I joined in 2010 and one of the funnier threads was the Mario Williams saga. The wide range of emotions, spies in numerous Buffalo-area restaurants, the Bills NSA division tracking airplanes and any and every vehicle Buddy Nix may have or currently owned. Runner up would be the rumor that George Seifert was spotted at the airport. Probably the first time I saw the "OMG Jump to Conclusions mat" pulled from the closet and used.

I wear a "classic" watch. It doesn't *track* anything but time and it doesn't do anything but tell me the time.

[Spoilers]Avengers: Infinity War[Spoilers]
dpberr replied to unbillievable's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I saw it and I thought they did a good job fitting *everyone* in this movie. Thanos makes for a compelling villain, perhaps the best of the Avengers series - he's not bad just to be bad. Since new Avengers are coming aboard, it makes sense that some have to fade away in 2019. (Ross Marquand from the Walking Dead is in this movie. You won't spot him though but he got the role based on his talent for voice impressions.) As a sidebar: How many Jurassic Park movies can they make? Every movie revolves around A) the island and B) dinosaurs on said island. -
In my completely "not backed by science" opinion, I think the effect you see is from pundit overload. It's just like watching too much cable news with all the talking heads. There's so much yelling, so much contrasting opinion, it makes people irritable and makes essentially what is a a human resources decision by a billion dollar company feel so personal. We are getting beaten to death with talking head opinion on television, radio and the web, especially around the draft. THREE networks televised the NFL human resources fair. Sports talk radio and reporters are primarily in business of instigating conflict, not reporting news.

Anybody else have faith in AJ Mccarron?
dpberr replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have faith in his ability. The potential problem will be creating a QB controversy that gets in the heads of both McCarron and Allen. Bills need to give McCarron space to succeed and Allen space to just watch and learn. -
Opinions on why we passed on Rosen?
dpberr replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Attitude. Rosen is no fighter and he's soft. The arrogance is a facade for that mental softness. Rick kid, born into wealth, playing football in posh Los Angeles. It's about as un-process as it gets. I don't like the Allen pick but he himself is a grinder. Had to work hard to even get to play for Wyoming. Middle class upbringing. There's mental toughness and work ethic there and willingness to do what it takes. -
I liked the old days where you had just two dudes sitting at a 4x6 desk that had a helmet, some note cards and an amazing array of telephones and telephone equipment.

Rob Johnson is still bitter after 20 years
dpberr replied to Sky Diver's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wish Phillips, Flutie and Johnson would all mend the fence, ESPN does a nice 30/30 on it and Flutie and Johnson lead the charge at a Bills home game. I was convinced the last piece was the necessary piece that had to happen to appease the football gods to end the drought. The football gods do not approve of a team benching a quarterback for a non-injury reason. We saw it again when Peterman replaced Taylor in SD last year. That hubris is severely punished. The fact that RJ still holds onto this in 2018 speaks volumes about why his career didn't go the way he and a lot of people thought it could. -
The Sean Hannity Show!!
dpberr replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
They are all weasels. After the election, I stopped watching the talking head opinion shows that have replaced the news - and feel a lot less stressed. I think each network is good at stirring up those basic of emotions and giving everybody the sense that the world is constantly on the ledge looking at Armageddon because it's good for business. If cable news went away for an entire year worldwide, the world would be a different place. There's no news on TV anymore, that's the irony. The media makes you work for the real stuff - the best you can do is read plenty of various sources and draw your own conclusions. -

RJ=Uncle Rico meme in 2018 -
Do you mean a character we'd like to be? If that's the case I'd go with George Peppard's Hannibal Smith from the A-Team. My favorite character of all time though is Billy Bob Thornton's Lorne Malvo on Season #1 of Fargo. Runner up is Michael Emerson's Benjamin Linus from LOST.

Fred Jackson wall of fame or not?
dpberr replied to Original Byrd Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. No question. -
Remember the scene in Breaking Bad where Mike tells Walt about the dangers of half measures? Fox and the NFL should watch that scene. Getting rid of color rush jerseys and photocopying your Sunday crew into Thursday nights are half measures to solving the problem: The NFL is the only entity that really wants Thursday night games. Fans don't want them. Players don't. Obviously above average sportscasters don't want them either. The best thing about Thursday night games- the little movies before them - will probably be polluted by some disaster that involves both Rob Riggle and Chris Hardwick.

Yes! Good call. When I was typing my post yesterday, I was thinking of who is the heir apparent to the Ermey/Dye wing of actors. Only guys that came to mind was Lance Reddick and Colin Salmon. Fortunately those guys are already in control of the "we need a 6'+ tall *black* military guy" demand.

Good Bye Gruden QB Camp, Hello Russell Wilson QB2QB series
dpberr replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After Rob Riggle, this is yet another guy the NFL is desperately trying to make happen. Having a current NFL quarterback doing this sort of show is awkward. This current generation doesn't know or care who his wife is and he's potentially competition during the regular season. There's no "IT" factor here. -
Need a military guy in your movie? You only needed two phone numbers for like the last 30 years of television and movie making: Ermey or Dale Dye.

I think part of the problem is that you have die hard fans who want to see 100% adherence to the written material and then you have writers who've added in their own characters, and now you have this toybox full of action figures and only 45 minutes to play with them all to make everyone happy. The Talking Dead show further exacerbates this problem because the writers and directors are often in a weird position of defending the story plots and arcs, something most writers don't have to do...so they try to make the fans happy. It is funny that Jesus was pro-harmonious living and now is pro-civil waring and Morgan goes from First Blood Rambo to "nope, don't kill anybody" 30 seconds later in a whole new show.

Gronk to be traded before start 2018 season - Boston Radio
dpberr replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he'll retire before that trade happens - like five minutes before. I don't think he has a problem sitting on the Pats Reserved/Retired list and try acting until the Pats give up and release him. He'll rejoin the NFL after a year off where he gets to pick the team. -
Above average finale. I am happy they *sorta kinda* kept it on the same track as the books. All that Oceanside plot work for 20 seconds in the finale? I thought that the Oceanside introduction there took away from the Saviors redemption with Tara. Before Season 8 began, Maria Bellow was cast to appear and she never did, as far as I know. Interesting. I suppose between her, Jayne Atkinson's character Georgie, the helicopter and the miles long group of walkers, the world will be bigger come Season 9.

One of his lesser known but better performances was in "The Siege of Firebase Gloria."

Should The Bills Let Richie Incognito Out Of His Contract
dpberr replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We probably should debate mental health professionals as hotly as we do quarterbacks on this board because the Bills appear to need the very best they can given the recent incidents involving Jones and Incognito. I think something has certainly happened with Incognito and the BIlls should get to the bottom of it before making any decisions on his contract. I doubt even if the Bills released him that any NFL team would sign him. Nobody is going to spend finite cap dollars on a guy who's clearly an emotional mess.
