  1. Was thinking last night while watching the draft bat some point last week someone asked the question, if we didnt draft EJ at 16, who would you rather have? Well, with what I saw last night, I would have kept my 8th pick and drafted Mingo. Having Kiko and Mingo in our line backing core would be axing for this defense.

    Mingo was drafted 6th.

  2. A lot of teams run a cover 1, as well. The Ravens and Steelers ran varying types of shell coverages over the top to play up the strengths of Reed and Polamalu. Ed Reed was always the deep man. Steelers had Polamalu play the line hard with a cover 3 on many plays to let him play off the LOS.

Yup. We have been playing a lot of cover-1 and cover-0 the last few weeks. Every coverage is used it just depends on the situation and personnel.

  3.

I greatly dislike the cover 2. We've seen this team run it enough over the years to last me a lifetime.

Every team runs a cover two coverage scheme all it means is two defenders covering the deep halves of the field. It gives the corners some help deep. You can still blitz and have an aggressive defense.

  4.

What is people's fascination with Gailey. His offense was figured out about a third of the way through the season. Yeah he used screens well, so what. How does every forget how stagnant and terrible our offense was once teams started pressing our WR's and taking away the quick hitters, which were the only ones FItz could do consistently? The offense was absolutely stopped in its tracks once teams got physical with our WR's.

Our offense wasn't figured out our quarterback was.

  5.

Wrong. You need to put a burner out there to keep the safeties off the line. Simple as that. what I would like is to see Goodwin and Easley out there. Or Goodwin and Hogan. This was probably the plan before Goodwin was injured... so we wait.

    Didn't Easley run a 4.39?

He's 6'2" 220 and is a few tenths of a second slower than tj and looks good in practice and preseason. Why he doesn't get reps is mind boggling.

  6. I have seen plays where every receiver runs ten yards and stands there, I think the int on the pass to tj was one of them. Every time I see this play the defense has it covered perfectly and there is almost no chance it works yet hack calls again. Everyone and their grandmothers knows what is coming its so frustrating watching

  7. Hackett seems to lack confidence in his receivers beating man coverage. He also seemed to lack confidence in the O-line protecting E.J. This could be due to the fact Buffalo has no left guard. Those who feel anyone can play guard; that you do not need to spend a high pick on a guard, need to think about Colin Brown.

Additionally, E.J thows the worst deep pass I have ever seen and his mid level passes lack zip. Smith looked like the better QB today.

If he didn't have confidence in the receivers beating man coverage and the oline protecting EJ thAn why in the hell did he call so many deep passes.

  8. In my experiences at the ralph it is usually the opposing teams fans that cause the most problems.(jets) if the bills fans cheer and high five they complain to security. If their team scores they are pushing their way up the row and talking ****. At the home opener we had pats fans in the row infront and behind when the pats did something good they would try to high five and shake eachothers hands but try to hit us in the process and act like it was an accident. I have been to 20 or so games and 90% of the problems are caused by opposing fans

  9. 5 pd's on 26 attempts....when did mckelvin learn to do that? The story of his career was he was always able to stay in position and with his man but couldn't ever stop the pass.

He looked real good against the kittys last week

Coming out of college he was known for pass break ups just not ints. They also said he was the best man coverage corner in that draft and we immediately had him playing zone. I'm starting to think it was our coaches that were dumb and not him.

  10.

    Not a fair assessment, IMO.

The kid passed all his drug tests at Tenn Tech, seemed in interviews to have his head on straight. So why act like he is still a trouble maker?

Not smart enough to absorb a complex playbook? Maybe so.

Not football smart enough to hustle after a fumble? Unfortunately.

Still a trouble maker? I don't see how you justify that criticism.

I wish the kid well in his attempt at an NFL career.

I don't believe that you listened to or saw any of his interviews. Maybe read them. You could see he is very immature and was going to take a long time to mature if he ever does. His body language and eye contact shows that he was just saying the right things and he didn't believe what he was saying. His attitude and actions at training camp prove this. He was one of my favorite players in the draft and I really wanted him to make the roster. However the second I saw him talk I knew it was gonna be a very long shot as I deal with people that talk and act like him everyday

I'm not going to pretend like I know if the blitz packages were more or less exotic today. I didn't see a ton of difference.

Having 4 down line man and 3 lbs with little to no blitzes called was a huge difference. We opened the game playing a very similar D to last years. Corners playing 12 yards off the receivers on goal to go from the 6. it was very different. Idk what you were watching but it was obvious and you didn't need a microscope to see it
