  1. I think we play Losman this year and cut him if he doesn't come through. I'd hate to see us cut him and have him shine for someone else. Ramsey doesn't offer an improvement. We could look for another "Bledsoe", but I just think that would keep Losman in limbo and result in a 7 or 8 win season with us still not resolving the quarterback problem. Let's find out what we have. I suppose if we really were ready to quit on Losman WE could choose Cutler at number 8 but I am certain that if we don't fix the o and d line right now we aren't going anywhere, even with Peyton Manning or Joe Montana or Jim Kelly at q-back.
  2. I'd prefer we stay with another old guy there and hire Cottrell. The OC is the position that will decide whether we succeed or fail.
  3. trade down if we can make a good deal and get another second round. if not...McNeil or Winston I'm hoping Ngata will be there A fourth option...draft Cutler the QB from Vanderbilt and trade him for first round and a DT if available. I think Cutler will be looking good for someone like Dallas or even Miami. This a pretty risky option.
  4. I just finished Doris Kearn's Goodwin's book "A Team of Rivals" about Lincoln and his cabinet. Lincoln was probably a worst pick than Jauron. His rivals by any standards were better on paper and from experience for the position of President. As it turned out he was the best of them all, in fact hiring many of his rivals as "Assistant Coaches" to cabinet positions. On reflection, despite the fact that I do not in any way see any reason to hire this guy...he's the coach and I'm pulling from him to hire first rate people and show leadership.
  5. I agree with both of the above. Remember the people selecting the person to interview are considering how much of THEIR power they are going to give up or share and what authority over the team they are willing to give to someone else. Hiring or even considering someone who will want a good part of their power or who in some cases will not want interference within their own scope of power (hiring and firing asst. coaches for instance) might make interviewing such a person less attractive.
  6. Gotta disagree on Delaware Park...Frederick Law Olmsted park and a beauty at that. You get a chance read "City Of Light" a novel about Buffalo at the turn of the century. I can't imagine the protesters were the concern as much as the Robert Moses thinking that went into the greatest building boom in the history of the world (See Robert Caro's Power Broker.)
  7. And he's shown us how difficult it is to win in this league his whole career. "Others look to Bill Walsh, and Bill Parcells as a mentor...for my it was Kay Stephenson and those Bills of a fondly remembered era"
  8. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. It smells like ....Victory" The Bills stink of defeat. The team had a considerable amount of talent at the beginning of the year and managed defeat. The coach and gm were guys playing out a string all season long...losers. Games were phoned in. There is no sense of victory of any kind. Is Jauron going to change that? With a record of losing? I don't know where this team is going to get the turn around and win feeling. There isn't a Jim Kelly or Bruce Smith on the team. Polian isn't there...and RW is not the RW of old. How do you get rid of the all pervasive cloud of defeat? I think Sherman might have begun the process.
  9. I think he and Mularkey might be very good as Assistant Head Coaches in Miami. Makes me hearken back to my advocating for Nick Saban for Buffalo a few years back (OHH...he'd never leave LSU) Miami is setting a whole new pay scale for assistant coaches (and Washington is competing for the lead.) Thank God we have Jauron and the other loser he's bringing with him.
  10. Willis will start running like OJ simpson and the O-line, after a marvelous Marv draft will be the new "Electric Company." Defensive Tackle Ngata will be named to the first of seven pro-bowls. Future Hall of Famer Sam Aiken will take to the "Jauron Juggernaut" which will have all of forgetting the K-Gun. After a coffeKlatsch in his second week as HC Eric Moulds, Sam Adams, and Nate Clements all will emerge from Starbucks holding hands with Jauron and JP and singning Shout and Kumbayah. Training camp will be moved to Brokeback Mountain and the team will show a unity unheard of in the annals of football. What great days lie ahead!
  11. Bea Arthur. Won't swell....won't tell...grateful as hell.
  12. Jauron will do what he's told. That's why he was hired. I'm not sure Jauron will have much credibility with the team if they take the same position as last year. I'll just wait and see how it plays out. I think Sherman would have started JP, seen what he could deliver, and then look for a new quarterback the season after next. I don't know if Jauron has the chops to do that.
  13. How about every person we interviewed except Dom Capers?
  14. Makes a lot of sense to me. The way Marv took care of getting rid of a bad coach (Mularkey) was to find a worse one. (Jauron). The way to get rid of a (perceived) bad QB (Losman- but I think he hasn't had much a chance) is to get a proven loser (Harrington.)
  15. The media storm would be a piece of cake if we make the playoffs next year. If Marv and Dick want to shut us up...that's all they have to do. I'll be the first in line in sack cloth and ashes if that happens. Given DJ's track record I kind of doubt it, but stranger things have happened.
  16. Great school...Classmates of mine were Wolf Blitzer and Harvey Weinstein of Miramax. Daughter is applying to UB Law School.
  17. losing coach hires a loser OC. What do you call that thing where you do the same thing over and over and expect different results?....oh....insanity
  18. Given his won-loss record they don't mind playing against him either.
  19. Sounds like a nice way to start a dynamic coaching career. Just so he doesn't pretend to be the alpha male.
  20. Jauron, together with ML will have plenty of opportunity to proved themselves in the next few months withhiring assistant coaches, re-signings, free agency and the draft. I suspect that we'll know what we have before the next season begins based on how they handle themselves before the first coin toss.
  21. Thought Williams was a bad choice, but lived with it Thought Mularkey wa a bad choice but lived with it. Think Jauron is a bad choice, but I'll live with it. The more things change...
  22. I've always believed that the biggest mistake made in Buffalo was in the late sixties when they decided to build SUNY Buffalo in Amherst rather than the downtown waterfront. That would have added tens of thousands of students, thousands of employees, and new rebirth to the city.
