  1. Why does everybody think it's *just* about Buffalo? I don't think Shanahan was going to work for anybody but Dallas and Washington. Shanahan needs a ton of money, and a desire to spend a lot of it (big spending owner) to be successful. The majority of teams in the NFL wouldn't fit his coaching M.O.
  2. I agree 100%. Given the injury bug has feasted on the Bills, depth at LB is a primary concern. It's one position that you could upgrade moreso than QB or OL through FA.
  3. The *successful* Bills teams have been built through the draft. Not free agency or trades for other team's aging players. This team needs consistent depth. You use free agency to fill out a roster, not as a cornerstone of the team. (the Redskins) That formula hasn't hasn't changed. I think the urge to rush out and get the McNabbs of the world is because we've crapped the bed with drafting the past couple years. We don't trust the front office. Perhaps Nix will change that mindset.
  4. There's no quick fix for the QB position. You either draft this year, take your chances with a FA or go with Edwards. In such a deep draft, I think it's ridiculous to trade away picks for guys like McNabb or Campbell.
  5. No way would I do this trade. I don't think we should be trading away decent players like Whitner and draft picks for a guy who's head is literally swimming for a bazillion different coordinators at Auburn and Washington, with a lack of confidence that holds the ball ala Rob Johnson. Pass.
  6. With his concussions? He'd be smart to retire, and live a long, healthy life. Same for LT. With the exception of perhaps Preist Holmes or Curtis Martin, no running back has had great seasons when he's past 30.
  7. Florio is off base, and wrong. Meyer isn't at UF to shape NFL players. He's paid by Florida University to win games. Lots of games, bowl bids and championships. All of those things equals money for the university. He's not going to mess around with the mechanics of the goose who laid the golden egg for the university. If Urban Meyer went and changed the mechanics of Tebow and the end result would have been a less-effective Tebow behind center, there would have been hell to pay from the administration, the all important money alumnus, and the fans.
  8. I think he retires. I agree, I don't see LT taking a secondary role with a team, regardless of striking distance to the SB.
  9. I'm surprised at the number of Pirates fans.
  10. I follow the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Antonio Spurs and Colorado Buffaloes in college football. I was a long suffering fan of the Pirates before their great years in the 90s and again suffering.....was a fan of the Spurs when they drafted Robinson in 87, and followed Colorado due to a family member who played on the team from 89-91.
  11. I'd think some of the Deliverance country in the US....where running water, consistent electricity, higher education, and stable employment are all fantasies, are worse off than the "bad" cities on the list. I'm sure hellholes like New Orleans, East St. Louis and Camden or Newark, NJ are very warm and inviting.
  12. I think if Lynch goes anywhere, and that's a big if, it's a draft day deal for a pick. Nix brought Cromartie to San Diego, but it's just not a position of need.
  13. I agree with Phil Simms's statement that McNabb was running for his life in those loses to the Cowboys. Despite all the names on the Eagles offensive line, it's not that good. Further, everyone knows that the Eagles only pass. It's a very predictable offense. If the Bills are considering McNabb, that almost ensures that the first pick will be a LT. Has to be.
  14. Joe D’Alessandris is all power. Old school coach.
  15. Solid hire in Joe D’Alessandris. I figured he'd be one of the coaches, but glad to see it official.
  16. I agree. His hiring strongly suggests a move to the 3-4 defense.
  17. Which quarterback reads the defense the best? Goes through the progressions? That's really the key. Pro-style offense experience is an asset, but I remember guys like Cade McNown. He came from a pro-style offense at UCLA but if his first target wasn't open, he was doomed.
  18. Pittsburgh native Brandon Marshall (Trade) AND Shawn Merriman (FA).
  19. I think Clyde Christensen is on the Bills radar screen. He's the one they are waiting to interview. Unfortunately, he's with the Colts. He fits what they are looking to do, more so than Frazier or Grimm. Christensen would bring along Metz to coach the o-line.
  20. I am glad too. It's fun to watch the "analysts" trip over themselves with the speculation. I don't buy into the "Buffalo is a horrible place to be a head coach" nonsense. I think that opinion is disseminated because the likes of ESPN and such have no "inside" source in Buffalo, and they are a little upset about that, since obtaining the scoop means they get a paycheck each month and they feel it's beneath them that they are relying on guys named Sal and residents of a suburb for any news on the search.
  21. I don't think Buffalo will make a big splash for a quarterback in free agency or in trade. I think they they will draft either Bradford or Clausen, and keep Fitzpatrick for a backup. If the Bills spend any money in FA, it will be at the LB and DT positions.
