  1. Quick eyes, quick mind, quick release, quick feet . . . it amazes me that some of us are still unhappy and trying to get rid of Fitz. Someone said he wasn't the "sexy pick" . . . I guess . . . I mean, the wedding ring may be a turn off . . . but it seems like we keep looking for reasons to dislike him because he doesn't have the history of play like a Manning or a Brady. I'm not saying he should be compared to these guys, but he's doing what you want your QB to do . . . PLAY WELL.
  2. Being realistic about the dismal present and being optimistic and excited about the (now hopefully nearer) future don't have to be mutually exclusive. 3-10 sucks, we all get that. But, if you aren't feeling good about how the team is playing and the direction the organization is moving, you're trying too hard to be sad and Grinchy.
  3. The more touches the better - and just putting him out there in the slot demands respect from opposition Ds. It's not a bad idea and if he can learn the job to truly useful, you open another roster spot for a body at another position. Roscoe amd Evans are comin back so you don't need to work hard to find a full timer.
  4. For better and wqrse, I think our work against the Pats* was the wake up call that got that d@mn group moving their butts and playing like they are!
  5. Why start this thread then?? You're just giving that crowd a place to yammer on more and more. It's like asking the guy who's robbbing your house to hold your gun for you while you call 911!!!!
  6. HIs last line isn't idiotic. Yours probably isn't idiotic either, just rude. I wouldn't sign a guaranteed-number-of-wins contract, but I wouldn't be surprised if such things have happened. I doubt they're the norm, but since they're generally not public, it would take a lawyer with contract history specific to the nfl to talk with as much certainty as you're tossing around.
  7. Don't look at what the patriots are doing today. When you're on top you can play the game the way they do. Look at how they went from 2-14 to winners. It's not about one player, it's about building a winning TEAM. What did they and other winners do when they were losing to stop the losing? The BILLS minus Fitz plus Luck do not equal the Pats* + Brady! I know we all want to win RIGHT NOW, but losers lose because they think the difference between winners and losers is one God-given-miraculous-puzzle-piece. There are many differences, some a lot less obvious than others, AND it's usually those less noticeable, but quality pieces that make teams champions.
  8. Nice! I think that would draw a flag for cheap shot. . . . I'm pretty sure the comment wasn't, "I finally learned my very first thing about this here team . . . ."
  9. +1 One of the oddest NFL games ever -- it was like backyard football. The strangest calls and non-calls by the refs and the ball was flying around like it was greased. hard to get crazy about it -- it was like watching a friggin blooper reel.
  10. The Unknown Player You Need to Know This Week Kyle Williams, NT, Buffalo (number 95). At 6-foot-1 and 306 pounds, Williams is not the typical 3-4 defense run-stuffer; he's not the stout 330-pound type who just stuffs the run. But when Williams takes the field against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, Brett Favre -- and, more importantly, the interior of the Vikings offensive line -- will know he's a rare player. They could see that from watching the tape of the Steelers' narrow win over the Bills last week. Williams had one of the best games by a defensive tackle in the league this year, with 10 tackles, two sacks and three more quarterback hits last week. "He is not a typical anything,'' coach Chan Gailey told me Friday morning. "He's got unusual quickness and unusual competitiveness -- I mean, great quickness, great instincts, great competitiveness. That's what makes him a great football player.'' I said to the buttoned-up Gailey I haven't heard the word "great'' come out of him very often. "I choose that word very carefully, and I don't use it often,'' he said. "But Kyle's a great football player.'' Ten Things I'll Be Watching For This Weekend 6. The never-say-die Bills. I've really come to love watching this team. With no postseason to play for, the Bills, in order, have taken the superior Ravens to overtime on the road, the superior Chiefs to overtime on the road, blown a late lead to the playoff-bound Bears, beaten the Lions, scored 35 straight points to overwhelm the Bengals, and come within a dropped touchdown pass in overtime by Steve Johnson of beating the superior Steelers. The Bills are 2-9, and I know a few of their fans, and they're stupidly excited about the last five meaningless games, starting Sunday at the Favres. 11. Gotta feel bad for any fan base that loses it's team. Gotta feel good if it's not the Bills. If the Vikes go to LA, does that mean Favre will keep playing??????????
  12. Nix doesn't have to "know" all these dominoes will fall his way. All he has to do is knock the first one down and see how they fall. Assuming he would have been pleased if the he gets Rucker, all the rest is just gravy -- and an entertaining episode of Jesse Ventura's new "Conspiracy Theory". If nothing else, it's nice to see people give Nix a little cred for understanding the biz.
  13. Understand the sentiment, and agree that the NCAA is THE MOST HYPOCRITICAL organization on the planet -- However, it's hard to justify stealing a horse because the one you were given (earned?) isn't your favorite color. These scholarship athletes are treated like gods. The fact that their FREE $40,00+ education isn't their highest priority certainly doesn't justify a little sumpin, sumpin on the side! No matter how wacked the rules are, if you belong to a special club you should follow their rules. I'm sure it's a very difficult life for them to survive. Take the paddling and say "Thank you sir, may I have another." -- then count all your f'in money in a few years . . . Who doesn't work for someone who's making more money off of you than you get paid in return?
  14. Just one more reason to boo him and the Gints. You can't fix stupid!
  15. King has nothing but kind words for the Bills this week -- except for SJ, who deserves some grief
  16. I don't think the OP was comparing Luck to anyone. You can't argue that right now Luck is the obvious class of the class and #1 overall draft pick. You're not trying to say that you need a QB who can outrun your starting RB, are you?? That's a pretty high standard. If anything, the play is a good example of Luck's heart and brain -- he's undoubtedly a gamer. The stiff arm was as much an overplay by the DB, but you gotta give him credit for vision, strength and speed.
  17. What's the deadline to submit new uniforms to the NFL mother ship in time to wear them next year?
  18. 1 O'clock in the morning and this is what you're thinking?? I totally agree, but couldn't it wait till the sun came up???
  19. +1 +1 -1 Get taken seriously . . . Try having an opinion without insulting others.
  20. Ignorance is apparently bliss! You don't seem to understand the 1st amendment. Nor, apparently, do you understand that kids are being bullied and beaten for being different. Freedom of Speech is a protection from the govt., not from the people who hear you use that freedom so wastefully. It's hilarious that you are so eager to defend CJ's use of the freedom to make the original mistake, but you jump all over the posters who use their right to point out it was a mistake and congratulate him for understanding and correcting it. The real irony is that today in the US the Politically Correct thing is to sit quietly and watch as bullies and mobs run rampant over the rights of individuals. It's not politically correct anymore to speak out, instead we tell people to shut up. This thread stopped being about Spiller long ago. He made a small mistake, and kept it small. It amazes me how much name calling and intolerance has since been tossed around. It saddens me that there are still so many that think putting others down raises themselves up. And to those of you who think it's funny, you're missing the point. Intolerance and hatred is a cultural thing. It's the result of all the little steps we individually take. Check out the news stories where homosexual kids are beaten, killed or bullied into suicide. If adults can take it in stride, good for them. Kids can't. Our actions are heard and seen by others and passed around and around. Our kids see this and think it's acceptable to act the same way. The only problem is they don't have the developed buffers and boundaries that we as adults should have grown -- and their victims haven't built up the defenses that we as adults need to have grown. "Gutless turds" is an odd term when you're criticizing people for speaking out against injustice when the will of the mob is that they please shut up and go away. What's offensive is not that a single man used a single hate filled term. What's offensive is that we culturally accept and encourage this behavior through talk radio, anonymous forums and divisive politics. What's offensive is that adults are willfully blind to the fact that little problems, taken as a cultural whole, result in kids being bullied, beaten, and killed.
  21. Good for him! Stud as a young man then sad middle chapters -- nice to see the hopes for a happier future! :worthy:
  22.   It's simple. Winning is better than losing. Memories are better than dreams.
  23. Look, this isn't a crusade for me.

It's not about being PC. It's about protecting kids.

Respectfully, please check back and ask your friends if they would have had the same reaction in high school or middle school.

  24. No. CJ is trying to fix a mistake. Why would you or any other poster work to make it bigger?
