  1. Albany River Rats hockey? A friend of mine played for a high school football team called "the Dots" and then played for the U of Hawaii and was a "Rainbow".
  2. If it is true that RW won't pay for assistant coaches we will probably be sunk. Read recently that Nick Saban has in effect broken the bank in hiring assistant coaches and that quality assistants will be hard to find (or keep!!) at existing price scales. The Miami standard will probably become the base in this season and RW will have to cough up as I don't think we are the most attractive franchise in the NFL right now. I suspect the talk about RW being cheap is probably over rated and he will cough up what we need...(God I HOPE that is true!)
  3. Now what guy in his right mind would bail out on a contract for millions without some financial incentive for so doing. I'd be willing to bet there is a "secret" financial settlement which we will be hearing about in the next week or two.
  4. I would endorse this move as it will insure that April stays with the Bills. I think he is the most valuable coach we have and it would also put him in line for consideration for head coach at some point in the future.
  5. hmmm...an alcoholic and drub abuser telling a lie? Now that's a first.
  6. I've always been of the opinion that you get respect when you earn it. Winning the Super Bowl is a good way to do that. Winning your division is a good start. Losing to Miami after a 21 point lead...now that will go a long way toward losing respect.
  7. Wow...tough choices. Thurman gets my vote along with Aikman, White, Madden and Greenwood. I wonder if they will favor wilson over Madden on the basis that Ralph doesn't have a lot of opportunities left to get in, and that he is almost the last of the living founders of the AFL.
  8. http://football.about.com/od/nationalfootb...uewright.htmery interesting. It would be great if we could pull that off.
  9. I used to love to go to Austin Peay games...the cheer there was (no kidding) "Go Peay!" I think the qb is our annual Zachee Wadood choice.
  10. Sounds like a plan. I really think we'd be hurting without him next year.
  11. Not backpedaling. If Ferguson were available at 8 I'd take him I might even be tempted if Reggie Bush were available at 8...That isn't going to happen. I think we have to draft Ngata (not because he is the best player...becauses he will most likely be the best player available at a position of critical need for the Bills (DT and OT). I thought Pope would slip under the radar and be available in the high second round, and if that should happpen (about as likely as Bush, Ferguson or Young being available at 8) we should draft him. I suspect Ngata would be available somewhere lower than eigth, so a trade down might work. Just because we need a tight end, doesn't mean we need ANY tight end. There are two out there worth first round picks. There are many more DT's and OT's that are available in the second and third. Allen definitely is backpedaling from my contention that the O-line (including tight end) and d-line were the paramount criteria, but I have a hunch he may be overlooked until well into the third round and hopefully by then we'll be comfortable enough with the line picks to chance it.
  12. There may be a good reason he doesn't have many miles on him.
  13. Right...he would also chew JP and or Holcomb up in the press, criticize the coaches and be a cancer on this team just like he has been for every team he has played with.
  14. I really do like Pope..but I'm getting convinced too many folks like him for the first round. Vern will clearly go in the first round. I would LOVE to get either of them as I think they are exactly what we need at the position we need to fill almost as badly as OT and DT. I guess I might give up on Allen the safety (who I think will be one of the best players available in the third or fourth round because of his injury.) for a good tight end. If Pope slips into the second round, of course I would go for him. As the days go by and he is getting assessed so highly, I don't think that will happen.
  15. ONe of the five greatest atheletes to ever play in Buffalo.
  16. No...I don't see this team recovering the fumble in a situation like that.
  17. Third round picks Jesse Mahelona (DT Tennessee) and Safety Jason Allen (Tennessee...would have been a first round pick, but coming off an injury.)
  18. Young sounds like a good choice for them on the merits. I think we are going to see Leinhart, Bush, Young and Ferguson go in the first five and they will be very lucky indeed to get him. A lot can happen leading up to draft day though.
  19. I was less than impressed. My daughter took me to see Hostel last night. Tarantino and crew have definitely outdone themselves in the gore department.
  20. Walt Cudzik. I am boycotting the Hall of Fame until he gets in.
  21. I might be mistaken but I think Witten ended up as Dallas third round pick. I remember Witten (who played high school ball around here and at University of Tennessee) being chosen shockingly late (for those of us who were admirers of his, and certainly for him and his family) While I like Pope, I would certainly defer to a great lineman at the DT or OT position.
  22. Jack Kemp is looking pretty chipper these days. He did it once in the AFL, let's see if he can do it now.
  23. keep him at tackle. He's the one bright spot on the existing offensive line.
  24. "...would lose the next three superbowls too." ....oh my
  25. The Bills trade their choice with Minn. (17). The Bills pick Ngata DT. With their three second round picks they take Max-Jean Gilles (G), Jonatan Scott (OT-Texas) and Rodrique Wright (DT-Texas wright
