  1. lots of holes, have to try to fill some via free agency to give yourself draft flexibility And we could sign Richardson, and STILL draft a WR Use FA to fill as many holes as reasonable so that you can either use picks to make your move for QB or draft BPA
  2. wellllllllllllllllllllll what if he signs a real low dollar contract? edit: nevermind, I Found the answer to that question. Would still count, damn....anyway, worth a flyer haha
  3. Reports are the Colts and Donte Moncrief will part ways. He is a FA that I think makes a lot of sense for the Bills to go after. Incredible combo of size/talent...was in an offense where he was a number 3 option most of the time, with a hurt Andrew Luck. 6'2, jump ball ability, 4.4 40 time, area of need....I would take a flyer on him, and for those who care, he wouldnt count against the comp pick formula. Makes sense to load up on these types of guys.
  4. what????? Mike Vick in the hall of fame? For what????? What did he do during his career that would put him anywhere near even a nomination to the hall of fame? His stats certainly don't support it...he barely has more career passing yards than QBs who are in the hall of fame that played in the 1940s!!!!!!! He played in the era of the passing offense, and put up some pretty average stats. Hall of fame!!????
  5. I live in the 716, am a season ticket holder and I still sell some games that I either don't want to attend or cant attend. Seems like a really dumb rule for the franchise.
  6. Comp picks wont stop us from filling a need with a FA. Comp picks might affect a decicion where, all other things being mostly equal, Beane might sign someone who would not affect the plus comp pick It makes sense and I am OK with that.
  7. I appreciate everyone's respectful and honest discussion. I believe these types of questions have a place in these types of interviews because it is a useful tool to gauge players temperaments in a job where millions of dollars are at stake, players are constantly hounded by the media regarding sensitive subjects, players personal lives can result in suspensions that harm their employer, players are subject to fans taunting them at games and in public....none of us work in such a volatile business where millions of dollars are at stake based on someones simple reaction or overreaction so our personal experiences are of no relevance. It is NOT the actual answer to the question that matters to the interviewers, it is the reaction of the interviewee and how they conduct themselves...which IS very relevant to their profession (not playing the sport, but dealing with their public lives, which DOES very much matter in today's NFL) I also appreciate why some of you would disagree and think these questions are out of line. I will simply bow out of this discussion because, like politics or religions, no one will ever change each others minds and I have no interest in just arguing. Go Bills!
  8. It kind of outrages me that so many in here do not understand why the questions are asked lol And then people in here compare their interview experience with these NFL interviews, as if they are in any way, shape or form comparable lol NFL players are public figures. Most NFL players do not share most of our upbringings and back grounds. Most of these players do not come from stable families who had strong parents who taught them how to appropriately handle difficult situations. These questions are just another tool for scouts to determine what genetic make up and characters of men they might be handing millions of dollars to and/or making the face of their billion dollar franchise. "well in my interview experience..." lol, not...even...comparable!
  9. I can't think of one more appropriate what would your questions be?
  10. it could certainly help factor into a decision about a questionable player, are they easily unhinged? I don't understand why some on this board cannot comprehend how a players response to something like this reveals a glimpse into someones character or attitude/makeup
  11. are people that dense that they dont understand why these questions are asked? TO GAUGE THEIR REACTION, DO THEY FREAK OUT ON THE ASKER? DO THEY KEEP THEIR COMPOSITION WHEN PRESSED ON A SENSITIVE SUBJECT? Jesus people, really?
  12. THIS. They ask these types of questions routinely to see how they react, not for their answer.
  13. Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson too... Your point is correct. Every once in a while a non franchise QB leads his team to the super bowl. Great. I don't want to rely on building the perfect team around the QB and getting lucky once in a while. I want that friggin franchise QB that takes your team to the playoffs year after year because he IS a franchise QB (Aaaron Rodgers style). I am confident McBeane can build a team without having 100 draft picks this year, and minus a high pick next year. Look what they did in ONE YEAR at the helm with this talent void Bills team.
  14. Lots of holes to fill on this roster is 100% correct. However, we also have a glaring hole at the most important position in football. One that, time and time again has proven to be THE deciding factor in whether or not your team is a consistent playoff team. That position is QB. You get your franchise QB by finishing bad enough to be picking at the top of the draft, or you get lucky and hit on a mid to late round pick. The stats have been posted over and over, the vast majority of pro bowl QBs are first round picks, and usually at the top. Is there a chance he is a bust, oh absolutely, but sitting in QB purgatory gets you to a 20 year drought (so does picking the wrong guy). We havent been bad enough at the right time to pick our QB high. This year, we have the ammunition to move up and snag our QB, finally. I trust our FO more than I have in 20 years. However, I am hoping they make that move and jump to the top of the draft.
  15. I think, whether it was the Bills or another team, they were inquiring about Foles to gauge interest and start formulating plans/backup plans in case FA and or the draft doesnt go the way they want it to. Similar to the Ivory signing, its doing due diligence and having flexibility. It's SMART! I don't think Foles is really that good though. I think he was put in the perfect situation in Philly with a damn good team, damn good coaches and play caller. To me he is more of an average QB who could play good, but could also play really bad. Would I give up ONLY a second (the rumored offer) for him to be our starting QB? I lean towards no but if thats all it took and the Process thought it was the correct move and they could get the most out of Foles, then I would reluctantly be on board. I would doubt Foles is option A. As far as the rumors the Eagles want more than the 1st and 4th they got for Bradford, well DUH, what else would the Eagles say...."we would actually settle for a couple mid round picks for Foles, honestly" LOL
  16. thats the beauty of evaluating, we can all watch, a lot, and come to different conclusions at how they project at the next level. Time will tell.
  17. I think, because it is the NFL and the bodies are bigger/faster/stronger, it would be an insane idea to have the boatload of designed runs for Jackson that he saw in college. Not if you want your QB to stay healthy....now with that said, he has done a great job (similar to Shady) of avoiding the big hits. His legs are a part of his game, no doubt, that can really help an offense. I would guess he would put on bulk, you would still have plays that get him in space (some RPO, roll outs, naked bootlegs)... My main point was, people need to not view Jackson as a running QB that can pass, but rather a fully capable pocket passer. Take his legs completely out of the game and hes still a good QB.
  18. exactly, and anyone who says that does not understand football. Check out Petrino's offense...similar concept wise to NFL, one of the most NFL comparable college offenses actually. Why does Jackson have so many rushing yards then? BECAUSE HIS RUNS ARE LARGELY DESIGNED. Not a one-read and then run, or bail out and run all the time type of QB Louisville has had ZERO offensive talent since Jackson has been in town (no drafted offensive players in that time...in any round...crazy) so he has to be QB and RB, and if there was a way for him to throw the ball to himself, I am sure they would have had them do that too
  19. IF ONE IS ONLY LOOKING AT STATS TO COMPARE THE TWO, the only similar stat they had, as far as college career goes, was their YPA.... In every other stat category TT cant even hold Jacksons nuts Jackson accounted for about 120 collegiate TDs, TT accounted for half that number...that is all you need to really know BUT, if you wanna look at yards / yards per game in just passing....be my guest, and again, see that TT cant hold Jacksons nuts Jackson actually played college ball in an NFL offense, and therefore should be far more advanced as far as QB play than TT is even to this day (and Jackson still can do a lot of work to improve. So again, no...other than being black and athletic, TT and Jackson are nothing alike. Lazy mans comp. To think a Bills offense led by Jackson would resemble anything like the one led by TT last season is also a poor and lazy comparison.
  20. just to interject, I don't know what your basis for disagreeing with 26 on this is... it is WIDELY known throughout college and the pro's that Petrinos passing offense is pretty complex and similar to what NFL coordinators are doing. Jackson got a LOT of rushing yards and TDs in his time at Louisville but that was most certainly not a result of plays breaking down and Jackson scrambling and trying to make things happen (ALA Tyrod Taylor as the Bills QB). Most of Jackson's rushes were designed rushing plays. Jackson very much led an NFL style offense that relied on him making reads and progressions, and this season hung tough in the pocket to prove that he could/would.. All of this while playing in an extremely untalented offense from a personnel stand point. NOT ONE Louisville offensive player has been drafted in 2 years....DRAFTED, like in all 7 rounds...not one!!!! That is freaking incredible. What Jackson performed (like winning a freaking heisman!!!!) with a bunch of scrubs supporting him is damn impressive and should be factored into all comments regarding his skill set. So I ask again, on what basis do you disagree? Just, like, your opinion man?
  21. oh absolutely. I wouldn't trade Hughes for a 3rd or 4th because I think he is worth more than that to our team. I was just saying that is more realistic to what another team would value him as, ESPECIALLY when deciding to give up the number 2 draft pick lol
  22. must have? ive been in and out of this thread, and was simply replying to the asinine comment on the current page replies... something similar to what you said? would you like an "attaboy"?
  23. 2nd? With his age, lack of production last year and major contract....I would bet we could nab maybe a 3rd or 4th
  24. fail Jackson and Tyrod are both black and athletic, but that is truly where the similarities end.
