  1. pick one Cameron Heyward Defensive Tackle...Others have pointed this guy out. Right now the best player in the draft in a position of critical need. Pick two Christian Ponder, qb of Florida State. Pick three Marvin Austin DT North Carolina Pick four Demarcus Love OT Arkansas Second pick four Mark Herzlich OLB Boston College Pick five Ian Williams DT Notre Dame Dull day and was thinking about the draft....
  2. Poz could be had for a reasonable amount. I don't see a linebacker coming out of the 32nd best defense against the run who has a history of injuries being all that marketable. I think if he can stay healthy he is a viable linebacker and we should be able to sign him. Sooner or letter we have to stop bleeding out our serviceable players and start rebuilding. Keeping our better players is an essential part of any rebuilding effort.
  3. hmmm...Having suggested that we look to the waiver wire and pick up potential linemen at the time of the final cuts and being roundly criticized for that suggestion...I find this interesting. Wonder if we could have improved the team even more by having gotten rid of a few of the players we are now giving up on and bringing in some of the final cuts from better teams...wait a minute...they are ALL better teams!
  4. no..I've been invited to head up a panel at a conference in Heidelberg Germany about the same time...Much as I like Clearwater, I have never spent any significant time in Germany and it is kind of an honor to get invited.
  5. and social security number bank account and pin visa and mastercard number and security code..... address and where your kids go to school Look no one expects anyone to use their real name..most of us don't..(my name isn't really tennesseeboy...) If John, Lori, or others choose to do it, god bless them..but it doesn't make them better or worse than anyone else on the board.
  6. Exactly who is "cheering" anyone's departure??? Would that make someone actually subhuman?
  7. yeah..that usually works well with you guys!
  8. Do you realise what you just said? You called a poster a son of a bytch...drunken, slobbering...made a lot of negative assertions about the guy..and then talk about civility on the board?
  9. Its a free country...post, don't post, selectively post...whine, moan...whatever. We should all be civil...none of us are all the time some of us are uncivil more than others. If someone wants to leave...leave..if you want to come back..come back... I don't understand all the drama.
  10. not a lot of civility on the board. We have people threatening physical violence and questioning people's right to be alive. Doesn't phase me, but I can see how some might be put off by it. I just consider the source and keep on keepin'on.
  11. I gotta agree...we need a franchise player on offense of defense, and right now our defense is awful and getting worse. This guy looks good, but there is a lot of season left.
  12. We'll have to look at the very best player in a position of critical need. Quarterback is pretty close to a position of critical need, although some might argue Fitzy is adequate and we should address other needs. I think that we should look for a "franchise" player a la Bruce Smith, Orlando Pace, John Elway, Deion Sanders, Lawrence Taylor...assuming one is available. I can think of four positions of need where we can choose from for that player...quarterback, Offensive tackle, defensive nose tackle, and possibly linebacker. IF (big if) there is a "franchise" player in any of these positions, I'd say go for him. The second round should give us a chance to fill another of those holes.
  13. There is no plan...if there were they should verbalize it. They have not evaluated what they have. They have not drafted assistant coaches wisely and have let some very good coaches (April and Fewell) go. They should have known they didn't have realistic talent to go 3-4. o-line was in disarray. If they had planned they would have used this draft to address any of three obvious weaknesses...OT/QB or nose tackle. You "plan" by addressing areas of weakness... This isn't a secret plan...they should set out what they intend to do and then go ahead and do it. People who buy season tickets an pay for NFL coverage are only so patient. If they knew exactly WHAT the plan was they might be a little more patient.
  14. I'm in East Tenn. I usually stop off at the local Beef O'Brady's to watch the game on my way home from church. For the first game I got there and there were eight games on..no bills. I asked and they said there were only eight tvs and nine games so they cut the bills because they sucked and no one was interested. I have been back twice and both times the bills were the team cut until I made a stink. Now I don't make a stink..in fact..if they DID show the bills I'd ask to see another game.
  15. I think he had a brief stint with the football team at SUNY Alfred (a two year program) somewhere along the line... I'd love to know more about what made him tick. He seems to have kind of sabotaged himself on a number of occassions.
  16. I remember sneaking with my brother into war memorial for a game against Houston (must have been 65-66 season, climbing over a fence. A buffalo cop got hold of my leg and beat my leg with a billy. My brother and a buddy got over the fence and got caught and escorted out. I hung on and by the time I got over the fence with a badly bruised leg the security people had taken my bro and his buddy out and I got in. Hagood Clark made a wonderful interception with very little time left (Why did Blanda throw the ball???) for a great Buffalo win. The irony is that the three of us all became cops at one point or another in our careers! Saimes was a fullback and a d-back at Michigan. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised as that must have been the end of that era where guys would play both ways.
  17. "1) What did RW do with Lou Saban? Nothing. Lou quit on RW twice - in 1965 and again in 1976. (Lou quit on a lot of different organizations, some before even lasting a full season - which is why, even though I think he's deserving, to this day Saban is not on the Bills ' Wall of Fame ' despite the 2 AFL championships.)" you know the story of Lou Saban is one of the most interesting in all of sport. It is a wonder no one has written a book about him and his exploits over the course of his career. One can only wonder why he left so many opportunities often at moments of triumph or close to it.
  18. And no players on the current roster like Terrel Owens, Incognito, Aaron Schobel,or Kawika Mitchell or Marshawn Lynch. The team gets weaker by the week.
  19. good move...say he's injured, say he's got personal problems, hell..say he was kidnapped byh gypsies and is being held for ransom...but get him the hell off the field.
  20. I was going to say you should have kicked his butt, but then..it was Ron McDole....Didn't he and Dunaway get cut late in their careers and then have a real resurgence for the Redskins? That was one hell of a defensive line, Sestak, Dunaway, McDole and Day. Butch Bird was one of the best ever, and Tracy, Jacobs Stratton were awesome. Saimes at safety was a converted quarterback, wasn't he? Boy you played on perhaps (only perhaps...remember Jim Kelly and the Super Bowl teams) the greatest team that Buffalo ever had. I was wearing my high school football jersey and hitching out to the lake in the summer of 65 and Elbert Dubenion (Golden Wheels) picked us up in his Cadillac. Nice guy and one hell of a receiver.
  21. Ralph Wilson got voted to the Hall of Fame for a reason. He has made some of the smartest moves in the course of his ownership of the team and played a HUGE role in the early years keeping the AFL together. He has been loyal to Buffalo throughout. He has made some remarkably good decisions in hiring coaches (Saban and Levy come to mind right out of the box). He has made mistakes over the last half century and appears to have (in my opinion) made one with hiring Nix and Gailey. Ralph will make his decisions regarding the future of the team consistent with his own desires involving, I presume, his family and other heirs. Tax implications, family desires and other factors to which we are not privy will be a part of the decision. Ralph is the owner and he calls the shots. I hope the Bills stay in Buffalo, but Ralph has no obligation to keep them here.
  22. I was fan during Hank Bullogh, I knew Hank Bullogh...Chan Gailey...you are no Hank Bullogh. Hank Bullogh was 4-17 in his tenure with the Bills...something that Chan might look to as a stretch goal given what we've seen so far.
  23. And this is something we didn't know the moment we signed him? Wasn't Oakland ecstatic to get rid of him for this reason? I guess maybe we decided that if he were here somehow he would take some "not suck" pills and get better? Not that there weren't free agent (Adams), trade (Gaither, although later injured) or draft (Bulaga) options readily available.
  24. But you get a Kurt Warner through free agency, you get an Eli Manning through trade and a Drew Brees through trade, a Donovan McNabb by trade, a Jay Cutler and Kyle Orton through trade, and a Jack Kemp off the waiver wire.
