  1. I guess Marchibroda. The K-gun and ramifications of the no-huddle and the tour trips to the SB is pretty hard to beat. Kelly certainly managed it well. I can't think of anyone with such a claim and would probably say Lou Saban for his two trips into the Bills in his developing the OJ offense, and the development of a more NFL type offense with Kemp, Gilchrist, Dubenion etc. would probably come in second.
  2. Sammy, as good as he may be, has some disturbing moments where he hardly seems to be working to get the ball. Contrast with Williams and Woods who have perhaps less talent but are ready to go and get the ball no matter what. Hell, though its only one game.
  3. We played badly and lost. However the fact that the SD offense only got 20 points is some testimony to our defense (which got beat in TOO MANY long passes.) EJ sucked, but he had a few moments and I'd expect him to get better. I don't see us in an awful position. Time to put on the big boy pants, put in the work and get things on track against a good Texan team.
  4. Every week so far has been a bigger challenge. I'm hoping we can really stake a claim this week with a win over San Diego. We seem to be a team on the rise so far.
  5. I was less than excited going into Chicago. After that game I figured at least we wouldn't be embarrassed. The Miami game moved me into believing we had what if takes to be quite good. A win against a team such as San Diego? Hell...I'll get excited as hell. Looks like an interesting season.
  6. The first catch I wondered where on earth the defensive back was and how he could BE that open. As the game progressed I became more and more convinced that this is really THAT good. San Diego will be double teaming him and that should open things up for our other first rate receivers. I'm not even going to mention the fact that our run game is pretty good too. We can "blame" the Chicago win on a poor Chicago team, but Miami is touted as a contender. Beat San Diego and we'll shut up a hell of a lot of sportcasters. I can't get over hearing Mad Dog dismissing the Bills last week with the comment that "they suck.". Go Bills, kick some butt.
  7. Kyle is excited because of the interception. He's thinking of moving out of position and playing free safety against the phins.....I still can't even imagine Jay Cutler's reaction in seeing KW make that interception. He kind of looked like a defensive back on that play.
  8. Bills 27 Dolphins 17. I think the run game is really exploited by the bills in this game and I see a special teams or defensive score for the Bills happening. Manuel and the receivers developing more and more each week. Woods is a freaking MAGICIAN and I hope he keeps doing what he is doing. I'm hopeful for sure and would love to see us win our first defensive game. I was listening to mad dog the other day and almost as an aside he dismissed the bills saying..Oh..the bills...they just suck...." I hope we kick some ass.
  9. I agree with you in that we are in a terrible emotional slump given preseason (and particularly qb) performance to date and a good solid win would go a long way toward reversing what I suspect is an unwarranted conclusion that we actually are as terrible as we have looked. I for one think we are better than we looked (not a huge leap given how terrible we actually looked) and might finish up in the middle of the pack. We win two or three of the first four and I might even get more excited.
  10. The Bills do not look good right now. This is Marrone's make or break year and he has thrown all the chips on Manuel to do the job. That's good as this is Manuel's make or break year. Using up two number one picks on Sammy is a gutsy move but it had better pay off right away...just sayin...I have a feeling that if we do not get to the playoffs this year the coaching carousel will begin again and the new guy will start looking for a qb.
  11. This is an important game, but remember itt is the first game of the season and against a non-divisional non-conference team of questionable talent. I'm not ready to call it the most important in a decade.
  12. There was the Cookie Gilchrist trade for Billy Joe.....then Lamonica and Bass for Powell and Flores....Then we let Dunaway and McDole go off the defensive line to star for the Redskins....we do have a pretty long history of really bad trades. I saw a list of Belichiks recent trades for number 1's and number 2's and I think about what we got for Lynch, Johnson et. al. We just don't seem to be able to tangle with the big boys.
  13. We are looking for an aggressive offensive lineman...not a guy to take our sister to the prom. We got rid of Marshawn Lynch because we thought he was an a-hole. I think if we looked a little more at whether the person could actually play the game. There is a reason we haven't been in the playoffs all of these years.
  14. And, if I'm not mistaken we traded a very good split end in Glen Bass.
  15. Ah yes....the same reason we didn't take Bryant McKinney over the virginal offensive tackle Mike Williams....
  16. How good is Watkins? If he is a pro-bowler or hall of famer this is a fine pick. If we draft some o-line help this makes sense. In the final analysis if Beckham or Ebron turn out to be outstanding we will have egg on our face. If Manuel gets sacked and hurt and Lewan plays lights out in Tennessee we will look stupid. Marrone and the front office are putting their jobs on the line for the new ownership with this selection, so Watkins had best be lights out good.
  17. Lewan at nine. OT is the place with arterial bleeding.
  18. I agree 100%. I can see trading up to get Clowney, Robinson or Matthews. Other than that I suspect we'll go Lewan or Evans or maybe trade down as there seems to be a lot of real talent in late first and in the 2D and 3rd picks. That's a gutsy call, isn't it? We either trade up or trade down or stay where we are. I'll bet the farm on that.
  19. I think the one single addition that will happen this year to improve the team is an offensive tackle, not a "tweener" DE/linebacker. The next most "improving" move would be WR and maybe a major heavy duty run stopper. I don't see trading down as a good idea given our needs and the depth of talent that will be there in this draft particularly in rounds two, three and maybe four.
  20. If the Bills were to trade up I would hope it would be for the best OT or Clowney. I like where they are and I like the depth in rounds two and three too much to suggest trading from those rounds to move up except for a franchise maker. We can get a very good OT in round 1 and a pretty good OT in round 2 and we can get an exceptional wr in round one and a darn good wr in round 2. In round three there will be all kinds of very good players to improve the team. All in all I'd like to see us play the hand we have.
  21. Wow...I'm as into drafting an OT at 9 as anyone, but that is under the assumption that one of the top three will be there. I saw Martin as one of the next level of OT's that would be available in round 2. There are four or possibly five OT's in that second round group. I say if we cant get Matthews or Lewan we should probably go for Evans or even Ebron and wait until round 2.
  22. I guess the smart money would go for Matthews for sure if he is there at nine. Otherwise Lewan or BPA Mike Evans might be the choice. Given that Evans actually is visiting us, and speculating it might very well be Evans and one of the pretty good "also ran" OT's in Round 2. Makes sense either way.
  23. Matthews has played RT and there is nothing to indicate that he wouldn't play right tackle. I just don't think he will last to 9...but if he does I'd take him. If he isn't there I'd take Lewan...If neither is there I'd go for the best wide receiver available over Ebron.
  24. no need to trade up for one of the three blue chip tackles. One of them will be there at 9. I don't understand why the hair pulling exists over RT vs. LT. The difference between the tackles is less and less and further the rt to lt transition is long respected. Not to mention that offensive linemen do get hurt. I see us getting Lewan at 9 but if Matthews falls to nine that would be fine. There are three OT's who would be a catch at 9 and fill a hole that we have right now. Let's not out-think ourselves as to what would happen three years down the pike.
  25. Play hardball. Tell them you can start immediately but only as a full time employee, and no probation. They will probably agree to the full time position and shorten the probation. If not you can take the termporary job and watch them waffle on the full time commitment. If you are going to jump ship make sure that you have something better without conditions.
