Eagles Sign Jenkins - release Bunkley
Stealth replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thought Brodrick Bunkley would be a natural fit in with Jim Johnson's eagles defense. Once Jim Johnson stepped down and ultimately passed away due to cancer it was not to be. In the right agressive 4-3 scheme I still think he'd be a heck of a player. -
Are the eagles the team to beat?

Baring a complete breakdown of their offensive system, they still have the fastest/one of the highest scoring offense in the league. Defensively their lb's and safeties are weak spots. They're not a perfectly built team but they should be very dangerous. It makes sense for them to stock up on corners, considering The receivers in the NFC EAST on Dallas/NYG, as well if they want to go to a superbowl having to compete against the likes of New Orleans/Atlanta/GB they have to shut down other teams passing games. Again not perfect, but they've made moves that will undoubtedly help their team -
Overpaying for an ILB who had 95 tackles 6 sacks and 2 interceptions and I believe a couple forced fumbles is the kind of thing you should do not overpaying tight ends and rt's and special teams players
-
Say what you want about Bush's failure to acclimate as a "running back" in the NFL he's still very dangerous as a receiver and kick/punt returner

The Meadowlands is ehh. I go to Bills@Jets game basically every year since about 93/94. To be honest with you you'd actually be surprised at the # of Bills fans who show up there. A few even recent times it's been a good 70/30 sometimes 60/40 split of Jets to Bills Fans. I've never had problems wearing Bills gear there, I assume Giants fans won't even care.

100% agreed. This is the very type of "bling/bling" era rap that almost killed the genere. Not to be confused with actual hip hop. Comparing this to the actual good hip hop is a disgrace

James Harrison... WHAT?!?!?!?!?!

Goodell should be ripped on he's the worst gm in pro sports. He's done nothing but repeatedly try to ruin the sport, and is nothing more than a stooge for Kraft and Jerry Jones -
I like the home uni's not a big fan of the white/white away unis. Would've looked better with white/blue ehh whatever it beats the smurf unis. Like em... don't love em

This and that's really all that needs to be said.

It Looks To Me As If Mr. Wilson.....
Stealth replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
this. NE isn't really the best example to use. They havent won a playoff game since 2007. Statistics gotta love em. Of the top 10 passing teams only 4 made the playoffs. Of those 4 that made the playoffs only 1 of them won any playoff games. And like you said without James Starks GB probably doesn't even go to the superbowl -
Or instead of looking at Spikes Sam Cowart, look at Julian Peterson a more similiar type of rush backer to Merriman. Peterson 2 years after tearing his achillies was back to being an elite pass rusher. Peterson from 05-07 the 3 years following his injury posted the following statistics. 3 sacks the year following the injury in 05. 10 sacks in 06 and 9.5 in 07. Also 5 sacks in 08, 4.5 in 09 and 1 this past year. Also from 05-10 has 16 forced fumbles and 3 ints to go along with his 33 sacks. Not all spells doom and gloom

What would you give up to get Luck in next years draft
Stealth replied to jkx2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be fair I've been saying the same thing for awhile dating back to last college football season. Landry Jones the talk around him is that he's every bit as good as Bradford was when he came out. He's got the size and the #'s to back up the hype around him. He'll be in discussion for the top overall pick. Matt Barkley is a talented prospect, who plays in a pro style offense, with a good feel for the game, and a good arm, and has gotten better both years he's played. I don't flip flip on my qb stances. Top overall/top 5 picks. If we're picking a top 5 qb I'd almost prefer the guy to be as good as Phillip Rivers, or I'd pass. I see Landry Jones and Luck on that level. Barkley is better than the likes of Gabbert/Locker/Kaepernick/Dalton. -
The rumors about supposedly strongly considering Gabbert had Dareus not been there worry me more, as I feel Gabbert is short lived for the NFL, and will be a complete bust. Where as I feel Newton as having a much higher ceiling than Gabbert, even though his bust factor is also pretty high, Gabbert's low td totals, and low ypa despite playing in a spread system in a weak defensive conference would worry me a lot more. All in All I feel when it comes to qb's the Bills identified Newton/Ponder as the top 2 guys they were after. We didn't get either and that's ok, as our defense should benefit from the attention it received and rightfully so.

But Walter says that the national media is all gonna laugh at us and we should've reached for an average qb

Any interest in trading for Flynn or Clausen?

I'd be interested in Matt Flynn. A huge no fn way to Clausen -

Nothing with Landry Jones and Matt Barkley also coming out next year. The 2012 qb class looks to be 100x's better than this years -

Most of whom I've bet never watched this guy play. It's funny to me. All these posts about qb's and I've yet to see 1 good reason for drafting Gabbert other than "He doesn't have character issues like Newton". There is zero in the way of actual game play/statistics that show Gabbert would potentially make a franchise qb. I'd honestly pass on both Gabbert and Newton this draft is too strong on defensive linemen to miss out for a project qb. Although push comes to shove Newton's ceiling is higher
-
Newton and it's not close at all, and I'm no cam newton fan 2010 301 475 3186 63.4 6.71 68 16 9- Blaine Gabbert. 6.7ypa in a spread only 16 tds and this guy is a top 5 pick? 2010 185 280 2854 66.1 10.19 94 30 7- Cam Newton. Not to mention his superior athletic ability running the football, out performed gabbert on every level in a much tougher defensive conference. Speaking from pure ability of what they've shown on the field Newton wins hands down. Gabbert and his Edwards Esque statistics can be some other teams issue.
-
I dont understand the fascination with Gabbert. He has mediocre ypa cmp % td-int ratio in a system designed to inflate qb's #'s in a weak defensive conference. Other than the fact he's tall, with a good arm and physical skill set, and accurate while wearing shorts the guy just is not impressive. I'm not in favor of drafting a qb in the 1st, but push comes to shove at least you can see the potential in Newton. What about Gabbert's actual play inspires confidence in anyone? This draft is too defensive line heavy and for a team who can use all the front 7 help they could get to forego that to draft a below average qb from the spread would be a monumental waste of a draft pick.
