I have to agree. If you're a fan of the pass-first multiple skill receiver NFL
offenses then this hire doesn't bring the promise of bringing it here. That said, a power running team with a good quarterback, accurate quarterback and solid scheming has always been a good remedy for success in this league.
This whole thread just reminds me of what a lost opportunity for us last week. How can the Jags put up 45 points on a Steelers and can't get more than 10 against us. Damnit that game was so winnable.
Well that's my first blush as well , but we have ro wait and see what his scheme is. If I was the Bama OC 'd run the ball all day and let my man-eating D handle the rest.
Not happy about this. The guy is a stellar run-stopper and can develop his pass rush. He's had health problems but why give them away when he's ascending? I don't get this. Don't give the guy away!
Hey I'm with you coach. I want Smith but only under the proviso that they draft a young quarterback this year! Smith is here to groom him for the future and to give a solid quarterbacking in the interim. Wouldn't it be great to actually have the ball leave the quarterback's hand before the break? I live to see the day!
No, because he's not end game. He would be there to school our new quarterback and in the interim give us solid quarterbacking with accuracy and anticipation with throws. Something we sorely lack. I think it'd be a great scenario.
Groy's a Mauler and didn't have any business sitting on the bench. He's going to be a starter and Wood have slipped. What's wrong with having a quality back up like that on your team though. I know they extended him but in a flat out competition I'm anxious to see which one of them comes out on top.
