Wow,trying to find some football in here. All the attempts at ideology being pure and applying it to the NFL is specious. The NFL evolved to what it is now and trying to fit the model into anything that makes sense in anyone's philosophy will end up with a thread like this one. Besides, if you look at what's happening in Greece, you'll soon realize the generational war has begun and the gorging boomers (me included in that age grouup) have financed the future of our kids to a point where they can't carry the load. So ultimately we will bankrupt the economic systems, whatever they may be, in our respective countries. At that point, football should be less expensive. So for the purpose of this thread, let's refrain from re-engineering the NFL via our personal views on individual and mass governance. Let's just use democracy. I'll start. Do we like the draft? Yes. Do we like free agency? Yes. Do we tolerate bloated owners and greedy players? Yes, as long as they they play the damn game and stop with the lock-outs and strikes. Play football. I vote we play football and refrain from social re-engineering of the NFL.

I gotta agree. Bell is the guy I'm focusing on. Woods will be our center. Then Urbik and Pears with Hairston emerging the following season. That said, questions around Urbik's lack of impact on a poor Pitt OL is puzzlement.

Alpha is a Fitz hater. No question those two picks but that's what gunslingers do. He gave us a chance to win when nobody thought we could. Let's sum it up: The OP is having a wishful thinking day about a player, but others point out that wishful it may be, but it could happen. But another poster (in this case jumbalaya) makes the point most agree with but just does it in a nasty name-calling way that many of the board a tired of reading. Let's see, this is representitive of about 2/3rds of the threads on TSW.

I agree on all points. Add to it a lack of quality instruction for Carrington and Troup and a soft, small and slow LB group and you got what we got. No way we don't improve this year.

I never understood the Ralph hate. He made some bonehead decisions but he kept our team here. That puts him in my HOF.

Crayonz......got me scratching my head. So if the D sucks and stays on the field for a dozen plays at a time that means all the good O guys we drafted won't see the field. A good D also creates points and gives the O great field position....why the Hell am I discussing this? Jeezy Creezy let's get the damn lockout over and talk real football.

Probably one of the dumbest articles I've seen. So Sanchez,Henne and Farve rank BELOW Fitzy. Fine. That means in the AFC East, only Brady is better. Whatever. Those stats are just crap to read while waiting for football to begin again. All I can tell you is when you get into the face of any QB they look really average. Brady, Marino, all of them. You pressure them and they don't look so great. This speaks more to our OL than anything else right now. It amuses me that so many on this board (and on this thread) get so high and mighty on "Fitz is not a franchise QB." So? He's better what was available to us in the Draft and Chan and Buddy will go get a guy who's better when and if they appear.

Grew up Buffalo but have lived in many other places for 25 years. Now I live just down the 90 in Rochester. The Bills are just part of who I am and nothing can displace them. It's kinda weird when I consider how much real estate the team occupies in my thoughts. I'm on this board a couple of times a day. The first time I heard the term "Bills Nation" I knew I belonged and would forever.

Interesting point on how the Bills will be less affected by the lock-out than many other teams. It was nice to read a straight up piece on the Bills instead of the usual sneering and dissing we often receive. Thanks for posting.
