Here's my take FWIW. I have only had one smartphone, a Samsung Galaxy IIIS. Samsung products are pretty good. (I love their TVs.) Their phones can take a beating. The charging port wears out on them fairly fast and the battery isn't the greatest. Phone has a lot of bloatware, especially on later versions. I upgraded to an HTC One M8. I don't need the fancy camera on the M9. The battery life is excellent (and may be the best industry wide) and it's an all metal case with a 2014-era processor driving it.

SF FA guard Mike Iupati (update: going to Cardinals)
dpberr replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember the same discussion back around Mario time. At the time, I was in the camp of instead paying one great guy all that money, you could get two "good" guys. After seeing how Mario plays, I'm more inclined to bring Iupati in if I had to spend $9 million on a guard or guards. -
Any tablet owners have an opinion? My kid wants one
dpberr replied to BringBackFergy's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Another vote for Nexus tablets. They are well built, aren't as propreitary as the Kindle, inexpensive and can handle the abuse a kiddo will give it. -
From living in the Philadelphia market, McCoy had a radio show, was around town and arguably the face of the franchise. Not to mention he's only every played football in his life an hour or two away from home. That being said, that's a hurdle that has to be overcome. Buffalo isn't that "far" from central Pennsylvania, he's keeping his salary, and he's going to a rising team in a new conference where he will play a lot. You'd like to think cooler heads will prevail.

Has Dealer Doug earned benefit of the doubt?
dpberr replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trades are fun. Are you not entertained? Yes. I don't know why folks expect every trade to be a home run. Perhaps since the minor trade (at the time) for Hughes turned out very well? I don't think he's had any disasters with the trades. From minor to major ones, all the players are talented football players. As for free agent signings though, the Chris Williams deal will always baffle me. -
Bills to go in little-talked-about direction at QB?
dpberr replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ricky Ray. He's old but the CFL thing worked for us once upon a time. I wouldn't be shocked if they bring all sorts of guys into camp. A CFL legend like Ray perhaps, a draft pick, a free agent, E.J. and see how the pile sorts itself out. -
Pretty even swap in my eyes as both teams (IMO) address needs. I think another fan said it well. Heart says Kiko, Brain says McCoy.

The client with the talking toilet was comedy gold last night. Quickly becoming one of my favorite shows to watch. -
2015 Summer Movie Preview: Avengers, Jurassic, Pan, Ant-Man
dpberr replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Avengers:AOU will test audience patience and attention. Movie clocks in at nearly three hours and they are getting into Ocean 11 territory with bunches of actors and characters all over the place. The Mission Impossible films have all suffered from not having an above average or remotely entertaining antagonist. I'm a big fan of the Terminator concept and movies, but sooner or later, somebody has to come up with something besides "big mean computer keeps sending various ethnicities of Terminators back to kill THIS guy or THAT woman." Is the sequel going to be Terminator Justice league with Asian Terminator, Arnold 1984, Robert Patrick, Female Terminator and Tim Burton's former girlfriend Terminator ALL in one movie hunting various versions of John Connor in Los Angeles? -
New administration brings in their own guys. It stands a decent chance of happening. I wouldn't doubt that his camp leaked it to eliminate his trade value and allow him to pick the future team instead of the Bills. That being said, you'd hope the Bills have a plan because I'm not sure Jeff Tuel is an acceptable answer to the backup QB question. I think the only reason McCown is talking to the Bills because they've told him he'll start here.

Chris Mortensen's 5 thoughts on the Bills

ESPN is in the entertainment business. Rex Ryan is entertaining. -
The snow seems light by PA standards but the duration and severity of the cold seems unusual. It's to the point where it's barely 30 degrees out and you're thinking "hmm it's warm out today."

AP wants a new team; now reinstated
dpberr replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this were a logical problem with a logical solution, then yes, he'd just stay in Minnesota. For ego-laden star athletes however, it's all about "respect." However one wishes to define it. -

Have we talked about Buffalo being one of worst sports logos

What was the high water mark of logo design? 1980s? Has there been a great one since then? -
Ever get the feeling the ISIS problem is getting to the point where it's about to break containment? I do. I am more worried about ISIS than I am about al Qaeda.

I am in the minority for sure, but unless you're elderly and in poor health, not a single person should ever get a flu shot. I've received one flu shot in my life and it damn near killed me. I was a healthy guy when I received it and I got one because everyone said it was something really good to get. That shot gave me a highly aggressive form of Guillian Barre Syndrome (GBS) and it's chronic cousin (CIDP) and I suffered considerable paralysis. I was in serious trouble as the paralysis was moving inwards towards my vital organs like my lungs. While I was able to stave off the attack I've been able to walk again and regain most of my function, I have permanent nerve damage in my feet and hands and 15 years after the attack and countless terrible medicines and chemicals, I can tell you...you're never the same person, physically. I now have an immune system that's too strong for my body. I spend my days keeping it suppressed because if there isn't a bug to kill, it starts attacking itself like a bored cat. Obviously there's consequences to taking all those chemicals. If you like the head of hair you have, you don't have it, for example. Tinkering with your immune system is akin to tinkering with the frame of your car. You mess it up and it's never the same. Unless you're elderly or already have a compromised immune system, just be sick for a week. It's just not worth the risk. You can spend a week of PTO with the flu or years of PTO in physical therapy, endless infusions, pill popping and doctor visits.

I am considering purchasing my first AR-15 rifle. I've long collected handguns and shotguns but don't have an AR-15 platform in my collection. I was wondering who has one and your thoughts on what ones are good, bad, and just general opinions. I've shot 3Gun before borrowing AR-15s. However, those rifles are tricked out with optics, gear and replacement triggers, receivers and pistons to the point it's a custom made platform. For me, in the present, just looking for a basic rifle.

What do you think will happen with Jerry Hughes?
dpberr replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am confident Jerry Hughes will be a Bill because it's the most attractive place to play in the NFL if you are a pass rusher. -
Replace the motor for sure but don't go for the cheapest motor you can find. You do get what you pay for. Your overall systems aren't that old yet. You have plenty of serviceable life left in them. Depending on what you've got, you can get another 10-11 years out of it before you have to start thinking big $$$ on a system upgrade. For some heat pumps, it "can" be a DIY job because it's a relatively easy swap on some models. Also, as someone said, you get your heat back right away too.

CIA, Hollywood, Noregia and Murder
dpberr replied to Deranged Rhino's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I add this to the conspiracy theories about the Panama invasion I've heard over the years: 1. The CIA was concerned about Noriega seizing the Panama Canal since CIA ran drugs, guns and mercs trained at the School of the Americas through the canal; 2. The CIA wanted Noriega's drug contacts and trade as he was a competitor to the CIA's business; 3. Noriega and many of the colonels and generals in the PDF once completely in power, would reveal major intelligence and secrets regarding his/their role in Iran/Contra, the CIA, and both Presidents Reagan and Bush and probably would have brought down President Bush; -
3 Rules I want to see changed based on Yesterdays Games
dpberr replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amen to that. I think for playoff games, overtime should be a full quarter, period. I offer that rules about eligible receivers needs to be changed. The Patriots have weeks, if not months to design those plays yet the defense has at most a few minutes to figure out how to defend it and that's where the advantage lies. -
Doug Marrone is one very unusual man. Nothing he's done since the end of the season has made sense to me.
