  1. you would call a press conference if any players career was suddenly ended, really... and maybe there isnt a press conference and that part of the rumor is wrong, maybe they are just waiting until monday to make a statement?
  2. if Dion Dawkins career was over that would be an even bigger blow than shady's career being over Dawkins has an entire career ahead of him at the second most important position on offense...it would be brutal
  3. It is still a big story....our top offensive lineman, has a big contract, has to retire way too early because of injury I am betting this is the news
  4. Agreed. However I would prefer to keep Glenn and trade a 4th. I know he has injury issues but he is better than solid when healthy. Not having to address the tackle spot except for depth would be really nice. That said, if our med staff knows he will not remain healthy ever in his career then I guess its best to part ways if possible
  5. I agree 100%, but thinking our 21st and Glenn would be enough to get them to trade the #3 is asinine LOL The best thing for the bills would be being able to move Glenn and some picks to get up to take our QB, so that we wouldnt have to give up more picks. However, I don't see the Colts taking anything less than a kings ransom of picks AND Glenn for that pick. The consolation prize is also good for the Bills. Having two very good tackles will help whoever our QB is tremendously.
  6. yea man, you are nuts...sorry It would take both of our firsts, our second, probably next years 1st and throw in Glenn for good measure and then MAYBE Indy picks up the phone Even if they move on from Luck, they wont want TYGOD lol....and if they do move on from Luck, they wont be trading out of the number 3 spot, they will be taking their QB of the future. Likely Indy stays put and does the smart thing and drafts Barkley
  7. I hope for this every night before bed...."please let the Rams cut Robert Quinn" I would offer higher than a 5th for him too if thats what it took
  8. I like the IDEA of drafting Mike White and not having to give up all of our picks to do so.... But I know nothing about Mike White or his potential to be an NFL QB
  9. I was obviously joking about Joe Webb
  10. If our FO thinks the guy is there, then I am all for using whatever pieces we have in order to get him. I dont think I would have said that before this season...but seeing how Coach McD and his staff really got the most out of a roster devoid of talent in many areas, I am confident they could do the same again and again....albeit this time with a true NFL QB.
  11. different strokes for different folks, I flew down for the game week 2 and LOVED the heat...
  12. hmmmm...if he was doing so great with Cam I wonder why they fired him (not being an a$$, truly wondering)...I didn't know he was well regarding or credited for Cam's "development" so I guess I will have to take your word for it
  13. oh yea I am all for an upgrade at QB coach (although it can be argued Culley learned a lot about coaching QBs from the QB whisperer Andy Reid), I am just not all for "upgrading" for the sake of changing. I would prefer a more seasoned QB coach who has a history with different QBs, instead of Ken Dorsey who has only ever coached Cam Newton with mixed results. I wouldnt hate the hire, but it wouldn't wow me
  14. Dorsey is a well regarded QB Coach? That is my problem with the potential hire....what has Dorsey done that makes him a good QB coach?
  15. Except that paying TT 18 Million to NOT be the guy is not a smart business decision
  16. Dorsey also backed up Alex Smith for the 49ers, so he would be familiar with his strengths and weaknesses if we made a move for Smith lol
  17. he worked with Joe Webb when he worked for the IMG Academy....so looks like our QB of the future is already on the team!!!! Alrite, now we can use the draft capital to build around Joe Webb!! In all seriousness...I would be so-so on the hire. Was a good college QB, not an NFL QB , and has only worked with Cam Newton with limited success as an NFL Passer
  18. was merely commenting on your snarky "assuming" response to another poster. This is a message board, that's what we do here...assume and opine
  19. from reading your exchange, it actually looks like YOU are the one assuming... You are assuming Brian Daboll cannot put together a competent NFL passing attack...I would argue, lets wait and see...considering we have NO IDEA what he plans/will do with our passing offense or QB (whoever that may be)
  20. yea true true (regarding him bringing up the trade up on his own)... However, I wouldnt say we have been passive in trying to find our QB - aside from passing on Mahomes last year, but its quite possible they just didn't like him/think he had franchise guy potential (I disagree). I dont think we have been passive necessarily, but we have chosen the wrong guys! The past 15 years have been a futile search for a franchise QB. The Rest is not necessarily in response to only GunnerBill: With the following I am not trying to argue the Bills have done enough or too little..just reminding us all painfully that we have been searching. A little history Current QB - Tyrod Taylor. The previous regime thought he could become the guy and took their chance with him being that guy. This guy DID take us to the playoffs, but after several seasons as the starter it is obvious that he is very limited and therefore can never be THAT guy. But he occupies our immediate recent history of QB search. Kyle Orton/Matt Cassel brought in to be competitive with young QBs on the roster 2013 - Drafted EJ Manuel in the first round to be THE GUY. Yes that regime was wrong, but they took their shot, aggressively, and pulled the trigger on a 1st round QB. 2009 - Signed Ryan Fitzpatrick, not an awe inspiring move, but he played adequate QB for 2 full seasons plus 2 more of here and there/winning the QB competition. 2007 - Drafted Trent Edwards in the third round, he went on to prove enough to the staff/FO for them to annoint him the starter. 2004 - Drafted JP Losman in the first round to be the future. Obviously a huge fail, but they took their chance in the first round on a QB 2002 - The Bills traded for Drew Bledsoe, an established NFL Starter who would immediately solidify the QB position. Had him as the starter for 3 seasons...thats 3 seasons of competent NFL starting QBing. So for 15 years we have been searching, through the draft (2 1st rounders and a 3rd rounder), a big name potentially future HOF QB at the end of his career, and several so-so FA's MAYBE the next guy we give a shot to will turn out to be the answer, or MAYBE he will be just the next name on this list. It is IMPERATIVE that McBeane get this QB pick right, regardless if we draft him at #2 or #22
  21. Actually, Bills Mafia was started for extremely charitable and noble purposes and had nothing to do with the people lighting themselves on fire...look up Del Reid and you will see why we are fortunate enough to have the national BillsMafia moniker Now, I understand you do not want to be associated with the table jumpers, neither do I. However, taking a stand against the BillsMafia moniker, IMO, is not the way to go about it. Perhaps attempting to give those asshats a different label ("Billscreants", "BillsInfants", something like that) and making that stick would be more effective. We should be proud of national recognition for the positives, and the charitable cause that started Bills Mafia (long before the Andy Dalton thing) *Edit: I did not see Plenzmd post above, but click on his link and you can see why we are the Bills Mafia.
  22. I could see that... And I don't mean for this to be offensive, but duh! I would hope that is how ALL NFL GM's feel about the QB position. If you love a prospect, and have the ammunition like we have, it would be dumb to NOT attempt to move up and get your QB. *again, IF you identify a QB that you think is the guy
  23. I think a way larger sample size would be needed than 1 spread QB, taking 5 years to develop, and having 1 good offensive year to get GMs to change how they evaluate QBs... THAT said, I do believe all QB success in the NFL (even Tom Brady) is largely dependent on being in the right place, with the right coaching staff/philosophy/, at the right time. Many NFL QBs would benefit from sitting and learning how to be an NFL QB before being thrown into the fire, regardless of college system run. Most NFL GM's/teams don't have that luxury though.
  24. interesting take on his comments...the highlights I got from twitter were just him saying how it would cost a lot to move up that high using 21/22...really just starting to evaluate these QBs...etc... I'll have to go listen to the full interview and see
  25. what did Beane say or where can I hear it?
