  1. I was for keeping Woods when keeping Woods wasn't cool.
  2. Not clear on the notion of trading Woods. He's young and improving and a great #2 reciever on a rookie contract. This could be his breakout year with all of the attention being likely focused on Sammy, Percy, Clay and Shady.
  3. Been following the team since 1963 and have seen all of our RB's. Here's my list. 1) OJ 2) Thurman 3) Cribbs 4) Cookie 5) Freddy 6) Tie: the troublesome trio - Bell, Henry, Lynch You could say all OJ could do is run, well all Rembrandt could do was paint. OJ could catch, in fact they wanted to make him a reciever his rookie year. But why bother throwing it to him when he shredded defenses as a runner?
  4. Don't forget that Clay and Percy can run out of the backfield. Shady and Fred are going to be passing targets as well. These are all versatile playmakers. It's going to be hard to keep them all happy, especially if we are not winning.
  5. EJ's faults may be correctible. Look for him to compete for the starting job. imo
  6. Why such extremism? I don't read where anyone hates EJ. Many says he sucks, and last year he did. His recievers did quit on him as he couldn't deliver an accurate pass, missed them consistently when they were open or nearly got them killed with bad ball placement. He made poor decisions and wasn't, by his own admission, a leader. Saying that ain't hate. It may be fan rancor and harsh, but not hate. There are more than two camps (pro/anti) on EJ. I'm in the camp that believes people can improve and there's ready examples league-wide and right here in Buffalo. (see Jerry Hughes) So let's see what better coaches and a year to contemplate the nuances will do for him. That said, until he produces under fire, you have to consider Cassel the starter.
  7. This sums it up. If he has developed to the point where he can make a read, believe in his instincts and deliver an accurate ball, the sky's the limit. He just hasn't shown it yet and until he does I have to believe Cassel starts.
  8. Yup. That's what I meant but sucked at articulating. All true. If this year pans out this conversation will be more than moot.
  9. We'll see next year. If these signings pan out and we can sign our core guys next year - it's fine. If not, it's not. It's a bit of a concern as the history of teams that sign a lot of high priced talent in FA usually doesn't pan out. But with this coaching staff and FO, and a well thought out plan, this could be the exception!
  10. Maybe Pete Carroll should have looked at that chart before making the call he made last game.
  11. I will always begin each Bills game experience with a silent "thanks Mr. Wilson."
  12. This. He is motivating Brown to show up with a chip on his shoulder.
  13. Fitz has no chance of connecting deep. Cassel can. I'd rather have Cassel. Either Fitz or Rainman's work I think.
  14. Goodell makes me puke. Given his track record on coverups, destroying evidence and botched player behavior decisions, he has zero credibility.
  15. Hell of a writer as well.
  16. Cassel starts. He's more accurate, can connect on the occasional deep throw and will have 5 receivers that can at anytime take a screen, slant or dump off to the house. EJ just can't set his feet to throw. I am ready to be surprised but not expecting he improves his accuracy. I wasn't very happy when we signed Cassel. But I warmed up to it after seeing all the moves the FO has made and they ain't done yet. My gut says Cassel starts.
  17. Props to the OP for a great football discussion thread. The sophisticated spread run first offense does speak to a QB that is a real threat to run. That would point to EJ. But it is somewhat perplexing that they sought out and signed Cassel. Why pick a veteran mentor that has a 180° different game than the starter? By adding all those playmakers, they have to know that there is only one ball and Shady, Percy, Woods, Sammy and Clay are going to want it. So just maybe they are going to opt for a QB who can deliver the ball and not be another designated carrier of it.
  18. Who cares? Let's just play, win and shut everyone up.
  19. Shouldn't this go in the "additions and subtractions to date" thread?
  20. Really good listen. You wouldn't think a receiver coach named Sanjay would expect his receivers to have a "hit people in the mouth" playing style but there you have it. Thanks for the heads up.
  21. That's why Cassel is here. Quick reads, short accurate throws amd hand the ball off. If EJ can be that guy, all the better but this is why Cassel is here.
  22. The parts that we've added are undeniably superior to what we had last year. What it comes down to is can Rex and Roman make these guys play together as a team. If they can -- Jeezy creezy what a ride this will be!
  23. I wouldn't care EJ runs or not. As long as he can hit slant in stride and be accurate. He's just not accurate. Let's see what happens this year.
