  1. Actually I had ponder being our first pick in the second round (Number 33?) and us going with a defensive lineman in the first round. Assuming we go with the first pick and don't trade down, I would hope a stud defensive end, defensive tackle or even a potential franchise linebacker comes to the top by the end of the season. I could see us trading down to the low teens and getting another second round choice and doing quite well...but then that is only one possibility. I'm big on Ponder to this point and would love to see us get him in the second round.
  2. I suspect that we will have lots of changes between now and the end of the season. The cream will rise to the top, but we have to improve the lines on this team (although the offensive line for the first time didn't look bad against the Ravens.) Lots of top defensive ends and tackles and outside linebackers and we have lots of room for a few of them. We might even trade down to maximize our ability to improve the defense, if no franchise defensive lineman is there as a reasonable first overall pick.
  3. Amen...the Chiefs kept us out of the first superbowl...darn you Len Dawson!
  4. The top ten, in my opinion should include Jim Brown, Lawrence Taylor, Otto Graham, Sammy Baugh, Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Reggie White, Ronnie Lott, Johnny Unitas and someone else..Jim Kelly isn't in that class.
  5. I think its kind of a silly question. Would you want the number one pick and have us keep a culture of losing? I'd clearly give up the number one pick if we established a culture of winning or playing to win. Give me a number 5 or 6 pick and a team with a real turn around attitude over a number one pick on a hopeless and hapless team where everyone is running for the door.
  6. A patriots win and a dolphins win...and for the bills to keep playing with the energy and commitment they showed against the Ravens.
  7. Th9is was a very well played offensive game. That being said there are two things to consider. 1) we lost and 2) the defense allowed 37 points. Let's hope that the offense continues to improve, that Fitz keeps showing what hs showed in this game, and that we begin to show more and more improvement on the defensive side of the ball.
  8. We lost the game because Ray Lewis made a great defensive play in overtime. I'm not about to criticize Spiller for running it out with 58 seconds left. He is a great return guy and 58 seconds is a lot of time to get points on the board. For the same reason, Nelson was trying to get significant yards after the catch. This was a pretty remarkable performance by the Bills, although a loss is a loss. I was watching the game in a sports bar and for the first time this year I was not embarassed by the Bills. I might even start wearing my Bills jersey when I go to these games again.
  9. Fitz looks like a top flight NFL qb. Let's see how the season plays out and maybe we have our qb. Lots of games left to look at him.
  10. The line played fairly well in pass blocking yesterday. I think a big element was getting rid of Cornell Green. I think the line may have more and more confidence in TE, and in part I think it was a little more respect for the potential of the running game.
  11. I'm not believing that Chan and Buddy know how to rebuild. I'd be happy if they would both resign and we could begin the process in earnest.
  12. or eben a competent head coach who gave a rat's heinie about success.
  13. well...you know it might have been good to have worked to keep a healthy guard who knows how to play the position....someone like..oh....INCOGNITO? That way we wouldn't have had to get guys who haven't shown that they can play the positions that they were drafted for and convert them into guards.
  14. hmmm...we could do this..if we had capable established vets...if our back-ups had any talent...if our coaches had a clue.
  15. STarting with what we had on the day that Chan took over, if we had used free agency, trade and a strong draft we could have made the playoffs this year. Stay with a 4-3 keep Schobel, sign Dansby and our defense would have been quite good. Get Vick, keep TO and Evans and Lynch/Jackson running backs with a strongly shored up offensive line and maybe even an adequate tight end, and we've have been running with the big dogs.
  16. Sounds like we could run a spread if only we had four wide receivers..if only we had a quarterback...if only we had an offensive line. I think we run a "spread eagle" offense where the quarterback is spread-eagled about two seconds after the snap.
  17. Wow...I thought we had reached our low ebb...but now we are actually flattered to be considered a speed bump!
  18. Amen...drafting for the wrong positions playing schemes that we do not have the talent for dumping productive players renegotiating marginal players yup..we have a plan....
  19. That's the Bills for you. Sticking their Wang in places where it was never envisioned their Wang should be.
  20. That is a possibility. If there is no Stafford or obvious "better than all the rest" player worthy of the top dollar top pick, I imagine there won't be all that much of a market for the top pick.
