Why Do the Bills Need a New Stadium ??
BigBuff423 replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm in favor of a new stadium, just a straight dome with the kinds of windows and aesthetics found in the new Minnesota dome. And for many of the same reasons. Today's generation doesn't want to spend the day out in the bitter cold in a snow storm. They want to be watch the Greatest Show on Turf 2.0. In their defense, I have a little girl and bringing her to a game in November when it's about 35 to 40 degrees with the wind chill coming off the lake and overcast is not exactly a day full of fun for a girl her age. It's also hard to really enjoy the game when you're buried up to your hips in snow and nearly impossible for a child. So, I like the idea of a dome for all the reasons listed above, I don't really care about the tailgating stuff good or bad, and I like the idea that if Minnesota got a Super Bowl, Buffalo could get one too. That would be truly great to see! So, count me in the, "Yes, the Bills need a dome" crowd. And yes, there will be costs....but if we haven't noticed, every damn thing has gone up and while its aggravating to no end...it ain't changin'.....so, we can hold on to our nostalgia at the price of progress and keep an antiquated way of thinking, or we can be progressive and accept that a new dome will bring fresh blood in terms of business, fan experience, and football experience for the next generation. -
Winless Teams in Preseason
BigBuff423 replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What's equally interesting is the year the Colts won the Super Bowl, they went 0-4 in the Pre-Season. So, the only conclusion in my mind to draw is that the Pre-Season has literally NO bearing on how the team will do in the regular season and it's only value is basically extended scrimmages, getting guys into game shape, evaluating players....and of course our all time favorite, ending guys' seasons prematurely with stupid injuries. -
And I'm all about versatility for the WR group, but Allen also needs to know how to put the right "touch" on the football for KB like Peterman did on the touchdown pass, leading the receiver and dropping it in place, and across the middle but over a LBer not just zipping it past them. I'm not saying Allen *can't* do those things, they're just other weapons in his arsenal we need to see at the NFL level in addition to his frozen rope throws and bomb attack. So, we need WRs who can do it all, just as much as we need a QB who can do it all.
-
IMO, the days of needing a true "#1 WR" have essentially passed due to all of the NFL rule changes. I'm not saying the Bills don't need to continue to look at WR, but honestly, I'm more about the Defensive Line / DE in the upcoming Draft as all reports are that those are the positions of real value and depth for 2019. Add in Kyle's probable last year, Washington being whatever he ends up being and Hughes being 30 and Lawson being a question mark as well....I'll take a DE / DT in 1st - 2nd, and keep KB if stays healthy and produces even modest numbers depending on his contract demands, Coleman, Zay and probably either Phillips or Ray-Ray that make the squad. Plus Reilly - yeah, you can find good to decent WRs anywhere in the Draft. In fact, many of the really good ones were not 1st Round picks; i.e. Antonio Brown, Doug Baldwin, Michael Thomas, Keenan Allen, Jordy Nelson, etc. And yes, I realize there are a great many good WRs Drafted in the 1st round, my point being you don't *have* to Draft one in the 1st. If KB plays well, sign him and extend him for reasons related to continuity and using Draft capital in the right places. Then Coleman, we'll see, and Zay needs to be healthy but he can play....you don't set the FBS record with 399 catches and forget how to catch. We'll see if the torn labrum made him alligator arm catches and if he can rebound nicely. Defensive Line - OLB - Offensive Line - with CB being a FA priority. TEs take several years to develop. So, if you're going to Draft one, you do so in the 3rd or 4th round - again, look at history. Tony Gonzalez was the last truly great TE Drafted in the 1st and if you Draft a player in the 1st, you're doing so with either HOF in mind or immediate contributor. Just b/c I know there will be people who ask for examples: Gates, Witten, Kelce, Jimmy Graham, and Ertz and Gronk were taken in the 2nd round.... Fans in contemporary NFL tend to overvalue WRs in relation to Draft position....the NFL doesn't. QB / O & D Line / LB, and then skill positions, WR-RB-CB.
-
Man...give it a rest. Wow....no accounting for how fans take a successful season and make it look like dog poo and then take a relatively good showing for the team in their FIRST PRE-SEASON GAME and make it look like a clown show....woof. In other news, the flat earthers have emerged from their dens of solitude.

Marcus Murphy: Looking Good for the 53
BigBuff423 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Murphy continues this level of play, hard to see him not making it to the 53 since he would be the primary behind Shady. Yes, Ivory would be listed, but he's not *that* type of back, whereas Murph has some Shady in him in terms of shiftiness and elusiveness. I really like Ford in practice thus far, but he went UDFA for a reason. So, I'd like to see how the remaining weeks play out, but if nothing else Ford should be on the PS and hope he can continue to develop because one thing the Bills have.....RBs long in the tooth. They need to have a young RB that knows the Offense and can step right in if someone gets injured. Personally, thus far mind you - I'd like to see: Shady, Ivory, Murphy and Cadet for STs and certain passing downs, then Ford to the PS. One other thing, we know the Bills will need to keep 3 QBs on the 53 - unless Allen shows the world he's ready to be Mr. Big Time. Otherwise, Peterman / AJ start and the loser is the primary back up while Allen develops in the background for next year and obviously he can't go to the PS....so that's 3. -
I was texting a friend during the game last night, and it is so hard to determine what the issue was for Allen and the Offense. I've said it in other places (including this board earlier) but it looked so much like his days at Wyoming, especially 2017. He was running for his life half the time, receivers weren't open, dropping passes or not putting in full effort as others mentioned Foster, and in general it looked like a fire drill out there. I'm sure it's easier for the coaches, but it still must be quite a challenge to evaluate where Allen is in his development when it seems everything was just a cluster out on the field. IMHO, it is near impossible to truly evaluate Allen without AT LEAST giving him the #2 unit to work with. We saw AJ and he did well enough with that unit - which by the way after the initial sack they looked quite good and I don't think depth on the O-line is as much of an issue as some thought it might be - so Allen should be able to do something similar if not better. Overall, it was a typical Rookie showing: signs of promise and tremendous talent and not just the arm and signs of needing more time to develop. But, I hope they give him the 2s in the 4th game for at least a Quarter or four series to see where he is truly at......assuming he doesn't win the job out-right which at this rate with Peterman and AJ, I don't think it happens nor do I believe it should. We all knew he needed time....with Peterman / AJ holding the spot, and presuming the Offense can continue to produce, there's no pressure to get him on the field too soon and destroy the budding star in Buffalo.
-
I do my best to try and hear each poster out and to read intently with what their attempting to communicate. Sometimes I misread something and misconstrue their intent or sometimes I just misunderstand what they're saying. But in your case, I really don't understand your crusade against Peterman. To be fair, I haven't really been a fan of any of the QBs on the Bills. Last year I defended Peterman not because I thought he was the answer but because Tyrod had about 3 games in a row that were well below NFL caliber and giving Peterman an opportunity to play seemed to make sense in light of Tyrod's play. However, after that everyone wanted to throw Peterman to the lions and I simply said, "Let's give it time and perspective...he's a Rookie". Then AJ came to town and I was thinking "Meh....we'll see".....and then Allen was Drafted when I would have *preferred* Darnold or even Lamar Jackson or Mason Rudolph in the 2nd or with the Bills' second 1st round pick...but, I trust the process so because to me it was well confirmed that Allen needed at least a year to be able to work on fundamentals, i.e. foot work, and grow into himself as an NFL QB, I was fine with seeing how Peterman and AJ play this out. I'm not on either side of Peterman or AJ - and I really liked what I saw from Allen last night despite what looked like a re-run of his Wyoming days with receivers dropping balls and the Offensive line not blocking well enough for him - but to summarily dismiss Peterman as a possible option at QB simply because you are thoroughly convinced he's incapable despite others with more experience and or knowledge, is the height of arrogance. Will Peterman continue to play well when the Defense changes things and Offense isn't so vanilla-esque? I have no idea...will he progress and show real signs of maturity and development in multiple areas? I have no idea....that's kind of the point though, right? We just don't know....let's give it the Pre-Season, practices in camp, and let the coaches do their job before we start looking for the pitchforks and torches. That's my only beef with anyone at this point.....before we build a statue for Allen or burn down Peterman's house....let's just give it at least two more Pre-Season games and camp to before we jump on either train of thought. Fair enough?

Hard Knocks 2018: The Cleveland Browns
BigBuff423 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I too was not impressed with this version of Hard Knocks and it's not just because it's Cleveland. Because, if anything this is a year when I *should* be more engaged and anxious about upcoming episodes. And you're right, if it weren't for the Coleman trade I don't think I'd watch...not sure. In years past like when they were with Atlanta or when they were with the Bengals and Rams, I really enjoyed it. IMO it's not the show, it's the the team....Cleveland could be a great story, but once again you can see the lack of energy on that team and if they don't turn it around, it will be another long year. I am in the group that thinks it will only take about 4 losses - 3 if it's to start the season - before Hue is shown the door unless by a miracle that 4th loss isn't until sometime in November. Otherwise, the moment Haley was hired, I - with just about every other single person, presumed Hue was just holding Haley's spot. Actually, I think Hue was intentionally brought back for just the reason that he could be fired and Haley given a sort of mulligan year so that it doesn't look like Haley is saddled with the mess. It would make sense if the idea is to build for next year. Tyrod holding the spot, Hue holding the spot, and the young team still trying to come together as a whole. -
To what has become the larger talking point of this thread, I'll agree with Hap and others in that I love stars who want to be in Buffalo. But it's the last part that seems to be missing. I pulled for Sammy when he was Drafted, despite going all the way up to 4 - at the time the Bills believed EJ Manuel was the "guy" so they wanted to give him a WR he could pass to. Fair enough, even though we can debate the cost of securing such a guy especially when we all knew OJB would still be there. However, Sammy was hurt and he complained about not getting the ball enough....Lynch was one run in with the law away from a serious suspension, Dareus - has been well-covered I don't need to say more....but all too often in the past the Bills have Drafted guys like Maybin, where all the fans said, "whaaaaaat??" or when they Drafted Donte Whitner with Haloti Ngata sitting there for the picking. When the Fred Jacksons and Kyle Williams' of the the NFL world come to Buffalo and show their heart and passion to play for the area, team and fans, of course we're endeared to them because it has always felt like it was Buffalo against the world. Some athlete relish that feeling and others, want to be in the constant spotlight and feel their path has already been blazed for them. Jimbo, Reed, Thurman, Bruce, Talley, Tasker, Biscuit, et. al. all believed in the cause and made it their mission to put Buffalo back into preeminence with the NFL. They bonded like brothers and fought like them as well but they rallied to the idea of them against the world. Today's NFL guys - not all of them but some of them - feel they should be treated like royalty rather than servants. They want to be catered to, shined upon, given privilege and preferential treatment....other guys, want to play football at any cost and love the game. THOSE players are immediate stars for Buffalo for all of the aforementioned reasons. Now, if a "star" comes to Buffalo with that kind of mindset, he would be embraced and beloved for all his days. The problem is, not many exist. IMHO, that's also one reason why there is such a split on Josh Allen. Those who wanted Darnold or Mayfield saw the gravitas brought to the game by their namesake. Allen was the underdog for many reasons but has shown love for the game, for the fans, and now for Buffalo in every way possible. WHEN he becomes a star, we will love him like we did with Jimbo and Edmunds will be beloved like Biscuit or Talley and Phillips will be loved like Kyle and Tre White is already becoming a local icon...if all of it continues, this team will be loaded with "stars" and ironically, NOT because of their Draft position but because they changed the fate of a franchise with their team first mentality coupled with their immeasurable talent.

Interesting Astro Tweet re: Beane
BigBuff423 replied to Johnny Hammersticks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The second part of the OP's question about an extension is fine with me considering how much room the Bills will have in Cap space beginning next year. The issue is the 1st round pick. I know the Raiders want a significant return, but they're not in as much of a bargaining position as some may think. Mack has already shown he's willing to sit for at least the pre-season and with a new coach, that's important. Second, he's in his final year of his Rookie contract and according to Spotrac he's due over $13 million this year. That's a big nut to swallow for the Bills and an even bigger one for the Raiders if Mack shows up late or holds out all the way up to the regular season simply because he won't be ready for at least a few weeks, but they'd still have to pay him. Additionally, Mack will be 28 years old in 2019, meaning while he's still young enough to be great for years, it's not like he's going to be 26 where a 5 year deal puts him just over the 30 year old benchmark. That means, with new HC Gruden, there may be some reluctance to making that kind of commitment. Raiders' salary Cap situation isn't great, but with the Bills they could front-load that contract for the next three years and be out of the woods just after he turns 30, making it easier to move on from him if his play declines or if he suddenly becomes injury prone. All of that said, I don't see how the Raiders trade Mack unless his demands are astronomical or he simply refuses to play for them. -
Hard Knocks 2018: The Cleveland Browns
BigBuff423 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMHO, it's been my experience that when a leader / boss / manager needs to tell a room of his subordinates that he's in charge, he's lost the room. Great leaders don't need to remind or tell anyone that they're the leader or head of the ship (so to speak)....great leaders pull people to them as followers like gravity. Hue was merely speaking to his insecurities and probably his anxiety about the potential of losing his job (which is almost a near certainty). Additionally, the loss of his brother and mother so close together leading up to the time of filming the episode, probably added to his shaken state of identity. Either way, his hubris and his inability to connect with his coaches will ultimately cost him the ability to lead the players which of course will cause more losses, no matter the talent, and then his job. -
I will disagree. You don't simply start a player, regardless of position, due to their Draft status. IMO, you Draft a guy like Josh Allen believing unequivocally that he *will* be your franchise QB but all of the QBs have their warts. They built the Defense to win this year and the Offense is coming around, see Corey Coleman, but they're still building that side of the ball. So, let Peterman (if it's him) lead the Offense as it grows and let Josh learn the nuances of the NFL game, get Daboll's Offense down cold, and allow him to grow. Now, if Allen is the best of the 3, then you play him but that's because he's better than the other two, not simply to find out how fast your new hot rod can go....it has to be what's best for the team in both the short and the long run.
-
I respectfully disagree. McD was asked a question and instead of side-stepping it or giving us all some b.s. coach-speak he said there's a time and place and now is not the time nor the place. Fair enough, IMHO. He didn't blast KB, he didn't call him names or single him out without prompting. He answered a question posed to him, honestly. I like that. And, I'm sure McD did have a conversation with KB privately and probably a bit more direct with some creative language in there as well. But something else we've seen from Beane and McD, they still keep the humanity portion of their job in focus. So, I'm sure McD balanced his admonishment of KB's choice of time and place with we're happy you're here, play for the Bills and the fans and see how beloved you truly can become and leave the past where it is...behind you. I'm sure it was done with some compassion and yet, direct and to the point about how *not* to do that again. That part should be kept private between the team and KB. But McD's answer was succinct and honest. That's about all you can ask for as a fan and maybe even as a news source.

Bills trade with Browns for Corey Coleman
BigBuff423 replied to 17islongenough's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have always been in favor of building a team with players that have a "team first" mentality and allowing lesser talented players who work hard, play hard, go full out and are generally decent human beings be the players your fan base can identify with. That said, as much as I didn't like Dareus for his off the field issues, this one for Coleman is a non-issue in my mind. I'm not saying he's clean in this as we all accept "some" guilt by association at times in our lives, but I don't think it's much of an issue unless it continues to be a problem. We all know McCoy has seen some brushes with the law and yet he continues to be beloved by the fan base. Coleman missed a curfew when he was injured and while it's not entirely excusable, we have to take into account his age and what else was happening in his life at the time (to which I have no information). All in all, Coleman's value will be determined by how he embraces the Buffalo Bills as a teammate, how he plays on Sundays, what he does in the community, and how he endears himself to the fans - which is to include no legal entanglements that aren't family related. I give him a fresh start and let's see what happens. Personally, I think Daboll is the first OC since Chan Gailey who has the experience and creativity to be able to use these weapons (i.e. Shady, Benjamin, Zay, Coleman, Clay, et. al.) in a long time and I think if they sort out the QB concern, this Offense is going to surprise some people. -
[Vague Title] It continues... Josh Allen...
BigBuff423 replied to Scorp83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
An article written last week I believe indicated just how Beane and co. came to the conclusion Josh Allen was their guy. We don't know if they had the overall pick if they would have picked Darnold or Mayfield, but we DO know they could have chosen Rosen and they didn't. The process to me was one where if the Bills miss on Allen, and honestly it will take at least 3 full years to know that definitively, it will NOT be for a lack of effort, focus, or resources. It will simply be they overestimated their ability to correct the footwork. Because in the end, when you drill down to the reason they looked past the incompletion percentages, was they believed it all came down to correctable footwork problems. So, they're either right or they're wrong. For now, and for the entire first year Josh Allen actually plays, be it this year or next, I will give Beane and team the benefit of the doubt. The same I did with EJ after one whole season of playing. I was NOT a Josh Allen supporter or fan, but at this point, Beane and his cohorts deserve the benefit of the doubt regarding evaluating a QB. Mainly, because how they went about it speaks to their thorough commitment to locating the right QB and because we have nothing to support or detract from their judgment just yet. So, all in all....we'll see. But, I liked the process of how they came to that decision and it made a lot of sense as to why they made Allen their selection: it wasn't just the big arm and he's a big kid thing...it was so much more complex and intricate. Let's hope for the best. -
Hard Knocks 2018: The Cleveland Browns

Prisco: Bills to go 3-13 (start 0-8)
BigBuff423 replied to HansLanda's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was not a Josh Allen supporter pre-Draft (I am now due to his choice of uniform), but it *can* be both....it can be that Prisco Pete sees the very real potential Josh has and the balls it took to Draft him 7th overall with the projection toward the future, while underestimating the current state of the team's ability to be better than 3 wins....again, I'm not saying the Bills are automatically at playoff team, but i do think 3 wins is pretty low for this roster and coaching staff, mainly the Defense as the side I think is the backbone of how the team fares. But, if the Offense is truly putrid I can see the Bills bottoming out at 5 wins and if the Offense is this year's version of last year's Defense - as in better than expected - I could also see the Bills as a 10 win team. Either way, it is possible to see Prisco in both lights....IMO -
What will Daboll's offense look like?
BigBuff423 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean...who's not a fan of the "muff"....albeit, if they're going to put *that* on the field, I suggest making sure they're not built like football dudes....just a suggestion and I'm sure there are those who would be in favor, I am not one.... I get it man....I'm optimistic as well. I think there are good reasons to be...but, to be fair the bedrock point is that we just don't know yet....I'm hoping he will be another true find for the Bills and a revelation of what hard work, dedication to professional development, and the right team culture can do for an up-and-coming Coordinator, but we just don't know for certain yet...for me, I''l give him a mulligan this year regardless and all the way into mid-year next year when I presume no matter what Josh Allen will be the starting QB (if not sooner of course) to see whether he's done the aforementioned improvement or whether McD and Beane need to look yet again.... -
Prisco: Bills to go 3-13 (start 0-8)
BigBuff423 replied to HansLanda's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not too upset by this....let them all doubt Buffalo and feed that underdog mentality for the whole team. Good. Let them sleep, and then let Buffalo devour them in their lethargy. Also, until Buffalo can prove they can do it consistently and with less "help" to contend year-in-and-year-out, the doubters have some credibility. Do I believe it? Of course not...McD proved me wrong last year when I thought they'd get about six wins or less. All of that said, more than likely this team will fare depending on Daboll. Daboll will either be a creative genius in maximizing the talent out of the QB position and WRs while making the Offensive line look better in reality than on paper (see the Buffalo Defense from last year) or this will be a team who gets rolled over. Because the Defense is most likely legitimately better...but any Defense will get worn down if they have to play 40 minutes or more of every game, especially early on in the heat. I was happy to see the Miami game in December since it seems every year the Bills play Miami in September it's a tough one...guys still getting into game shape and the heat being what it is... So, while I could see the Bills going 10-6, if the Offense remains ugly or takes a step back, I could also see this team 5-11....let's be honest folks, this team is truly trending in the right direction and I absolutely believe in McD and what he can accomplish as well as Beane, but the Offense is just unknown with Daboll at this point. -
1. Benjamin is still in his prime and it's a one year contract as an extension on his rookie contract - I don't think this argument holds water at all, IMO 2. Tolbert was basically a FB in the Offense and while he was largely inept, they needed a big body because they knew they need to be a run first (almost only) team but he wasn't brought back...that says something as well. Yes it was obvious, but they still let him walk after they got what they needed out of him . 3. Dennison was not his first choice...you remember right? After the coaching carousel settled and McCoy said no thank you - you get a guy who you need but maybe didn't really want...he had to make a decision in a short span of time when some of the better guys were taking jobs elsewhere, hence Daboll. And who knows with Daboll, but lots can be said for being a part of the NE Offense for years and winning the national Title. Before you say Saban, go back and read what Daboll was begging Saban to do starting in November which was to change QBs. It was also Daboll that resurrected their Offense in the second half of the title game. 4. Zero speed....how did Goodwin work out? How about Listenbee? Point being, speed alone doesn't do it...also, Ray-Ray, is fast. So in the end, let's not judge a WR based on speed alone. 5. Ju-Ju had his own issues, but played with Big Ben and AB on the other side not to mention Bell...you really want to compare Offenses? C'mon, you're better than that....had Tyrod been throwing Ju-Ju the ball, it would have been a very different story for him 6. Peterman....man, I'm sick of having this discussion, but everyone looks at the 5 INTs and they were bad...but you're not putting into context how freaking HORRIBLE Tyrod was for two to three weeks leading up to that decision. Bills were losing and they were in the thick of the playoff hunt in the middle of their season...McD decided a change had to be made. Sorry, but when you combine DeMarco's deflected off his hands INT, Mills basically napping the whole game and Benjamin not being himself while Zay was also injured but we didn't know it, I give Peterman a mulligan as a whole...then when you consider Tyrod's work leading up to that game, I understand the decision when put into context. At the end of the day, to me, it just sounds like they don't agree with you and you want faster results of making the Offense dominant, ala Green Bay / Atlanta / NE / Saints....and with so much already said about Cap space, poor personnel decision before Beane ever got on a plane to Buffalo, and Tyrod, to me anyone is crazy to think the Offense and the Defense could be fixed in one year...it's going to take three years. Whaley screwed it up with contracts and poor Drafting in some areas, namely Offensive talent. So, I have no idea how Allen will do or how Beane and company will do with their decisions, but IMHO it way, way too early to call them "horrible" decisions.
-
Ok, I get that you don't like the Josh Allen pick and you've clearly indicated why, fair enough. But I take issue with your statement, "their offensive player evaluations have been really bad". Considering the mess Beane and McD inherited related to the Cap and aging Offensive players, how so? They trade a 3rd for Benjamin in a year when at the time they were 5-2 and needed an outside WR to help Tyrod. Benjamin got hurt and struggled, but were they supposed to be able to project that? Zay had 399 catches in the NCAA, a guy doesn't "forget" how to catch a ball unlike speedsters in college who can't really play ball in the NFL. Then we find out he had a torn labrum for the entire year, which can make it difficult to get extension on making catches not to mention "The Trip" in the Jets game just as he was rounding into form....go back and look at that game and you can see how he was just starting to put it together and then that ugly, cheap shot changed his trajectory in combination with the aforementioned shoulder injury. Dawkins as you said so far has shown tremendous promise. Beane went out got much deeper, although questionable the level of talent, on the Offensive line with four year starter in Bodine and Newhouse who can play both RT and G. It was painfully obvious Beane committed to clearing the Cap, taking the hit this year, and moving forward. Kerley has made his living in the slot, Benjamin and Zay both *should* be healthy making a real difference, and then in the Draft got speedy, shifty WRs like Proehl and Ray-Ray the return guy from Clemson. THEN in UDFA got Foster to come to Buffalo who also adds more speed and RAC type of play. Who knows how Proehl, Ray-Ray (for returns) and Foster do for the Bills - IF they do anything. But to say Beane and McD's picks or choices in FA have been "really bad" is so presumptuous it's asinine. And keep in mind, Teller the G from VT, was considered a steal by many Draftniks saying he had a 3rd to 4th round grade and PFF had him ranked much higher. Again, who knows how he plays, but he *could* be the Offensive Line version of the 5th Round pick Kyle Williams. Point being at this point, we just don't know....and I'm ok with trusting them considering what they've done thus far, and yet knowing it all needs to be proven before we start talking about them in effusive glowing praise. I don't know how Allen will do or Zay or Teller or any of the others. But what I do know, is this current FO and HC and staff have already shown they know how to coach, get players at bargain or fair prices, and willing to adjust or admit they need change, see exit Dennison and enter Daboll. All the while slitting that monkey's throat that sat on our backs for so long he was about to enter college. All that said, we'll see.....but for now, I'll take it. And still, to be able to decisively say their decisions for Offense have been anything other than unknown presumes your insight to be true and obviously you overvalue your own opinion.
-
What I really liked about this article in particular was how Beane answered the question related to Allen's incompletion percentage. Beane talked about watching every....single....throw, multiple times and tracking exactly what happened. He acknowledge his feet were the biggest culprit but also insinuated that it was also about what happened with the line, the receiver, and tracking where else he could have gone with the ball. Additionally, Beane added what many others have said in that it was a Pro Style Offense with no "gimme" passes or hand-offs with bubble screens, etc. That adds to the weight of considering the incompletion percentage. I also liked how Beane said it went back to pencil and paper and going over the throws extensively, rather than just running the video and making a judgment. Also, how Beane said Daboll hit him hard with questions and Allen answered them all to their satisfaction re-stating how smart Allen is - despite also acknowledging how nervous Josh was in the meeting. Good stuff.
