  1. I found this article interesting in answering the question I had - is trading down generally a good idea? http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2013/04/noteworthy_examples_of_trading.html I don't trust a lot about the Bills these days but I do trust their current crop of scouts. I'd stay put at 19 and pick a player.
  2. There are points this off season where I wish the Bills wouldn't talk to the press for weeks at a time. This is one of those times. Less media "availability" benefits everyone.
  3. I'm probably the lone dissenter but I think free agency was the worst idea the NFL ever had. It has created a league of the "ok" teams. The NFL was better when teams could build greatness - keep players and build for the long term. Only the Patriots have been great for years on end. Every other team we think is "great" shows up in the Super Bowl every now and again or in a flash and then heads back to the rest of the ok franchises.
  4. I'm with a lot of posters on this thread - No to Floyd at 19. IMO, he's too lanky and thin. If he's getting eaten up by blocks some of the time in college, that will be all the time in the NFL.
  5. Teams that draft well have outstanding scouting personnel and their GMs are smart enough to listen to them. IMO, that's where the draft is won or lost. I bet that if you find out who was the scout responsible for pushing a guy like Tom Brady to management, he or she probably has quite a few other players that turned out to be a hit rather than miss. I think the Bills have assembled a strong scouting staff - perhaps one of the better ones in the NFL today. It's why I'm confident that whoever they pick at 19 will be successful.
  6. Interesting question in regards to stadiums amidst changing demographics in the US: Boomers and Generations X and Y go to games. Will Millennials and future generations? Or will they just stay home and watch it on television? Is there a new type of venue to build instead of a stadium? Are we assuming fans will attend games at the same clip and with the same desire as previous generations? Chart #4 caught my eye. http://www.sbrnet.com/Blog/July-2015/The-Millennials.aspx
  7. The last thing the NFL needs is ANOTHER team swimming in a deep ocean of debt. The league right now has several teams that have debt that is 50% or greater than their value.
  8. I don't see how he's worth that money. Their window has closed for a deep run into the playoffs in a division that's full of formidable opponents. Not sure you need to pay a coach that much for an aging 8-8 team that needs a full defensive unit rebuild that will take two years. They need a lot on that side of the ball.
  9. Some believe in the Lawyer Milloy Phenomena. Some don't. I personally think that with the army of statisticians and analysts team employ, there is very little valuable corporate espionage a player has these days.
  10. NL Central will be an incredibly exciting division to watch this year. I think the Cubs, Cardinals and Pirates will all be 90+ win teams. Again.
  11. Best Player: Josh Doctson, WR, TCU Bust: All of the sub 6'0 corners that will be taken too high in Round #1 Sleeper: Christian Hackenberg, QB, PSU
  12. From what I've read, he's an excellent tackler. I wouldn't be so sure he'll be the backup come regular season. I think he'll be in the mix for a starting job.
  13. I'd only worry about Bennett and Long if we're having this discussion a couple years ago. Both haven't done a thing in years and Bennett has gotten himself removed from three teams now. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see both cut before the season.
  14. When you were this kiddo's age, would you have wanted to be around your dad all day long forever? That would have been my worst nightmare. My dad worked in a laboratory. Lots of peering into microscopes and clean rooms. No snacks. No talking. And everyone wore ties.
  15. Yes, yes he is. Let the kid be a kid and do kid things. Hanging around dad 24 hours a day on the job is not healthy. What a weird story.
  16. The coaching hires concern me more than the free agency inactivity. I don't think any of the players that have signed elsewhere were irreplaceable.
  17. My bet is no "main" character dies but Alexandria AND Hilltop are massacred while Rick and the Army are out finding Negan's base.
  18. There is an ulterior motive to the NFL coming out and saying this. I just can't figure out the angle. I don't doubt a carefully, strategically developed one is there.
  19. This hire makes me feel 2016 is going to be a lost season. It adds to a growing pile of ominous things this team has done since the start of the football year.
  20. I don't think his release from the team had anything to do with football.
  21. He will sit out this year whether he likes it or not. No NFL team is going to touch him, especially with the specter of possible domestic violence. He has that year to clean himself up and get healthy. (e.g. stop being a drunk)
  22. Free agency is the slow burn death of the NFL. On a more local level, has it changed the fortunes of the Bills much?
  23. Since we'll be fully pregnant this year, everyone knows that when you have kids, you don't have any money. I think the Bills will be bargain bin shoppers this year, late in FA for depth. Just don't have any money to spend. Sure, they could get the Gilmore and Glenn situations resolved, but it's a small window.
  24. They needed linebackers last year. Bradham and Brown weren't quick enough to cover. I agree that linebacker is THE priority and in absence of drafting one in the first round, they better find some strong safety talent in later rounds to convert to linebacker.
  25. The Lakers are going nowhere with Byron Scott as coach. Nobody wants to play for him and he's got a weird plan for managing rookie playing time. It'll be interesting to see which team will rise to be the third juggernaut in the West behind GSW and SAS with all the new money coming into the league next year. I don't expect OKC or LAC to stay intact.
