  1. Depending on how good Davis and Pope are we might be looking at a tight end as a number one pick? All of those high quality DT's on the board almost insures we can get a good one in round two, and it appears round two will certainly have plenty of quality linemen. I wonder that we aren't seeing suggestions (horrors!!) that we actually trade down to get another second round choice.
  2. I was hoping Max Jean Giles might last to be our first second round pick...but I guess that is not realistic. I'm thinking Ngata will probably be our number eight and we will get an o-line man or two or possibly a second defensive tackle with our second round picks. There will be LOTS of great talent at tight end, offensive line and defensive tackle available in round two so I'd be extremely reluctant to trade up at all.
  3. Its a long season, and a few losses don't mean much, particularly close losses. I imagine if they get into the NCAA tournament it will have to be by winning the conference. My school ETSU got in two out of the last years and came a basket from beating Wake Forest in the first year and lost on the last shot to Cincinnatti two years ago. We're hoping to make it this year as the bid from the A-Sun conference. College basketball is a marathon. I'd love to see UB (my alma mater) in the tournament.
  4. What are you doing on a russian website, Joe!!! Jennifer apparently has worldwide appeal.
  5. Good point. I think we will see quite a bit of fluctuation, and there may be new parties in the mix with underclassmen declaring for the draft. Brick might possibly make it to eighth, as another poster pointed out even with the draft as it stands today. Until he imploded I though Marcus Vick might break into the top ten (I think he has moved to a very risky high second round pick for someone and going down by the moment.)
  6. It is possible that Brick will make it down to eighth, and if so we would be insane not to draft him. I suspect will get Ngata as a consolation prize though. The tight end I would want is Leonard Pope out of Georgia, assuming he enters the draft. I have a hunch he will last till the high second round and he will be outstanding. (This from the guy who pushed for us to draft Jason Witten)
  7. Wow...which is more serious, Ebola virus or arterial bleeding? The O-line is awful and gave us the worst offense imaginable. The Defensive ends are good (Schobel) to mediocre (Denney) with one fairly good defensive tackle (Adams). Further the linebackers can compensate somewhat for a weak defensive line. I'll hold my nose and say its the offensive line, but not far ahead of the defensive line. The defensive line will be mediocre with the addition of a defensive tackle. The o-line needs about three starters to approach mediocre.
  8. I don't see any reason to give up on the kid. He should have started the last two games if at all possible, and should get plenty of playing time in preseason. Unfortunately I think next year is a rebuilding year anyway, so let's see how he develops then.
  9. Well, we need a quarterback who can operate the k-gun, and I haven't seen anything in Losman yet that would indicate he has the brains for it. Further the team has to be operating from the same page, and I sure haven't seen that yet. Still further, since the K-gun doesn't use up a lot of time, I'd think we'd have to shore up our defensive line tremendously. That being said, I'm not ready to say that Losman definitely does not have the brains, that the offense (with some quality additions on the o-line) doesn't have the capacity for operating on the same page, or that with the mere addition of two great defensive linemen, might not be of the caliber to make it work. I don't think the k-gun would work next year...but maybe the year after.
  10. Hopefully Marv will get us a real offensive line before the beginning of the next season. We really don't know about McGahee or Losman...or for that matter Holcomb...until we get that straightened out. Right now it looks like both WM and JPL are something of a disappointment but give them an offensive line and a good tight end and we can take their measure. IId if they can't perform we address that next year. I'm hoping they can and will perform.
  11. I like that. No pussyfooting around with general improvements and solving this problem or that problem. Set forth the ultimate objective and then start the process toward getting there. When was the last time anyone on the bills actually said that was THE objective of the team?
  12. Mistake to keep him, but it looks like we are stuck with it. Let's see if he learns something in the next year. To have coached a game like Miami in his SECOND year here tends to make me very dubious...but we have to live with it even if it means another bad to mediocre season before we rebuild. I believe Levy will take over the draft and cure the line problems (as if everyone doesn't know that is what has to be done.) and after MM gets fired next year the new coach will have a good chance for success.
  13. I suspect Marv is doing this to help Ralph out. That being said I think he will be a real asset in recruiting new assistant coaches, running the draft process, and especially in finding a permanent GM. I'm betting on him doing well in starting a process that will get us into the playoffs in two or three years. He's a great guy and I'm betting on him to do right by the Bills.
  14. I'd have said "no way" but Levy may be the guy who has the say on it and he might very well want Haslett. Do you think Wilson will be willing to pay the bucks necessary to get him as DC? I wonder if Haslett will wait for something better with all of the head coach openings. These positions may be hard to fill with Ralph's decisions to fire assistants rather that head coaches when things go bad. Wade, Williams and apparently Mularky went through this ritual...and it must carry some weight with potential assistant candidates. Mularky's position here must be somewhat tenuous...another reason to think we might have problems in recruiting. Haslett would be a good DC, but I'd be very surprised if we get him...SEE YOU AT FRENCHY'S
  15. high cost of quality Asst. Coaches. This may mean that replacing those we let go and keeping those who stayed might get rather expensive.
  16. You are absolutely right. There is too much to be done on the offensive line,to go for any of the three. It would be a hard swallow, but I'd go for Ferguson as well.
  17. I LIKE the lady who does my dry cleaning. Idon't want her coaching the Bills.
  18. Marvelous Zoo. The kids would love to see the Peabody ducks at the Peabody Hotel. There is a great Aquarium that has opened recently. Beale St. for the adults. Visit the motel where MLK Jr. was assassinated. Eat barbecue at the Rendezvous (a life changing experience.) Lots of Elvis things (but the kids may not appreciate.)
  19. Definitely Custer and the Seventh Cav. this year.
  20. Well...I suspect Bobby is a hot commodity. If we don't do it, don't be surprised if he ends up as a DC somewhere else within a year or two.
  21. Good point. Remember though that April has had more than a little success working in this garage on some of the better defensive cars we have playing (McGee for instance.).
  22. That is the major downside I see too. On the balance it seems we go with retread and unsuccessful co-ordinators, with failed head coaches, or with April. This is not a situation a stellar candidate would want. Two star players at odds with the head coach, a head coach on probation with the GM (who has a proclivity to fire co-ordinators rather than head coaches) and a team that doesn't appear to an unbiased outsider to have playoff caliber talent and a very unappealing quarterback situation. April is a winner, believes in the team, has the team believing in him and has earned a chance.
