Anyone Watching House of Cards?
tennesseeboy replied to Lt. Dan's Revenge's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I have watched season one and two of the American version and then saw the entire British version. Essentially its Richard III and Macbeth brought into the present day. Great show..but its Shakespeare revisited. -
Boy. to think about unanswered prayers. Th guy was reluctant to come to Buffalo and yet became a vital part of the Buffalo community. It was really great having him with us as a qb and hopefully we will have him with us a long time as a neighbor.

FRANK REICH? Is there omething I don't know about the guy?

ESPN: Bills' backup plan for Byrd underwhelming

Texans turning into the Bills? They should be so lucky. -
We need to pick a tackle in the 1st or 2nd
tennesseeboy replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At nine tere will be "blue chip" players at most of the positions mentioned. ot, te, wr. Which one will fill the biggest hole from day one? The offensive tackle. We have good te's and we have good wr's. We have a good fa linebacker and backup running back. OT is the gap and if one of the top three tackles is there, that would be the way to go. -
Bills Won't take A TE or Tackle in first people
tennesseeboy replied to SJDK's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In the final analysis the burden is on Marrone and EJ to produce NEXT season and the need is for better pass protection and the glaring unaddressed position (so far) is right tackle. Chances are one of two (or three) tackles will be available. Connect the dots. I think the tell will be whether we sign a WR in free agency or an OT in free agency. -
The Bills are doing an excellent job in Free Agency

I think next year is the sink or swim year for EJ to show he is the guy. That being the case, and given that we don't seem to be in the bidding yet for a tackle from the better FA's out there I have to think we are going tackle in the draft. That or maybe Ebron if he is available. Actually as early as it may seem I think it may be make or break for Marrone to produce a winning season. -
Seven of us snuck through barbed wire and landmines, avoided south Vietnamese patrols and went into the town of Pleiku at night which was crawling wth VC control at the time. Then snuck back through landmines and barbed wire.....In a lifetime of dumb things this really ranks up there...Booze had a lot to do with the planning ad execution of thi adventure.

He may be a good choice to fill a position of need. Never can have too many liemen. I would have expected us to be going after one or more FA to fill a linebacker or even OT position. If we get a quality tackle it opens up our first round pick for someone like EBRON or a starting linebacker (Kahlil?)

Bills interest in Sanchez (possible starter)
tennesseeboy replied to judman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
no....just no....don't brng it up....don't even think about I...no... -
Guess they didn't get all hyped up on anyone else at the Pro day and took this guy to dinner. Obviously not a guy you would want in rounds one or two, but may be there in the third and worth a flyer. Although a cornerback with questionable cover skills wouldn't be awfully high on my list.
-
Why?Why? Whatever upside he had when he got out of prison (and there was some upside at that point) has pretty much dissipated by now. He's been rode hard and put away wet and I don't think he has much left to contribute, even as a backup. I'd look at other and cheaper backups assuming I didn't want to keep Thad Lewis. Use the cap money to get more and better linemen and linebackers.

who thinks we will go OT in the 1st round
tennesseeboy replied to Braedenstearns's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ot is the go to position. If we get the top TE or outstanding linebacker I could live with it, but I think the cream of this crop is the OT position and an effective OT would be critical to maintaining EJ's progress and to further open up the run game. you can never be too rich, too thin, or have too many offensive linemen. -
Look...who was the greatest linebacker of all time? Dick Buttkiss. Now if that isn't a gay name I just don't know what would be. All boils down to this...can the guy do the job, get us to the playoffs, win us a superbowl? If he can contribute there will be no problem. this is a profession and your advancement in the profession depends on what the team can do, and if Sam can make a significant contribution I say draft him and anyone who doesn't like it can find some other line of work.

I think the trading down may be an excellent option but the nine pick is so fluid. As the first five or six teams draft that I would think the Bills may find a couple of players that they would seriously want at that position. The trade down is an option if, say, a hot qb is available and some team is willing to offer a great deal for him.

Prospect of the week: Colt Lyerla, TE, Oregon
tennesseeboy replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As long as he brings Justin Bieber with him... -
He's not the first gay player in the NFL, just the first one to openly admit it. I can't help but think the country is far enough along that it won't be a big deal. The question is going to be how well he plays and if he can help his team. I admire his willingness to be so open about it and to take whatever heat might be there. Me...I'm hoping he's very successful and has a terrific NFL career.

The only exception I'm seeing to getting an OT is Ebron because I agree with you that he would be a huge difference right off the bat. I'm having a hard time getting around the need for an OT and the presence of three blue chippers right there on the board. I'd go for the OT but I wouldn't be too disappointed if they picked Ebron.
-
Who is going to help us get into the playoffs NEXT year? I think the OT is the key to opening up the running game and keeping EJ from missing games by providing excellent pass coverage. There are three blue chip OT's in the draft and one of them should fall to us. Whether they "like" the bills or not is irrelevant.
