Or, that the Buffalo politicians want to get reelected.
Or, that NYS legislature is even less intelligent that we give them credit for.
You make the call.
It'd be political suicide for the folks in Albany to use taxpayer money to upgrade the stadium without assurances. Politicians aren't smart but they have a keen sense of self preservation.
I'm probably in the minority on this issue but while the public has not been privy to the details, I've thought that the post-Wilson succession plan has been in place for years and this (upgrades to the stadium) is a calculated step in the process.
-
If the state of NY signs on to this deal, you know that the ownership issue post Ralph Wilson is not an area of concern.
-
I'm with the gang on this one. OLB should be the priority.

I'd enjoy seeing the Tiki Barber experiment proposed by PFT.
I think Best is done for the year.

Check your history. Beck most certainly played against Bills in 2007. He started, but didn't finish
You're right. Good find.
Such an insignificant NFL career that PFR.com has nary a mention of him being in that game.
-
John Beck could not beat out Cleo Lemon in 2007 on that horrible 1-15 Dolphins squad, whom we swept.
Beck was the backup to Lemon that season and the Bills did not face him. Until last Sunday, he hadn't played in a game since 2007.
I have no idea what Shanahan was thinking with the QBs this year. Going into a season with Grossman and Beck as your solutions seems like a desperation move to get yourself fired. I'm surprised he didn't go out and find Jeff Smoker or Chad Hutchinson or Ken Dorsey.
-
John Beck as a starter? That only means Shanahan dares Redskins fans to watch the game.
-
I feel the Washington game is important. Losing going into the bye, you don't want to come out flat and lose the first game after it. This team rides on intensity and emotion, and I think it would take a big hit with a loss in Toronto.
Washington with Beck at QB is a very winnable game, and we need all those we can get, regardless if it's in the conference or not.
-
He has an acute allergy to tackling football players.
Did you see what the Eagles want in return?
-
I wonder who the Raiders are going to cut to squeeze that new salary in under the cap.
-
I know a previous poster said he thinks the Giants game will cost us the playoffs. I think it may be a loss against Washington. That's a must have win after the bye. If we can't beat up John Beck...
-
Mangold is their MVP.
Without him, they lose that game last night.
The Jets are very beatable.

Seems like a moot point, the trade deadline is tomorrow. Gonna be tough to get someone in camp, evaluate them, have them pass a physical and sign a contract by the end of tomorrow. If we are talking for next year, I think it makes more sense to wait for free agency/the draft to see who we can get without having to pay/compensate another team.
...and that's why you might address the problem from another direction. You bring in Pat Williams, a free agent, can play either 3/4 or the 4/3 and he'll take up the linemen to give Williams and Dareus room to operate and create some holes for a linebacker on the blitz.
Quicker, doable fix than a trade, and you aren't asking Williams at 38, to contribute for an entire season.
-
Nobody is going to take on Freeney's contract.

My big problem with last night's episode is that in an emporium of *lightly used* rides, they stick with that busted 70s Winny.
An interesting thing I caught last night was that I had first believed that once you were dead, regardless of how, you were reanimated unless you were shot in the head.
I believed that is what Jenner told Rick in the season finale.
That doesn't appear to be the case with some of the dead people on the highway staying dead and not reanimating. (the hatchet man in the F-150)
The helicopters in the season preview also caught my eye.
-
How about Pat Williams? He himself won't rush the passer, but he'll create opportunities for the other guys.
-
I don't know why the Rams did this with the season effectively in the tank. Bizarre trade.
-
I'd support a change. I'm sure DW has input into the plan, but it's likely between ego and respect for the coaching hierarchy, that Edwards makes the decisions.
I'm not sure how that change in coaching would benefit on the field, but I'd be interested in seeing what would happen.
-
In the world of extreme possibilities, the only one on that list that would go anywhere would be Mathis.
The problem is that you'd pay out the nose to get a 30 year old lineman and then have to sign him to a big contract.
Mathis is productive, but how much of that productivity is due to teams having to worry about Freeney on the other side?
-
I don't think teams are planning for Chandler. I think the coaches saw a weakness in that KC game that they could exploit, and well they did.
And haven't since.
Outside of Week 1, he hasn't caught many passes. Nine for a handful of yards with no TDs.
-
Agreed. For whatever reason, the Bills coaches refuse to do what works two games in a row.
-
I'd be ecstatic at 5-1 but I'm excited at 4-2.
4-2 at the bye? Beyond my wildest expectations. Good job team.
-
Spiller finally puts it together as a receiver this game, and Gailey, once again, looks like a genius.
-
More interesting question is who do you take between Lloyd and Wayne if both are available for the same price?

Bad year to be a Saints lineman. Second one to retire this season.
