Marrone is someone the new ownership has to evaluate. The giving up two draft picks for Watson, drafting Manuel, failure to make playoffs works against him. Lackluster offensive performance works against him. I suspect he's on his last rodeo. If he gets another year it will be with a clear mandate. Playoffs or out.

My Sad Farewell as a Bills Fan
tennesseeboy replied to realtruelove's topic in Off the Wall Archives
LOh come on. We might even have a winning season this year. Rome wasn't built in a day. It was built in hundreds and hundreds of years over many lifetimes....the Bills are kind of like that. -
Revisiting the Lynch trade
tennesseeboy replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Worst trade since LaMonica and Bass for Flores and Powell. We got a fourth rounder, I think. Folks on the board were upset at his off field antics, and the the fools we had coaching didn't know how to use him. I laugh that some are talking about bringing Chan back to be OC...Maybe we can get to the playoffs bringing Dick Jauron to be DC. Get all the losers together to produce a winner. -
Give us your overall impression of Sammy Watkins

He is good. Not two first round draft picks good...but good. -
9 Who Should Be On The Way Out .....
tennesseeboy replied to BuffaninATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure that getting rid of the qb's is in the works. If we lose against GB I suspect they might want to give EJ a "last chance" at qb for the final games. As to Marrone...an 8-8 season works against him, as does giving up two years of first round choices to get Watkins when there were two or three WR's who were possibly as talented available. Getting rid of Marrone may not be a bad idea. -
I wish we had a first round pick. Nor having that I'd be as flexible as possible for a true first round talent who squeaks down to us, or go for an offensive lineman. We need a good guard or two and there will definitely be a few very good ones available in the second round. After that you gotta go for the best talents available.

Updated: The AFC Playoff Picture
tennesseeboy replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The playoofs are possible. Certainly very possible if we win out. It is not very likely we will beat New England and Green Bay...It is probable that we will beat Oakland. I love the Bills but even I have to admit it would take some unbelievable playing on our part to get to the playoffs. We can hope for some good luck and great play to get us there. But VERY possible? Nah...possible? Okay. -
HOF players you have seen play
tennesseeboy replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I suppose the first was Billy Shaw, Lance Alworth Joe Namath. I guess I saw a number of hall of fame worthy players in the AFL days. Cookie Gilchrist certainly was one of them. -
Who can the Bills least afford to lose to injury
tennesseeboy replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Orton...no question. After that any injury on the offensive line would be a catastrophe. Actually losing Williams would kill us. That's about one third of our team, I think. -
Where do you think we'll be in two weeks?
tennesseeboy replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we want to be a playoff team we have to win some games against very good teams. KC would be a good place to begin the run. I think Miami is a must win as it is in our division. I don't see us being favored in either game, but if we are going to make a statement the next two weeks are a good time to do it. -
Well...this week just confirmed that we have some very very tough teams on the schedule, but we kind of had that one figured out even before this week. We will have ourselves tested with Kansas City on Sunday and we'll just have to see after that. There is a reason we haven't been to playoffs in most people's memory and that is that playoff teams tend to be very good. Let's find out if we are very good. I'm pulling for us.
-
Interesting. We have a tough schedule ahead of us but our defense is about as good as it gets, Sammy is blossoming, and Hogan and Woods are looking good. Chandler is effective and hopefully Jackson will be back in a few weeks. Orton is looking very good and can only improve as he gets more experience with this offense. I am optimistic about our chances this year. Beating the Patriots and taking the division? Priceless.

Mathematical Model Of The AFC Playoff Picture
tennesseeboy replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looking at the schedule 9-7 would be a wise guesstimate. I think we'll go 10-6 and whether we win the division will depend on the game against New England. If New England takes the division, 10 wins are a pretty safe bet for a playoff spot. We can hope. -
Old bar hang out during the Aud years????
tennesseeboy replied to zonabb's topic in Off the Wall Archives
In the early to mid sixties there were a few VERY grody waterfront bars down from the Aud. -
I was pretty put off by the initial reporting from the CDC that essentially "blamed" her for getting the disease. I wish her well.

Trump the Chump ( Insults Terry and Kim )

Trump's last handling of a football team was the New Jersey Generals...Look at where he went with that.... -
This Sunday, against the New England Patriots....
tennesseeboy replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am wary about calling any game this early in the season a must win game....but.....New England has been the plug in our playoffs hope through this century. I think beating them makes a statement that we are in it to win it in the Division. There's win-loss overall, win-loss in the division, and the ongoing demonstration of invincibility against the Bills that NE maintains that will have to be addressed as we move into the playoff ranks. I may have to re-evaluate my theory that no game this early in the season is "the most important game of the year".. -
Why I think Marrone should be fired...
tennesseeboy replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Marrone is doing just fine bringing himself down as is the entire front office. Spending two first round draft picks on Watkins, letting Stevie Johnson go for a fourth round pick and the way we have played the last two games...the only way that Marrone can possibly save himself is to win the division or make the playoffs as a wild card. Put yourself in the owner's shoes....are you comfortable with the folks steering this ship? -
Orton will be a game manager who makes few mistakes and will be assisted by a great stable of running backs and a time eating chain moving run game. He won't win games, but, more important, he won't lose games. I see him as the better bet to get us to the playoffs. He is the only chance Marrone has of keeping his job. 9-6

Why I think Marrone should be fired...
tennesseeboy replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marrone will sinknorvswim on his win loss record. If we don't make the playoffs I can see majorvchanges so far the present group looks bad. Bad drafting, bad trading, bad negotiating bad on the field and off. I personallymthink the bills have what it takes if they getvtheircact together soon. If not i do not see the new owners letting this bunch continue. -
Bills Bench the Wrong Guy
tennesseeboy replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thI think benching EJ is right but it doesn't excuse other poor performers. I'm less than impressed with Sammy Watkins on any number of passes that he fails to execute on. He has great moments but certainly isn't a two first round draft choice kind of guy by a long shot. -
The "experts" take - Bills at Texans
tennesseeboy replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seems to me the game plan should be run first-pass second. Houston has trouble with the run game, we have a darn good running back triple threat and our line seems to run block better than they pass block. A good run game goes a long way toward a favorable time of possession. Our receivers had better perform better if they want the ball thrown their way, and our line had better think about pass-blocking in those few occasions where we do pass the ball. If we win we will dominate on the ground and have excellent time of possession. Bills 27-Texans-21.
