  1. Makes sense...the NFL is obviously now the Passing League (except our Bills), so your defense should reflect that. This is not new, even Fat Rex said when he was hired that the base defense isnt a big deal (it obviously was, dumbass) because you spend the majority of your time on defense in your nickel and dime packages... I could see a situation where Hyde is used as a hybrid LB/coverage guy, being on the field at the same time as two other safeties often. I just want coach McD to put the best 11 defenders on the field at the same time
  2. why do these beat writers need to guess when there are tools like Spotrac out there?
  3. Are we having problems selling tickets? I would assume what brings the season ticket holders back is loyalty, just like every other year. I've been a long time season ticket holder, as are most in my section, and we keep coming back. Its not because of splashy (or, not so splashy) signings..it's because we are die hard fans who love the Bills and experiencing it all live and in person and with each other. And who gives a **** if signings bring more fans or not...I want, and 99% of fans want, signings that make our football team competitive
  4. I legitimately spit some coffee back into my thermos The kid is a punk, and a wannabe gangster. All the known incidents are out there and plentiful. Icing on the cake was after all the stories and the exposure, his friend posts a photo of him rolling blunts on a kitchen table. Maybe limit your exposure instead of highlight it. I had personal interactions with him when he was a senior in high school. Very arrogant, very entitled, very confrontational. Yes people can certainly mature, I certainly did, since my experience with him he has done nothing to reshape my opinions of him as a person. I don't want that on my football team. I also don't think he's really that good of a QB. Good arm, mobile and tough. I don't see him working hard like is needed to achieve at the NFL level. Added all together I wouldn't take him for free.
  5. yea and said he only didnt draft him because he had Peyton....ok...but you pass on the next great QB 5 times just because you already have a starter???? No, you at least take him for a quality backup or trade bait lol...crazy old man
  6. Well Rodgers was drafted in the 20s of the first round - so technically being middle of the pack would certainly allow us to draft Rodgers. : ) You have to identify your guy and pull the trigger
  7. Not saying they won't move on from Tyrod - but I have the opposite take. Technically the bills only need to make an announcement/make a big deal out of it if they are going to cut Tyrod. They can technically do nothing up until and past march 11th, they don't need to do anything to keep Tyrod except let the time run out. He's already under contract. They don't even need to sign their names on anything.
  8. Ryan Groy, not Goy Overall it seems like a reasonable plan, however, its easy to say "sign so and so, mid level replacement" while jettisoning our guys. I'm just not sure those "cheaper" guys are out there in abundance at all of those positions. We need to spend resources (money and draft) on safety this offseason....and agreed a real upgrade at RT will do wonders with the line, running game and passing game
  9. The patriots (again) (still). With Brady playing another 15 years I see them as the next dynasty.
  10. I won't lie, one point I was on board with hooker/Adams if they were available. But fret not, I am past that point now. I would def like Davis or Williams (in that order), or franchise QB if they decide to move on from Tyrod (or even if they don't honestly) if they identify one they are sold on. Maybe if Allen falls to us he would be a good option. Rueben foster intrigues me too. There are a lot of options at our pick to improve the team immediately or long term (QB).
  11. Absolutely agree with this. now back to prospects!!
  12. Great response but it didn't address the question I posed to Bill, who stated that DE edge rushers and tweeners win games for teams. You talked about branch and his run stuffing and interior pressure changing the game (I'm glad he had a good game but that's not why the Pats won) and that's great, but branch is neither an edge rushing DE nor a tweener And I do agree with you about the first round pick. IF our FO and staff think there is a QB in this draft that can Be franchise material - I'm more than OK with them taking him at 10.
  13. id be fond of something exotic....Ruby Red? Lime Green?
  14. perfect...prime example, and he does it often. LOL at the haters.
  15. Which pass rushing DE/tweener won big games for the Patriots? Falcons? Packers? Steelers? Hmmmm....cant really think of any. I can, however, think of great QB play that won those teams games. I agree with the heart of what your saying though, I think. We need to get better on the right side of our o-line. I just think there are other avenues to do that while still identifying your franchise QB (if its not Tyrod)
  16. You must have watched about 4 youtube clips then...watch the full games and you will see plenty of him standing in the pocket and going away from primary reads. You will also see plenty of him "throwing WRs open" - everyones favorite knock against Tyrod. The kid can straight throw, mechanics be damned. All in on the Mahomes train, CHOOOOO CHOOOOOOO!
  17. yea when teams started blitzing and getting pressure on Wentz he crumbled...just like the knock on him coming out said. Goff/Wentz are bums. I would take Mahomes/Trubisky over either of them today - knowing they are projects
  18. fair enough...we will have to disagree about Gilmore's worth to this defense
  19. Running zone schemes allows you to have average corners because they are only asked to cover areas instead of staying with a man. Gilmore does very well in man coverage, but he wont be asked to do that under McDermotts scheme...this is why historically, Jim Johnson and then McDermott have got great production from otherwise average DBs. Im not saying we need to replace Gilmore with someone as good, or someone worse, I'm saying we can get away with replacing him with someone DIFFERENT because scheme will allow it. I am sure Gilmore COULD succeed in McDermotts scheme, but we don't have a need to pay him to do so when we can get someone else to do it. Is Richard Sherman being paid to be a cover 2 CB? Is Patrick Peterson a cover 2 CB? There's no need to pay top dollar to a CB if your running a zone In an ideal world I would love to have Gilmore, regardless of system. This isnt an ideal world and if we want to upgrade the many needs we have, we could be better served spending that 14 million next year on other guys...like in the areas you suggest we need to spend resources on. If letting Gilmore go means we get a CB (cheaper guy who can be plugged into zone coverage), RT help, safety help or WR help...im in with that plan. Carolina's D had a lot more problems than just letting Norman walk. I also don't know why you state "we are already pretty much on board with taking a QB high" - that might end up being the case but as of now, I don't see where you are drawing that conclusion from. As of now we have TT as the QB which wouldn't necessarily mean we have to draft a QB high.
  20. glad you don't understand, but thanks for responding the point was, we don't know what the play is designed to do...there are literally plays where the call is something like this..."pre snap read tells you to look left side of the field (the 1 on 1 matchup/no safety help/zone soft spots) and if those options are covered, get what you can"...sometimes they call those plays that would not allow the other side of the field to be looked at because of protection calls, or to limit possibility of turnovers.. I know he misses guys that are wide open, that is fact. What is also fact is that we don't know EVERY INSTANCE of why those guys are being missed. What is also fact is all NFL QBs miss open guys...the NFL is hard, and playing QB is the hardest. Again though, fine with moving on from TT, also fine with keeping him...whatever the staff thinks will get the job done.
  21. totally different corners, Norman and Gilmore...Norman excelled in McDermotts scheme, Gilmore has never even whiffed a zone scheme like that. Cover corners get paid, Zone corners can be found cheap/created...no thanks to 14 mill a year. If we were staying in man coverage then hell yea Gilmore is worth it.
  22. I know how they compare based on previous conversations with you... I dont want to re-sign Gilmore, not based on talent, but based on team needs. McDermott has gotten great production from less than stellar corners previously....he also will likely run a zone, which doesn't require good cover man skills like Gilmore has. Why not let him walk, sign a cheap replacement who is good at zone coverage already, and use the money elsewhere? Gilmore is a luxury for us right now...id rather fill some necessities
  23. Good work Bandit, gracias. Best outcome of this draft, for me, regardless of what we do with TT....is take whatever impact / play maker we see fit in round 1 (preferably a WR or OJ Howard) and then draft Mahomes in round 2. I just dont think he lasts until then, but as I said...ideal situation.
  24. and through those all-22, did little captions come up that said "in this play call, it was designed as a half field read to the left based on pre-snap indicators" and the open WRs you saw were on the right side instead? The all-22 is great, and I watch them myself (in addition to being at home games and seeing guys wide open as well) - but it does not tell the entire story... Im not defending TT, at this point I truly dont care who is at QB next year, I just hope this staff and FO makes the RIGHT decision on the position moving forward...ill defer to their judgement because they have all the information and know a hell of a lot more about football than any of us fans
