  1. God had a lot of money on the Steelers....I don't blame Johnson.
  2. have a hyundai sonata and an audi quattro. the Sonata has been a car with no problems at all...the quattro has been a pain in the heinie.
  3. I think at this stage 5 wins would be very good and nice way to get ready for next season. A really big upset would be icing on the cake.
  4. draft position isn't going to do much for you. A winning attitude and some effort will. I'll take winning any day. Hoping for the number one pick is a loser mentality.
  5. At 2-8 I am not happy with Gailey. On a positive note though he has the bills playing much better since the break and is instilling a winning attitude. That is a huge achievement and I may have to re-evaluate the guy as the season progresses.
  6. Watching the bills at a tennessee sports bar and unfortunately a number o cincinnatti fans were sitting next to me and having a great time blowing you know what on the bills through the first half. Miserable experience and I was tempted to go at half time..but didn't... OHHHH...what anice time I had in the second half. I particularly enjoyed asking them if TO was suffering from menststrual cramps, if the Cincy d-backs wanted me to contribute to reimburse them for the lunch money that Steve Johnson had stolen from them. If we don't win another game this season..this was a fun highlight.
  7. I think developing a team wide winning attitude is FAR more important than getting the numberone overall pick. Anyway I think our critical needs are going to be offensive line, defensive line and linebacker and no matter how you cut it we should get the best player in the nation at ONE of those positions with our first pick. If we do get one or two and Luck or Mallet is available, I guess we might either take them or trade to get more choices.
  8. Cookie is still one of the best running backs I have ever seen in either league. I'd put Jimmy Brown above him, but it would be a bit of stretch to put anyone else even near him. Consider that he was an excellent kicker and middle linebacker as well (in canada..he refused to play both ways here) and you've got one hell of a player.
  9. I was one of the few down on Shanahan as coach of the bills. I would have liked to have seen Fewell or one of any number of high quality and enthusiastic co-ordinators ready to make the move to HC. I'm not surprised at where Shanahan (and Gailey for that matter) are at this point in the season.
  10. So far Vick is the MVP. Dogfighting does not make him a valuable or not valuable football player. Rothlesberger is a rapist...rape doesn' make him a valuable or not valuable player. Geez...you guys think being a football player is like freaking sainthood. and you dog lovers kill me....Slaughter cows, rip chickens to pieces, fight bulls beat and rape women..but keep your hands off Fido.
  11. I like what I've seen of Fitz, and he has the leadership qualities the team needs. I say give him the month of November and early December and if he shows high quality play in the snow days...we gotta keep him. If Luck is out of the picture at draft time, I suspect we'll commit to keeping him and trying to shore up our pathetic offensive line or get s stude defensive lineman with the number one pick.
  12. We could really improve our offense with a dynamic stud TE. I could live with a pick of a TE in the second round (assuming we address our OT and Defensive line situations aggressively through trade, free agency and the rest of the draft). I was admiring Olsen playing for Chicago and a slew of other great TE's the last few weeks.
  13. I kind of think Fitzy may be made for bad weather. He is more mobile, knows how to play within the envelope and seems to have a strong arm. If he turns out to be one of those guys who plays well in bad weather (like Jim Kelly?) we may have found an answer at qb. Let's see how the season plays out.
  14. Give me the Smokies and Blue Ridge Mountains, no income tax, golf all year with skiing less than an hour drive away, Nascar racing up the road, the Vols and the Hokies to the north and south, great health care..good property values, economically sound...East freakin Tennessee! But I still love Buffalo...always did and always will.
  15. to answer the senator's question for myself, I am happy the bills won the game against Detroit. I am happy that we have improved from being won of the worst playing football teams of all time before the bye to be tied for the last place in the league right now. If we keep improving I'll be less pessimistic, but I would like to see us get to .500 before I'm going to believe we are on the right track. Still...its nice to see improvement.
  16. I supect we will win three or four games by the end of the year. We will almost certainly be getting a top five pick, and we can do ourselves a lot of good with a pick in that category. We will get the best top flight qb, ot,defensive lineman or linebacker.
  17. puzzling...they seem to be unaware of both the situation and the personnel on the field. You pointed out a major blunder. Hopefully we will see fewer of them the remainder of the season, or we'll be looking at least for a new defensive coordinator.
  18. I remember when Richie Lucas was the quarterback of the future we drafted and when Buster Ramsey coached...I remember a center named Walt Cudzik whose belly hung over his pants, andWarren Rabb and Al Dorrow qb'd....and I remember my dad taking me to the parade to welcome the Bills to Buffalo.
  19. looks like we would be making a good first round pick with luck, locker, mallet or possibly newton if he comes out. Lots of pretty darn good qb's this year. I'm not seeing any player in any other position who might be a "franchise guy" right now.
  20. I was just drinking my coffee and having a creme filled donut. The donut and coffee are now being wiped off my computer screen!!!
  21. I also don't understand those who want us to lose in order to get a good draft pick, and I wold like to see us win. HOWEVER ...I have not been impressed one whit with the coaching staff up until recently, nor have I been impressed by the team overall, although there is significant improvement after the break (we are still winless). Having actually been in combat, I'd prefer being in a foxhole with people with their wits about them, their eyes wide open and with a healthy dose of reality.
  22. Ahhh...this would be one of those times when I could say "I told you so" but I've been warned and I'm not that kind of guy..so I won't.
  23. some of Saban's best days were before the merger. He did a great job "rehabilitating" OJ from a bust to a hall of flame player and building a very effective offense around him. In the final analysis I think I have to go with Levy...Saban second and Knox third.
