats the problem they don't care b/c it's Ralph's money. I know DJ's contract didn't count towards the cap but it still shows total financial incompetence !! Then to end my post I will talk a bit about this years dilemma, if this person that over see's these contracts & OK's them to go through & be signed used there head more like a Ozzy Newsome or others in charge around the league we wouldn't have over $10 million going to a second string QB & not have the money to resign a very good top of the line OG . The End !!

WOW, sure am glad your not GM in the NFL cause you prove by this reply that you don't know talent when you see it !! Don't believe it just look at the dudes stats & winning percentage while in the NFL (or with the Bills i should say) especially in the second go round !!

I don't understand why there isn't more talk about cutting or firing the yahoo that gave him this contract !! That is where the true problem lies ! Who ever saw that it was such a emergency to get this guy under contract #1 & then to give him the contract that they did with what seems every thing in the contract benefitting Fitz & no out for the team that is who needs to be cut !!

I don't know that i will ever understand the thinking behind some of the moves made in the NFL. We all know that V Young has the tools to win, he's proven it & if you look at his win/lose record there is no argument. It's just some team wanting to invest the time to get him up to speed & play to his strengths, which I THOUGHT that was what Gailey was all about & was jazzed last year when they brought him in here. I thought with some time there was no way that he wouldn't be our starter, & if he was given that chance he couldn't have done any worse last year than either Thigpen of T Jacks b/c neither of them saw the field. With guys with the talent of Troy Smith out there I think he is just another Drew Brees waiting to get his shot but more than likely won't b/c of his height & not his talent . For teams like the Bills to keep & pay a guy like Thigpen for 2 years while others like Smith & Young are out there unemployed just blows my mind !! GO FIGURE !!!

First off let it be said i'm just rambling !! As you will probably see if you go any farther & actually read this post . Well it's getting close to the time that we will see our team along with others going after a bunch of players considered old in the NFL circle that can sill play at a high level & more than likely will some where. John Abraham, James Harrison, Bart Scott, & on & on. I for one would love to see any one of or all of these 3 players come to the Bills D, you talk about a immediate change WOW !! But if nothing else i would love to see Scott & Harrison brought in & keep Bradham on in our LB corp then use some of who we have now as depth players with these Vets . OK they might be from different schemes 3/4 - 4/3 WHAT EVER - but i can dream can't I ? And i just got to throw this in here , how does Takeo Spikes turn his head ? What do you do to get your neck that big ? My God the dude has always been that way his neck is wider than his head unbelievable !! I think there is a ton a veterans out in the FA market that if they could be had for a decent price could come in to B/lo & change everything about this team (not just the D) from the day their new contract is signed. I suggest going & watching "Ultimate James Harrison Highlights" on youtube. Who ever did that real has it together music & all, there is no references of the N word (which i hate) or any of that crap just intense all the way around ! If Harrison, Scott, & Abraham were brought in our D would be top of the line right now (heck bring in Spikes to why not ? (like i said i'm rambling) & these moves would put fear in who ever we were to play ! Add another decent DB & we would jump to the top of the chart in defense ! Of course we don't have that kind of cap room more than likely but this is strictly for my own personal pleasure & to here my head roar, i don't care about scheme, money, i just dream of the Bills D being the most baddest of bad when it hits the field this year !! Go get them Mr. Whaley make it happen ...

I agree wit you I think 2 QB's that we took JP & Trent could have been better QB's had they not had to go through what they did while here in B/lo. JP had what 3 different OC's while here, not to mention that every time the guy made a few bad throws they were benching him & then they'd put him back in, that for sure does nothing for a young QB's confidence !! Then Trent just didn't have a O line to keep him upright so he had to get rid of the ball & even when he did he still got tagged just about every time. JP had a gun & Trent although not as strong of a arm as JP got the monicker Captain check down & was ragged on which the fans here are stone cold & have no common sense when it comes to being rational about situations such as either of these payers were in while here. All QB's or most any players in bills fans eyes are to be Superman & carry the team to prominence in the NFL !! That's why JP, Trent, Kelsay, & others didn't have a chance when it came to public or fan opinion in a Bills uni ...

Wasn't Pears hurt most of last season ? The year prior he did a good job ...

Over the past say 7 years the Bills have taken a few players that have come to town as a player at one position & changed them over to another & a few players that have made the change & been fairly successful while doing it . The first 2 i can think of off the top of my head in recent years have been 1) Jason Peters, he came here as a TE if memory serves me correct & changed him into a pro bowl LT . 2) George Wilson which came to the Bills as a WR & they changed him into a pretty decent safety. Then there is 3) Brian Scott came here as a safety (right ?) & he has been used as a LB with a certain amount of success . 4) Fitz they have tried to make him a QB while he -- OH yeah he came her as a QB But what i was thinking with all the Leo hate surrounding him as a DB do you think they might be able to do the same with him & change him to a WR ? He has the speed along with enough moves to get by people, so would he have the hands to make the change , that is the big question ?? He has some understanding of how the position is played b/c he has to study how to defend them so would he be able to use his athleticism to go against other DB's & would his hands be good enough to make it work ???
