A Florida State pass rusher in the 1st Round? I'm sure you're a great person but I'd fire you immediately as GM. ? Outside of Peter Boulware who flourished in a compltely different position, no pass rusher drafted in the 1st round out of FSU has ever been a success. I don't know why that is but there's a long history of FSU failure of edge pass rushers.

There is something about Gwendoline Christie that I just can't get enough of. I haven't watched a single episode of GOT or the Star Wars movie she was in but she's interesting, intriguing.

April Movies: Avengers, Shazam!, Hellboy, & Pet Sematary
dpberr replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yes. Somebody should have stepped in and stopped that disaster. I don't think Hellboy was mentioned once in *our* sequels we'd like to see list. You know, the authoritative list Hollywood should be constantly F5ing. ? -

Who clamored for a Hellboy redo? Was it a favor to somebody? The del Toro Hellboy movies were well done with pretty good actors and they weren't big hits. -
Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread

I have my doubts on Bernie's real, legitimate interest in being President, especially at his age. I think he realizes he's got a lucrative business plan concept in running for President with other people's money and then doing lots of speeches where people pay him money to talk. Ditto for Warren, O'Rourke, Harris. None of the candidates have that deeply rooted obsession with the Presidency that the Clintons had nor the "let's change the world" idealism that Obama had. That being said, Trump is 100% no different. I think he fully expected to lose to the Clinton machine, turn around and make lots of money writing books, doing rallies and "Statler and Waldorf"-ing President Hillary Clinton for four years. -
This building survived hundreds of years of French upheaval, revolutions and riots but couldn't survive Pierre and his ill placed welding torch.

However absolutely improbable, the White House and Congress have to agree to stop the inquiries about the 2016 election and move on to other topics. I can't imagine every President going forward having to deal with retaliatory Special Counsels, AG investigations, etc and that's the path we are all on. We will get bogged down in an endless loop of investigation where Congress transforms from the hard work of legislation which they all absolutely hate doing to a full time partisan board of inquiry which many seem to enjoy.

Thank you all for your thoughts. It felt good to read them. It was very difficult to do. She was a 16 year old cat who was in a lot of pain from a likely kidney tumor. I felt some peace as she passed because she didn't want to lay down because of pain, and had stopped eating and drinking. She was pretty dehydrated. We learned a lot about ourselves and our thoughts about death from our other cat who passed away at 16 from cancer. In hindsight, we extended his life probably a little longer than we should have. We pulled out all the stops in a desperate attempt to stave off the inevitable. This time around, we didn't want to extend life simply to extend it or to make ourselves feel better if it meant she'd just experience more pain. I think we all do the best we can in the moment.

Is Kelvin Benjamin's career over?
dpberr replied to The Bills Blog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's only his fault if it is the end of the road. All he had to do was exert maximum effort for one season to get a new contract and couldn't find the motivation to do that. He may have hated Buffalo but all he had to do was give it his all while he was here and then he'd likely be able to pick where he'd want to play. I don't know if he's dim, lazy, surrounded by poor advisors, or all three. -
What are your bold draft day predictions?
dpberr replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll make two: #1: One of the network shows will unveil some sort of "betting" analytics or data running in a ticker at the bottom of the screen because that's the next frontier for the networks - real time programming for the legalized sportsbooks. #2. If Kyler Murray is selected #1 overall by the Cardinals, it will be poorly received by Cardinals fans in attendance at a Roger Goddell is "walking to the stage" level. -
I think he's been surrounded by toxic people his entire life, family included. His life is a cautionary tale about giving your kids too easy of a life growing up. If they are handed everything, never experience failure, and never have to answer for their actions, they end up just like this guy. I think he's finally starting to get it but wow, it comes at a steep price.

What's the better strategy for the Cardinals?
dpberr replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Cardinals seem to be really into Kliff Kingsbury and I think that's the risky gamble. They are letting him decide the only #1 draft pick they've ever had in franchise history without coaching a game yet. He could be a terrible coach. They have no idea. Wouldn't be the first time the NFL ate a decently successful college coach for lunch. Oh, and he happens to want a quarterback who is an exceptionally risky pick at #1 too. It's either going to look like the shrewdest front office of the last 20 years or the worst. There's no middle ground. -
Is Quinnen Williams the next Dareus?
dpberr replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills should think long and hard about taking a player who shows inconsistent effort in the college game. It's why as a fan, I'm not enamored with Gary, Oliver or Quinnen Wiliams. None of these guys strike me as having that James Harrison or Terell Owens mindset. -
I have no idea what the Cardinals are thinking in drafting him 1st overall unless it's all just smokescreen to disguise what they really want to do. IMO, drafting a sub 5'10" quarterback who has a questionable commitment to football #1 OVERALL is a level of Matt Millen absurdity not see in a while. I can see Murray having a really bad first year, retiring, and going off to play baseball.

Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread
dpberr replied to snafu's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I think you'll see quite a few of these candidates bow out this month, quietly. There's no serious donor money (saving it for Biden and absent him, the next best one) and they aren't independently wealthy so there's only so much they are going to personally loan to the campain. It wouldn't surprise me that the big Democrat money stays on the sidelines in 2020 for the Presidentail race. I think the reason Biden hasn't declared is because this is a real possibility. -
My son has started rooting for the Fleet for whatever reason. Likely the only child in the school, perhap the county, wearing AAF merchandise. Gameplay is good, especially with the Apollos. Bad coaches are bad no matter what, Mike Singletary. The "budget" in the halftime show is noticeable. Lonely set. If the personalities were anymore vanilla, they'd be wafers. Outside of not having this NFL player thing resolved before starting, I think the AAF would have a better "feel" if they played in smaller stadiums. I'd take a fully filled small stadium over a half-filled large stadium. The Chargers played in a sub 30,000 seat stadium last year and the AAF really should have found stadiums around that mark. The only one that does is Georgia State Stadium (Legends home field).

There was no such thing as draft hats until 2002. It appears Reebok made them a "thing." Up until 2002, everybody was sporting the "main" cap for the franchise.

Buffalo politician: Why wouldn’t you renovate New Era Field
dpberr replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Erie County officials are worried that sure, we have this brand new facility in downtown Buffalo but now we've got a massive white elephant of a stadium in Orchard Park that we'll have to likely spend money to demolish. I think a big factor in the decision is if you're going to spend nearly 1 billion dollars to build something, do you build *just* a football stadium or do you build a facility that can do more than that? I think for the economics to work for everyone (owners and taxpayers) you are going to need to build a facility that generates revenue all year long and that's likely a fieldhouse of some sort with a lot less seats than the current stadium provides. Probably from the Erie County perspective, despite all the positives of a downtown Buffalo location, they'd probably like a new facility built next door to the old stadium and demolish the old stadium for parking so they don't have to foot that bill in the future. -
I was told by my vet and have seen it published several times that even though the emotional pain seems just too much to humanly bear, you should be present when it's time. You don't want your loved one to be left all alone, in the care of just strangers.

Which Prospects Do You NOT Want The Bills To Draft?
dpberr replied to BillyWhiteShows's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
*Absolutely NO Florida State pass rushers in the 1st round. I see you Andre Wadsworth, Bjoren Werner, Kamerion Wimbley, Jamal Reynolds, Reindard Wilson and even Peter Boulware (who ended up being a LB). All 1st round busts with the exception of Boulware who flourished at a different position. *No injury-prone wide receivers. IMO, Metcalf shouldn't be considered at #9 because of his injuries and I'd be concerned he's got way too much muscle being supported by those ACLs, MCLs and Achilles tendons. I'm ok with the Bills taking Jonah Williams if they plan on slotting him as a guard or center. He's an average LT in the NFL IMO, but likely a great to elite guard or center. -
The problem for CNN is opinion is cheap. It's inexpensive to hire people to just talk. That's why ESPN does it. Cheap and fills airtime and enough people find it interesting enough to watch and they are able to con enough advertisers to pony up serious $$$ to advertise on the network. It costs real money and real time to fly reporters and camerapeople all over the world to report on them. There's so much news out there (good and bad) that CNN could literally program an entire 24-7 week without doing a single bit on Donald Trump.

Noah Fant - trade down and draft a difference maker
dpberr replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In the battle of Iowa TEs, you really do have to decide between the superior athlete (Fant) and the superior football player (Hockenson). Personally, if I had to choose, I'd go with Hockenson because I think he will pick up the complexity of the plays, routes, blocking assignments, etc. faster than Fant will due to being the more experienced, well rounded football player. Hockenson won't have the hesitation Fant likely will trying to figure it all out. I think the athlete vs. player question at TE is readily apparent when you look at an Eric Ebron vs. George Kittle. Ebron is a superior athlete to Kittle but Kittle already knew how to run routes and catch passes when he entered the league. Ebron had to learn how to do that at a professional level "in" the league.
