  1. Well, he might very well have had a wife. Which gets us into a thousand years of speculating whether he had a kid.
  2. If Jackson and Spiller are out I suspect McIntyre will see more running action along with Choice. The o-line is doing great on run blocking and we might get a basic grind the hell out of them and keep moving the chains kind of running game until Jackson and/or Spiller are back, which will be pretty physically punishing for one back. I liked what I saw of McIntyre's play yesterday and can see him and Choice doing some damage.
  3. in the final analysis good quarterbacks win and less than good quarterbacks lose over the course of a season. Brady, Romo, the Mannings, Rodgers and others have bad plays and downright dumb plays. Its throwing three interceptions and coming back to win that makes a quarterback good or bad. When Fitz takes us to the playoffs...he's good. Until that happens? Sloppy and erratic with good moments.
  4. Drunken pos....we have them...actually we seem to have more of them than most places.
  5. Very important game. The jets are perceived to be a weak to middling team, so beating them will probably indicate where we stand in the league. Its a divisional game. Its a chance to see if we are for real or just another buffalo bills mediocre to bad team. My prediction? Bills win by ten and begin the road to a minimum of nine wins.
  6. I'm not all that afraid of the Jets offense, so a no huddle might be a good idea, assuming we use the run game as if we had Thurman Thomas in the backfield. Jackson and Spiller can do a ton of damage and spell each other in the process. Get the running game going and the passing game may open up. The Jet defense may be intellectually "ready" for a no huddle, but come the end of the half they may be physically drained.
  7. I think the difference will be our unning game. I expect Jackson to be a beast, supprlemented by Spiller. We didn't seem much during the preseason and I can see us using two tight ends from time to time to supplement the running game. Stevie will be tied up with Revis throughout the game, so I see a lot of short to medium range passes. I think the Bills win 24-17
  8. I would think of the Gailey Nix experiment as a failure if we did not get nine or more wins this season. Based on what moves we've made in free agency this year, the last two drafts, and Gailey's game day strategies I believe that nine is a conservative demand. Based on preseason, I'd say its a stretch. However I don't think we did all that bad in preseason and in any event preseason is not what we should go on. Conclusion.....we get nine or more wins this year. I agree with the original poster that the playoffs would be unlikely....but hey...there's always hope.
  9. its a performance world. You have as many years and starts as he does and the team rightfully expects a high level of performance, which he didn't reach.
  10. Not really. Pre season for the offense seemed to be, as it should, the trying out of a variety of looks and options. We didn't do much running, the lines seemed to be coming along. A little concern about Fitz's passing might be justified, but I want to see what he does when it counts. I'm still counting on nine wins from this team.
  11. 9 wins is only one more win than a .500 season and seems a very realistic target. I'm not willing to believe that there are no coaches in the United States who could not be hired in Buffalo. If the team is THAT bad, I'd expect that a move would be in order to a place where a competent coach could be hired for the good of the league. Losers think like losers and are content. Winners set stretch goals and try to reach them.
  12. yeah...but there were actual veteran offensive linemen ahead of him. To be fair Glenn didn't exactly "earn" his way to left tackle, he stepped into a vacuum. Nonetheless he is playing extremely well and is going to be great asset to tthe team. http://www.freep.com/article/20120813/SPORTS01/120813049/detroit-lions-riley-reiff
  13. misuse of the word...my bad. I happen to think they both might have been replaced after last year, but the winning streak and injuries led me to think they might be able to show something this year. All I'm saying is ...."SHOW ME SOMETHING"...which in most football cities means win more games than you lose after a number of years, drafts and personnel moves. I don't think nine wins is too much to ask. Nine wins or out.
  14. This has been the achilles heel of the offense, more so than ANY other position. If he can fill it well, I am very optimistic about the offense this year. I'll be comfortable when we get about three or four very high quality offensive linemen to add significant depth. I have not been optimistic AT ALL about the people who have filled that position since Peters left, and for the first time I am hopeful we have solved this problem.
  15. I'm not impressed by his won/lost record over time. Its a combination of poor judgement, less than opportunistic trading and drafting, and until recently disingenuous decision making in free agency. Williams may be a break from that last issue. All said and done, if there aren't nine or more wins this year we should get another coach and gm.
  16. Riley Rieff seems to be doing well for Detroit, but all in all Glen seems to be progressing nicely and he was a second round choice. Too early to say definitely but Glen is looking like a good choice.
  17. My son was playing hockey for Aquinas and the Jr. Amerks, and used my camaro for a lot of his practice and games. The car smelled so bad after a couple of months I gave it to him. I can't imagine he dated much in that thing with all of that smelly equipment sitting in the back. When he played in college the locker room would gag a maggot after games.
  18. I had that happen when I wanted to play pee wee football. I was nowhere near the size of that guy, but over the weight limit for the team. My son had the same thing happen when he played, but only missed by seven pounds. He worked out and dieted and then weighed in on the day of the first game and made it. They have to be careful about injuries, and the rules are understandable. If you are the kid who misses the limit by less than a pound it can seem very unfair.
  19. The question is more do we keep an extra defensive lineman or an extra linebacker. I think this game is really important for the purpose of talent assessment in those two areas. Either way we are going to let some very good players go. If I were any other team I'd be watching our cuts in both the d-line and linebacker corps with interest.
  20. Outta rehab and declaring for the draft. He'll get an agent and have one of those "conversions" and be a first round pick. He'll probably even be a top ten pick.
  21. hmm..I expect the first team in for a few more series, more reps with no-huddle and it becoming considerably more effective. Lots of passing again, in order to sort out the quality of receivers and get Fitz used to them. I expect the defensive line to come together, as the lineup seems to have jelled. See all sorts of linebacking combinations as the staff sees who they are going to keep and even how many they can keep. Sparing use of the running game, just enough to give the starters some reps and familiarity with the o-line. Young should make a statement this game. I'm curious why Brad gets a pass as the number 3 for wildcat purposes when Young is probably a better runner. I'm not saying for sure I would take Vince over Brad, just wonder why he isn't discussed in the mix for that. The three qb is the disaster back as much as the wildcat back, and if we take them both into the mix, I suspect Young would be a serious candidate.
  22. The problem is we aren't scoring enough TD's. We get to the playoffs we can deal with dancing in the end zone issues. Keep your eye on the prize and your energies and talents into winning football games. All the rest is bullshyt.
  23. Was at the mumford, as was a group of us from Johnson City. Rhythm and Roots is a must for any of us in East Tennessee!
  24. Don't we ALWAYS have three guys either out or playing out of position?
