Well I can take solace in the fact that even though I want to reach through the screen and choke some of these guys, all of these bastards are suffering right along with me when the Bills lose! As long as I remember that, I don't hate them so much!
-
As in owing much of their sound to the "sixties". I swear, some of you just love to argue...guess what? So do I!
-
For the record, that argument is perfectly acceptable. The only two points I want you to get through that thick skull of yours is that XTC are first rate (pop) musicians and they are retro-artists. After that you can hate it all you want. I don't discrimate against entire genres (real or perceived) or decades for that matter unlike you. You sell yourself short when you dismiss things in their entirety and that is truly your loss. I can't open your mind, you obviously feel the need to put things into tidy categories, I guess drawing a line in the sand helps you in your us versus them mentality. I hate that this has become a shouting match because I can sense that you are probably a decent guy.

Hey MORON do you get that not every band can be clumped into a genre? Did you get that MORON? Do you like being clumped in with your neighbors when they commit a crime? Would you like it if I lived on your street and clumped you in with the racists down the street? Subjectivity is fine, but do not tell me that you do not like something based on the fact that you THINK it tastes and smells like something else. Again...one more time...because you are slow...XTC has more in common with the music of the sixties than it does with the eighties. Who are these other bands from the eighties than XTC sound like? They are a THROWBACK....MORON!

Mr. Rosenberg did you get the address?

I don't need a buddy to outwit you, ya clod. Chef and yourself miss two very important ingredients in this debate: 1. XTC and in particular Colin Moulding are well respected as "musicians" in a community of musicians. 2. They are not "of a genre", that is the other point that the two of you continue to whiff on. Had you brought a different argument to the table other than "they can't play their instruments" or "they are a middling new wave band", I might have respected it more. As it stands the two of you continue to talk out of your asses about a band that you know precious little about. It is much more amusing than it is infuriating. Keep it coming, we can burn through page after page for as long as you would like...
-
Really, you think XTC are "devoid" of talent? Some of you are just amazing.
-
You know your history, I bow to you sir.
-
I still contend that he is the most creative, but my loophole is that it is an unproveable point! Either break down and give them a chance or lets argue about a different band, this is getting boring. I can't argue a point with you when you are unfamiliar with the product.
-
Chef, those guys would play you under the table and make a believer out of you in about 9.6 seconds! I don't need to know who you are to know that if you met them in person and went to hang out at their homes with them you would be so "overcome" that you would not know what to do with yourself.
-
Wrong, wrong, wrong. Moulding is not better than Bootsy or James Jamerson for that matter, he justs happens to tickle a very happy place in my brain. And he would in yours too if you were familiar with more than say...oh, two songs...sound about right? Look, just pick up a few records and listen for yourself. It will make a believer out of you. Pack some credibility under your belt, understand their catalogue before you spout off.
-
Precisely why you are undeserving...please stop listening! You don't get it so stop trying.
-
Kind of hard to make that judgement call when you are listening on tiny ass computer speakers! Of course, one song should encompass every facet of a players ability, duh?
-
Thanks?
-
It means that they pre-date the eighties and have their roots in PUNK. Who said I wanted you to like XTC? I only want you to stop mis-representing them...in case someone else here might be curious about something other than "Senses Working Overtime". Many acts including (icons of the sixties) went through some sort of pseudo-new wave during the 1980's,>>>>>if they wanted to sell any records that is.>>> Listen to Press to Play from McCartney during that period. He adapted to the times like he always did. Does that make McCartney "New Wave" just because he happened to have singles out at that moment in time alongside Thomas Dolby????????????
-
You two seem to think I give two ***** and a shake what you think! All I said was stop lumping them in with New Wave. There is that so hard? Do me a favor and NEVER listen to XTC...OK? You don't deserve XTC....so DO NOT LISTEN! GOT it? And if I catch you listening I will come over and kick the dog**** out of you!
-
Nope, basing it on the fact that: (A. You are a "lumper"---you tend to discredit things wholesale (such as entire decades) not even at least cherrypicking something/anything. (B. You keep calling XTC "new wave" (that alone proves that you are ignorant). This band has been signed for 33 years dipstick! You sir are a snorebox deluxe, yawn.......
-
This guy is goofing, lobbing stinkbombs just to get a reaction, I know the type...usually, I AM that type!
-
You were more fun when you were refrencing George Lynch (actually liked that!)
-
At least you pulled the right clips, the other meatball thought I was talking about a metal band. And I was wrong about you Chef, I thought you were a bright guy, but you're not. You are an ignorant fool, a dog who sticks to his safe little dog trails in life. Have fun living in that little box that you have built for yourself. I already explained to you how diverse my musical universe is. I pity you frankly. You have good taste, but you are stunted... Finally.....I don't give a flying !@#$ if you like XTC or not... just stop clumping them in with "new wave". For a guy that likes "Blind Faith" and other bands that use real instruments, you'd think you could appreciate the fact that XTC uses real instruments too.
-
Oh ferchrisakes!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do some effin research before you comment!!!!!!!! XTC is a British group. You people are like blind monkeys trying to !@#$ a football-------have no concept of the subject matter being discussed.
-
Yep, I hate to say it but Chef is a Lumper. How can anyone dismiss entire decades as if there was nothing of any worth in them at all???????? If Chef and CG truly knew anything about XTC they would know that they are actually throwbacks to the 60's not the "new wave synth nerds" that they are confused over... Hey Chef, XTC uses real instruments>>>you must have mistaken these guys for Howard Jones!
-
Some of these guys on here claim to fans of classic rock, yet bash XTC and Echo, who are for all intents and purposes, the Doors and the Beatles respectively.
-
You are the fool who watched only the first ten seconds of the clip, and for the record I couldn't touch Moulding even on a good day.
-
What the F are you talking about Chef? XTC hardly got any airplay in this country....I think some of you boys are confused about who XTC is... I really do....I think we are on seperate wavelinks.
