Interesting quote from Nix last night: "You say well we haven't addressed the offensive line," Nix said. "But we want to take a guy we know can come in and help us. And if they can't, we're gonna go to another guy. If you take a guy who can't play then you've compounded the problem. Now you've got two who can't play." That sounds like he'd rather go get a LT than draft a project. Thoughts?

Stop the RUN, Run The Ball
Green Lightning replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Be nice to not to see our line pushed back three to four yards every damn running play. Maybe our safeties won't have to make all the tackles on running plays. We had to get big and we just did. -

I've been saying the same thing for the past month. People, fine if you want to bellyache and B word...that's probably your lifestyle and habit and fans like to B word. But don't make crap up to back up your BS. We had a thousand yard rusher behind a line that had rookies, free agents and sometimes acquistions picked up the damn week of the game. So B word all you want, but don't pretend to know about football than Nix - he's forgotten more than you'll ever learn. -
After three rounds, here are some questions/thoughts
Green Lightning replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
These are all valid concerns but you have to understand now that this team will not be turned around in a year. We had to get bigger and stronger on defense and we have. We have to gamble that Maybin can rush the passer as a LB. With Edwards, Stroud, Troup, Carrington, Spenser and Kyle Williams, we look to be stout against the run, for the first time in memory. Maybin, Poz, Davis, Mitchell, Nic Harris and maybe Shcbel will be good against the run and hopefully effective blitzing. Our secondary is sound. On offense. it's clear that is not going to get fixed this year. Barring trades, we may see a line of D. Bell, Levitre, Hangarnter, Wood and Green. Remember, a much weaker line last year still turned out a 1.000 yard rusher. I remain nervous about receiver, but there's only so much you can do in one draft. I like where we are going, but let's be clear, we're not there yet. -

Boo Frickety Hoo. Get over yourself. You think we're going to solve this all in one year? Those great QB's you liked lasted into the 3nd and 3rd round for a reason. They're not franchise guys. We needed to get bigger and stronger on the D-line to stop the run for once. I think we did that. We need to address tackle and QB. We can't do it all in a year. As for Spiller. We finally have ONE player on the roster who opponents may actually fear. The kid is a game changer and maybe the one weapon we have that defenses have to plan against. He can run, catch, return and score from anyplace on the field. That, buddy, is a damn good draft so far. We are far behind the rest of the division, but with draft, we are turning the corner. -

He's spent a life in football and has a track record of choosing some pretty damn good talent. You? -
Oh brother, aren't you the little cloud that cried. C'mon - that crap analysis can make any defense sound like crap. We got some good players today. Freaking relax.

Totally different builds. Troup can easily add some pounds and we need him only to be a two down player and have Kyle in on 3rd down. This kid outdid Suh bench pressing. He's built to plug the middle not to penetrate like KW. -
What did you think we would get this done in one year? Be real. We are making solid headway with solid picks who can play right away.

Ice...this is where I have to practice what I've been preaching on this board...gotta trust that Buddy knows what he's doing. He's plugged some of the holes we had. Are they the right guys? I don't know but they all have something in common - they are players that have produced for four years and are built for the positions they play. I feel we are getting better but it's not going to be a quick turnaround. It's going to take a few years but it will be done right. -
Huh? He's a running back.

Can't help it....Gruden is a freak but that was just plain fun to watch. The guy loves the game and CJ is a great sport. And BTW - can anyone on our team juke two guys on a sideline route and take it to the house? That kid is a gamebreaker!

Ut Oh, Nix Says We Are Keeping Lynch
Green Lightning replied to BenchBledsoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lynch is gone. Buddy's playing the game, hoping to get at least a 3rd for him or maybe package him for a player. You don't burn a 9 pick on a scat back change-up. He's our guy after he gets his pro legs under him. Won't take long. The kids a rocket and hitting him is like putting your thumb on a pumpkin seed. -
Charles Brown has to be the pick

Brown or Cody. I'm good either way. -
What is with the leaks?
Green Lightning replied to John Cocktosten's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting thread. PTR is closest to correct. Buddy had no intention of coughing up picks to grab Tebow. The guy has forgotten more about football and judging talent then the rest of us will learn collectively in our lives. He knows what he's doing and can play the smokescreen game with the best. -
It was a solid pick. If you have lockdown corners on all three receivers, your ability to shoot blitzes from all directions is greatly enhanced. I think this move will pay bigger dividends for them than any of their FA acquisitions.
-
The story makes a great point about CJ and Reggie Bush: " In fact Spiller and Bush are the only two backs in college football history with 3,000 rushing yards, 1,500 kickoff return yards, 1,000 receiving yards and 500 punt return yards in a career." Umm, that is incredible production. It seems we have an impact player that other teams will have to plan against. Now let's beef up our lines.
-
We dodged a bullet today. Giving up all those picks for a great guy, but questionable player is just stupid. There are lot of "winners" in college ball that never made it in the NFL. I think Tebow is going to be one of them. At the very least, he won't make an impact fo years. We need production for once from our first round pick and not anothe project.

BS....He's gone. But it makes no business sense for the Bills to say that heading into a big trade day tomorrow. You don't burn a 9th pick on a change of pace guy.
