  1. And unlike the women of Dallas...who have testicles!
  2. My favorite city, not too far from the polish border is Lviv or Lvov (russian or ukrainian spelling). Fascinating Ukrainian city and hardly any tourists. Vinnitsa and some other Baltic cities in Belarus are supposed to be great. I'm going back to Eastern Europe as a Senior Fulbright Scholar (hmmmm...too many things I'm involved in these days have "senior" attached to them.) in September and October and am hoping to spend a day or two in Prague on my way in or on my way out.
  3. Haven't you always paid for it? Ohh..wait a minute..the summer you and Larry tended sheep on Brokeback! I spent last year in Ukraine but most of my ex-pat friends insisted that Prague was the best of cities, although getting to be very touristy. The sights are to behold. Don't know about the women there, but if they are half as pretty as the ones in Kiev they will beat anything you will find on this continent (outside of Tennessee, that is.).
  4. If you are right it is pretty close to a whole new team. I suspect we need an offensive left tackle, to resign Adams and get a good defensive tackle. I think Losman and McGahee might be able to do the job if there is a good line in front of them. Two positions and a re-signing and I think we contend for a wildcard playoff berth. To win the divisional championship we need great improvement from Losman and McGahee as we are NOT going to get a quarterback from available veterans or the draft who will do it this year and I don't think we are going to use our first draft choice to get a running back when we need the DT and OT as badly as we do. We have to re-sign everyone...Moulds, Clements, and Adams. A quality tight end would be important, and I would cross my fingers with the linebacking and the aging safety situation. Good coaching is essential
  5. If a man and a woman get a divorce in South Carolina...are they still brother and sister? What has 36 legs and 14 teeth? The University of South Carolina cheerleading squad.
  6. That made me wonder if Indy Dave was still posting. He worked for the NCAA and had a real handle on college basketball. I'm optimistic about East Tenn. State Univ. Tim Smith, a 5-8 qaurd just went over 2000 points (around 7th in scoring and near the top in steals in the nation) and got the first triple double in our college's history last night. We're in a new conference and are hoping to go to the dance for the third time in four years.
  7. Hell...I can name two Buffalo Bills qb's that performed well in their first year...Dennis Shaw (never performed all that well after), and Darryl LaMonica. I think Joe Ferguson wasn't bad his first year, but I may be wrong. Of course the gold standard must be Dan Marino.
  8. puzzling...but let's see what they do. We go to the playoffs it won't matter what their record last year was. We don't, I can't imagine they will be around very long.
  9. Are there any other races you would like to offend this morning?
  10. Love the International Museum of Photography behind the Eastman House. Was involved the Photo Archives brouhaha years ago with Ross Perot, the University of Texas and all that resulted in its creation.
  11. 1. Revamp offensive line. (Makes a big dent on the Seymour problem.) 2. Revamp defensive line. (makes a big dent on the Brady problem) 3. Get a good tight end. 4. If Losman doesn't perform...get a quarterback.
  12. "Jerry, you are free to seek another coaching job elsewhere. We're doing our best to help you in your endeavor, cleaning out your office, shutting off your phone, and we've gotten your laptop and taken the cell phone so that people in the organization won't be in your way. Kind of an incentive for you and so that we don't give potential employers the idea that we'll counter offer is the fact that we've taken your parking spot. Just as a contingency plan for when you get that job we've begun interviewing other DC candidates. Best wishes, Jerry, and we're certain you'll do just fine."
  13. Good point Dave. I think we should pretty darn worried about whoever we play. I can't imagine any other team boards are posting concerns that the Buffalo Bills worry them.
  14. I think we have to kind of suspend judgment and take him on faith and hope he performs well. No way we can color his record into anything that would give evidence he has performed well overall as head coach. The win-loss record over five years of coaching is not something he can get around. He did have that coach of the year season and maybe he's got something ML is seeing and we aren't. This is a real leap of faith in the face of lots of evidence that we made a mistake, but let's just wait and see. Many years ago I remember telling a first shirt, "You can make us eat sh--...but you can't make us say it tastes good."
  15. I like Cutler..but he's notJimbo. Jim Kelly had a very bad shoulder injury which kept him out for his senior year and he had to have a special tryout before the draft to show he still had it. (Boy he sure did!) Given that and the fact that there were other very hot quarterback prospects (Marino et. al.) in the draft I wouldn't put much stock in the place he was picked. He'll be a good quarterback pick, but we don't have the luxury to make it until we deal with out line problems.
  16. I'm 90 miles from UT. Seen him play eight or nine times as SEC is very big here. A good quarterback from Vanderbilt (of all things!) is going to get noticed.
  17. Cutler is a nice mid round first pick for a team that needs a quarterback, but he isn't Joe Namath or Jim Kelly or Peyton Manning. I wouldn't use our first round pick to get him but would see us trading so someone else could. Cutler couldnt do any more than Losman is doing with our present O-Line. Let's take care of that first.
  18. If Ferguson or Ngata are available, I doubt we will be interested in trading down. If they aren't I wouldn't be surprised if we get calls from Dalls, Miami and perhaps other teams interested in Cutler. Depending on how in love with Cutler they are, we might end up getting players like Winston and/or McNeill at the high teens of the first and have two options in the second round of a deep draft for Linemen. I think there was a post saying that 8 was an ideal spot for us. While I'd love any of the seven preceding spots, I think 8 might be one of the most interesting spots for us in terms of options.
  19. I think he's on the learning curve and expect him to be much better next year. I don't understand for the life of me why we didn't play him the last two games. If he doesn't establish himself next year we will have to get someone else, but the dumbest ...DUMBEST...thing we could do this year would be to give up our first and or second draft choice for another quarterback. I don't think we should draft and keep Jay Cutler (this year's JP) if available although drafting him and trading him may be an option. I say let Losman develop and I think he will be our quarterback of the future. If not...dump him after next season.
  20. I said making the playoffs. I think we were actually much better than our record indicated last year, but not a playoff team. I can't imagine we won't draft and free agent our way to a much better o-line and d-line and I (apparently in the minority) think WM and Losman can play much better with the help that the revamped o-line can give. I'd consider making the playoffs next year a minimum for a successful season.
  21. That's a very likely scenario, which I've posited for about two weeks now. I suspect it will be Dallas or Miami and I think we will get an extra second or third AND the Defensive or Offensive Tackle that we need.
