  1. Tasker, Pike, Baldinger, Garner...we were loaded with special teams specialists back in the day.
  2. No, it was Daryl Porter. And dehaven is an EXCELLENT coach that I would GLADLY have back. He was a scapegoat from the beginning.
  3. Johnson and Hardy have potential. you know what ANY guy we draft this year at ANY position is going to have? Potential. That's it. Resign T.O. if it makes you feel better about the receivers. But we have much bigger needs. As for Jackson's age, perhaps I'd agree if he hadn't been underused his whole career. He hasn't had one whole season truly carrying the load in the NFL. He has some gas left in the tank. And speed? Speed? Bah. That's the most overrated thing in all of football. Quickness and agility...that's important. Straight line speed means very little. I'll take Thurman Thomas and Kenneth Davis for my backfield anyday, but neither guy brought speed to the table.
  4. Our WRs and RBs are fine. We have much bigger needs.
  5. Couldn't agree more. I remember when everyone was crying to switch to the 4-3 when we were in the 3-4. First off, alignment is not the end-all-be-all...play calling is and execution is. Second, stop following league trends and lead for a change.
  6. No way Tebow should go that high, no matter how much OBD might be drooling over him. YOU CAN GET HIM LATER IN THE DRAFT. If he's still sitting there in the 2nd, okay, go for it. But that first pick has to be used on either an OT or LB.
  7. Why is a thank you appropriate? He put a product on the field. He's not obligated to do more.
  8. Simply pointing out Ralphie's brilliant return on investment. Spend $.50 and make thousands.
  9. That letter cost less than $.50 for Ralphie to make, post, and send. How much were your season tickets?
  10. If anyone shoulda known Marv Shoulda known. I agree. But I really don't think even the Jets thought that Revis was going to turn into the next absolutely dominant shutdown cornerback. They thought he'd be a solid starter, perhaps like Leon Hall. But this dominant? I don't think anyone really knew he was capable of this level of greatness.
  11. That might just be what he was saying to the media after the fact. Could you imagine if he didn't draft Willis if he had the chance? Wow.
  12. It's hard to fault Marv on the Marshawn pick because the guy we pegged to draft (Patrick Willis) got taken one pick ahead of us. Marshawn was the 2nd highest rated RB in the draft at a position that we could've used an upgrade. Grabbing Poz in the 2nd sort of eased the pain of missing out on Willis (at the time). But, in general, drafting a RB so high is against my philosophy. RBs are a dime a dozen. Find yourself a fred jackson (there are lots of 'em) and give him the best offensive line possible. That's my take.
  13. Wait, you mean, maybe there's more to it?
  14. I'm not defending Marv, but did any of us know how good revis would be? I don't even think the Jets knew he'd be this good. Sometimes you stumble onto greatness.
  15. Is that it? Switch to the 3-4 and all our defensive woes go away?
  16. Just remember, this team not only needs to improve its roster AND its coaching, but it also needs to overcome the stigma of being a losing franchise. Even when we have good personnel and a competent staff, we're going to have to learn how to win games again. We're still a team with a weak psyche.
  17. I find it ironic that you criticize The Avenger for discrediting wins, while you're discrediting losses.
  18. We have a tendency to lose more than we win, every year. Hence the lack of postseason play.
  19. Fair enough. So we had 6 wins and 10 losses which meant we didn't even qualify to PLAY these teams in the postseason. Bottom line.
  20. If only we had Peters...we could be talking about addressing some other need (likely on defense) rather than OT.
  21. Sanchez surely skews that stat. You have guys like Palmer, Brady, Rivers, Romo, and McNabb in the losers bracket. Then you have Sanchez still in it. Kinda throws off the comparison, especially since Sanchez counts for 25% of the rating for remaining QBs, not 8.3% like the QBs in the losers bracket. Skewed much like the first stat you gave.
