  1. Burnett had a great rookie year. Maybe the best rookie year ever for a buffalo bill? That is one hell of a claim, but his "one and done" career was a real shooting star. The injury sounds like one that would take a player out of the game even today. The Sestak article made me wonder why those talking about Andre Reed and other Bills as hall of fame prospects haven't brought him up? I suppose so much time has passed its beyond considering?
  2. "If Glenn pans out" is the million dollar question. I'm hoping as it is our biggest weakness and I'm surprised we didn't go for the best LT available with our first pick. That said, I'm hearing Glenn is looking good so far, and if he pans out, I think we'll hve a formidable offense.
  3. Sounds like a lunch bucket type of Buffalo Bill...dome to work and do the job. Wish him well.
  4. I'm with letting the play do the talking. I don't anyone is going to lose sleep over the bills defensive line until they show people they should lose sleep. One early regular season game with significant sacks and fumbles should do the trick.
  5. Well we got Lou Saban from the Patriots and was a pretty good coach. On the other hand I hate the patriots so much it would have been hard to live with Weiss. And I do agree with other posters that Charlie hasn't exactly been a hall of famer at the head coaching gig.
  6. One inch line? EVERY TIME? Do you know how many bad things can happen to a team's offense when they start on the one inch line? And punters don't get hurt as often as halfbacks, or even field goal kickers. you could go well into the playoff for over a decade with this guy.
  7. When I was a much younger attorney had a couple of drinks with Richard Burton at the International Bar next to the Edison Theater. Had lunch with Arthur Ashe (same table, sat with him) at a graduation at SUNY Brockport. Had Derek Sanderson at my house with my kid's hockey team. Talked with the following by phone while they were at my son's restaurant in Saratoga-Bill Parcells, David Cassidy (from Partridge Family). Worked with Tim Russert in Governor Carey's campaign. When in high school my brother and I were picked up by Elbert Dubenion while hitchhiking to the lake. Had dinner with Chris O'Donnel and one of his college chums at Lombardo's in Albany after golf. Got to after match boxing event after a heavyweight fight at the Aud and met Muhammad Ali, David Hasselhoff (not impressed) Janet Jackson.
  8. This is weird...the guys haven't played a season together, those that have played so far are losers, and we thing THEY are the best we've ever had????
  9. This was a very good movie...No Country for Old Men...but the ending left me in kind of a WTF mode. I suppose I shouldn't even mention it as a "worst" movie by any means...but it was a wierd ending.
  10. Levy and Marchibroda? Saban and Collier? How can you say that after a six win season? Hell...Mularkey and Jauron could make a claim to be better than Gailey and W. at this point in time.
  11. I saw a movie that was so bad that whent the film got stuck and burned up about 2/3's of the way through we gave a standing ovation and left a little extra money just to get out of the movie! I think it was an Adam Sandler filme with Kevin Costner in it.
  12. Think of it this way. Vilma files suit asks for broad discovery, deposes Goodell, Gregg, Sean Payton and others, has a ton of dirt that Goodell and others want private. He offers to settle and there is a quiet settlement with noone admitting defamation and the records remain confidential. Not a bad racket.
  13. we're committed to Nix for now. He had better show us something on the win-loss scheme of things or he and Chan will both be gone. I'm pretty hopeful that they will have a good year. Last year we were snake bit with injuries and we have had a few Nix/Gailey drafts under our belt and some very interesting personnel moves. Hopefully next year we won't even be discussing the possibility of replacing them.
  14. Talk to me at the end of the season. I don't remember a lot of talk about Wilson on this board, but if he makes rookie of the year I suppose an "I told you so" would be in order. Now if TJ Graham makes rookie of the year you might want to come on and give him some props. Actually its pretty unlikely either of them will be a flop or that either of them will be rookie of the year. It is likely that they will be both be starters, as is expected from a first round pick.
  15. RIP...and we always knew you were a softie deep down...well...really way deep down.
  16. Are we ranking them as quarterbacks for their career or for their time with the Bills? Harris, Lamonica and Bledsoe would rank a bit higher taking their entire career into consideration. I LOVE Kemp and don't get me wrong, but I would have to put him at a draw with Griese or (God forbid) give Griese a slight edge. Good list though...although I don't see Hobert the playbook guy anywhere...or Dan Darragh...or Gary Marangi...or Richie Lucas..or Warren Rabb?
  17. If he is going to play as a Bill, it seems that Gaurd is the best option. He's had his year to train...so it is put up or leave time for him. I wish him well, and hope he's successful.
  18. I was in a bar in Rochester, and left to do a chore at half time, Listened to the most of the second half on the radio and got to a tv with about 6 minutes left. Great great game.
  19. Pollian made some great moves. I thought the key move was the Biscuit trade which seemed to take our defense "over the top" I don't mean that Biscuit was better than Smith, Kelly, Reed, Thomas or Reed...he was the tipping point and there was a lot mover elbow grease involved in getting that deal done than in making the (clearly) very wise moves in the draft.
  20. Right...and those brilliant moves gave us a six win season.
  21. As long as there is an Adam Sandler and a Kevin Costner, we will have bad movies.
  22. Exactly. However Lynch didn't need to be a spare part, and Evans, based on our failure to field an effective #2 wide receiver wasn't a spare part. And, in drafting spiller, we brought in another "spare part" when we had major "contributor" needs.
  23. wow...you added three of my all time favorites in James, Green and Chandler. the two hall of fame offensive linemen probably deserve to be in there though. I found it hard to keep Levy off. I hope NFL does a best buffalo bills segment.
  24. I saw him play a game against Arkansas while he was at Tennessee. Arkansas had the game won but the Razorback qb fumbled with very little time left. Tennessee gave the ball to Henry five or six straight times and he scored the winning td with almost no time left. after the third or fourth run Arkansas was playing an 11 0 0 defense to no avail. Greatest rushing exhibition I've ever seen. Gritty guy.
