James Toney challenges Marcellus Wiley

I just can't get into the mma craze. Yeah I enjoy watching the knockouts, and I appreciate the "athleticism and technique" and all that goes along with it. Just not my thing. I'd rather watch a good boxing match over a mma fight anyday. For the most part though Boxing doesn't have "it" anymore either. -
By this time next year, and this is just my opinion but Matt Barkley>>>>Andrew Luck

currently 6 foot 245 trying to drop down to 195-200. My heaviest was 322. Did the South Beach diet to drop the first 50lbs. Than lost the rest over a long period of trying to adjust my diet. Considering doing it again to drop the weight. I got really lazy after highschool refuse to let myself get that heavy again

Rank our Defensive Players Against each other
Stealth replied to Swift Sylvan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
100% agree with this. People discredit byrd strictly for the lack of ints. Honestly from the 2nd half of this year on it's arguable that Byrd wasn't our best overall defensive player. His tackling greatly improved, and he's gotten better in coverage. Again it's not always int's. The ints will come once we establish a pass rush. I'm not as high on Wilson as you and would Donte up to 4, but otherwise fully agree with your top 3, after that it's a matter of picking names out of a hat. I do think however if Davis is healthy he's our best all around lb for the 3-4 defense. Need to see more out of Moats. He flashed some pass rush potential and should get better in this area, with another offseason/training camp/experience in the system, his play recognition should improve as well. Pretty much think poz is a waste. Other than being a Bills draft pick, really dont see any huge difference between him and the rest of the lb's we have. Florence is our best cb. If we re-sign any of our own free agents this year it should be him and Whitner let Poz test the open market. The guy was no adequate replacement for London Fletcher, who is still a superior player, and will not be missed. -
If you could have only had one, which would it be

Bruce. I get the importance of having a top notch qb, but I consider Bruce to be one of the top 3 players at his position all time. Kelly not so much. So yeah in this case yeah Bruce. -
Probably throwing stuff at my sister from my crib, and being an otherwise terrible 2 year old

What he said. People who are comparing Von Miller to Maybin are looking at nothing other than height/weight, and not actually watching games. Like I said in another thread, the only question I have with Von Miller is can he handle coverage responsibilites, but outside of that he'll be worth drafting highly
-
There's no comparison other than size. Von Miller has room to grow, Maybin is pretty much maxed out. Von Miller has been a productive college player since his sophmore year, where as Maybin had a chemically induced "breakout year". Miller is a much more well rounded player than Maybin ever was. The only question I have with Von Miller is can he handle coverage responsibilites of a nfl olb. Other than that he'll have a much more productive nfl career than maybin ever will

Tommie Harris was an excellent player for the bears, he's more or less fallen out of favor in chicago. He had lost his job and his only sack came in wk 17 against gb. He played well vs Seattle, but he's been inactive for several games, and most bears fans I know want him gone and/or replaced

Richard Seymour, Manny Lawson, NNamdi Asomugha,David Harris,Kiwanuka, Ray Edwards,Cullen Jenkins,Pat Williams, Alan Branch,Paul Soliai,Aubrayo Franklin,Chad Greenway,Ike Taylor,Champ Bailey,Dawan Landry,Bernard Pollard,Quentin Mikell just to name a few

rofl @ comparing poz to urlacher. Unreal. Poz couldn't carry Urlachers jock strap

"My Danny Woodhead... That's not even a joke....I just think he's a good player...Like to name my penis after him"

lol this is another good one. Other than responding with the "Yup here I am" where do you go from there.

If we drafted Newton with the 3rd pick. Vince Young has a winning record as an NFL QB. No I don't believe he'll be the face of a franchise, but of all the bad things one can say about Young at least you know he can win some games. As Far as Newton goes, he was a 1 year college wonder, who would take at least several years of sitting before you know. You're wasting at least 5 years waiting to see if he's the guy or not, and if he's not well than it's back to square one, and before you know it you're looking at yet another decade of no playoffs.

I dislike when people say. "Thanks Chief" I'm not an Indian nor do I work for the fire department/military or any other place where there are chiefs. or "Thanks Boss" Unless I'm your actual Boss, I just think it's a degrading term to use towards yourself.

1A.Nose Tackle- Kyle Williams is a tremendous player, but he'll never be the kind of player that keeps lb's clean. He's great 1 gap penetrating dt. Great at chasing down plays and pushing the pocket. We need a space eater who forces rb's to have to bounce runs outside. Troupe may be a quality player down the line, but you never don't add talent becase there's an unknown. 1B-Defensive End- Stroud looks like an old floppy fish out of water. He's too easily neutralized. In his prime he was a great player. He's not meant to be a defensive end in a 3-4 alignment, his age has caught up to him, and too rarely flashes the ability that once made him great, and is just an overpaid name even if you move him inside in 4-3 looks. Dwan Edwards has to stay healthy, when he does he's a quality albeit not great 3-4 end but he's more than servicable the best of the bunch he's a keeper. Spencer Johnson is a quality backup he should never be a starter doesn't have the ability for it. Carrington is a complete unknown didn't see many snaps so its a ? mark. As a whole the dends had a lot of trouble setting the edge in the run game and were never a factor in the pass game. 1C- Poz is a servicable starter. He should be re-signed. Again not because he's a great player, but because losing him would make this even worse. Andra Davis when healthy is an above average 2 down thumper. Easily exploited in coverage, and yeah has problems staying healthy. As a pure MLB he's probably the best one we have. The rest of the group that the tend to move inside/out adoyle/torbor they're nothing more than filler 1D- OLBS- Arthur Moats flashed some ability towards the end of the year. His play recognition should improve with another training camp/preseason. I tried to pay attention to him. There's some nice dumervil like ability in the pass rush department. If he can hit that level tremendous. I never really saw him being blown out of plays, but a lot of times when teams ran towards his side he would over persue, and put himself out of position. With more time he could be a player. Merriman- All depends whether or not he can bounce back from injury. He says the Bills doctors finally recognized what was wrong with his achillies. Again he has to stay healthy. It's a boom or bust chance. If it booms we're set at olb. If it busts look forward to another really bad year from the lb core. Chris Kelsay has no business playing lb. That horse has been beaten to death, no need to continue flog it. I think we can all safely say that we have the worst front 7 in football. All these people with the exception of Kyle Williams are replaceable, but that's not gonna happen, so you work around the few spare parts you do have and hope for the best. I dont know how they're gonna fix the front 7 in one offseason, but front-back it needs to be improved. CB- I'm actually a little concerned cb will be our 1st pick. Mckelvin hasn't lived up to his draft status, and teams routinely pick on him. Mcgee has aged fast. Our best cover corner drayton florence is a free agent who will probably go elsewhere. Reggie Corner/youboty etc etc offer quality depth but for a position that not too long ago was a strength is fast becoming a big weakness. Now don't get me wrong I'm not in favor of drafting corners at the expense of improving the front 7, but I can see the logic behind it if the Bills go in that direction RT- This pretty much goes without saying. It was the weakpart of the year offensively. I'd like to see Wood moved to C which would leave us with a need at RG. I think with a year of being able to participate in offseason conditioning Bell/Wood will be much improved players next season. We need to get better on our inside running game, we just don't have the experience/players to be able to dictate at the LOS TE- I give up this fight. We all know it, the Bills never do it. So I don't expect it. It goes without saying the modern day importance of the Tight End position in the NFL. Just look at all 4 teams in the conference championship. One guy I would love to see is Martellus Bennett, who I wanted to draft back when we drafted Hardy. Kevin Boss another name that gets thrown out here a lot is unlikely. I know the Giants have Travis beckum as their #2 te, but can't see them parting with Boss who's a great all around player. Bennett has explosive Antonio Gates receiving ability and the potential to develop into a very good blocker. QB- I like Fitz what he did this year was admirable. He played his heart out on an otherwise weak offensive unit, backed by a poor run game, no rt, and often with injured/no name wr's and no TE. I'm not sold on him being the face of the franchise for the next 6-8 years, but I'll ride with him for another season. I just don't see anyone in this draft who's gonna offer an upgrade. As free agency is concerned, although I think Kevin Kolb will be a good starter, the price the Eagles want may be too high and too much of a risk for the overall development of the team at this time. A developmental guy I'd like to see brought in though- Dennis Dixon. RB- Yeah I'll say it. Spiller still has to prove it, and while I love Fred Jackson. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The guy flat out reminds me of Curtis Martin, in his run game, rec ability, picking up the blitz and his demeanor. However rb's hit a wall and Jackson is at that age when it tends to happen. The thing working in his favor is he hasn't taken that NFL beating that rb's who do hit the wall at 30 tend to have taken. I think he has another 2 years in him, adding a rb to the group would not be a bad thing. We lack a real rushing attack anyway, and unless Spiller proves it we'll be sitting here next year wondering if we'll waste another high pick on a rb. There's also positions like safety which will become a need should the Bills continue their horrible trend of letting servicable players walk and creating unnecessary holes. Hopefully this doesn't happen. Same goes for Florence at corner and Poz at MLB. Should be an interesting offseason.

Actually my comment was said in jest. I know I know the internet is words on a screen so it's hard to project emotion. I have no problem with Fred Jackson, he's my favorite Bills player right now. I dont even have an issue with twitter. It's more or less people like to attack athletes/celebs for the slightest thing. Putting yourself out there on the net, can have it's advantages, but it makes fan wrath, for any bad game just that much easier, when they have a target. As far as any contract issue goes. I couldn't honestly care less. The money Merriman is costing the Bills isn't costing me money. He's making chump change anyway for a guy who is what 26/27 and was once an "elite" player. As far as Whitner, he asks for a lot of the venom he gets from fans on twitter. I also would re-sign him cause honestly, while he's not Polamalu/reed/adrian wilson etc etc, he's a decent player on a bad defense, and if there's one thing this team has done worse than draft it's creating unnecessary holes, that we have to draft to replace, when we could just be re-signing our own players, and drafting to build a team.

It's kinda funny that not too long ago people were dogging the Bears for signing Peppers, who was the single biggest reeason for their rise back to prominance in the NFC, and their defensive standing. Good to see not everyone turns out to be a bum like Haynesworth

I'm not that impressed by Matty Checkdown. He has gaudy stats, and one of the lowest yards per attempt avg of all 32 starting qb's outside of Bradford, and I'm willing to cut Bradford some slack since he was in a horribly conservative offense and is a rookie. Go take a look at the difference in his stats as well in indoor and outdoor games. If I was a falcons fan it would be kind of alarming. Outdoors 6 76.2 124 219 56.6 1295 215.8 5.9 9 6 Indoors 10 100.2 233 352 66.2 2410 241.0 6.8 19 3 Yeah they finished 14-2 and his home record is outstanding, but when I think of franchise qb's Matt Ryan doesn't jump out at me.
-
I give it 3 months before ppl start turning on him, and attack him on twitter and want him gone from the Bills
-
To appease the fans yea. Honestly though I dont see any future franchise qb's coming out of this draft. I honestly even thought Luck was overrated. He reminded me a lot of Eli Manning physicially. I dont think he was the can't miss prospect everyone made him out to be. Compared to the last few years since 04 I wouldn't rank him all that high coming out of college. If the Bills draft a qb I think it'll end up being Ponder. Hopefully they don't waste a top 3 pick on someone like Gabbert or Newton though.
-
Mallett= a slightly more talented Derek Anderson. Comfortable throwing when he's clean in the pocket and can see plays develop and receivers aren't covered, a highly inaccurate, immobile turnover prone qb when he senses a rush/receivers aren't wide open. At the end of the day for Gaileys offense I think they'd be more likely to draft Ponder who fitz the mold of Qb's that Gailey usually has. Let him sit behind fitz for awhile, as the team around improves. I'm not saying I'm a ponder fan, cause I'm not, but I think he fits the type of qb Gailey would want, a lot more than Ryan Mallett. P.S- I should clarify I really don't like any of these qb's in this draft, and dont see a full fledged upgradce/franchise qb of the whole lot of them. Some developmental talent, but nothing that constitutes much of an upgrade over Fitz. I actually think wait a year and hope we can get Luck or Barkley.
