  1. He might be worth a chance in the second round, but I suspect we are going linebacker in round one, and there are going to be some great picks for us in round 2 (qb, wr, offensive linemen) that we would have to go with before Teo. Besides, I'mt thinking Honey Badger in round 3 and he's about as much risk as I am going to want to take in this draft. You are right though in that I'm suspecting Teo will fall into early round 2.
  2. Lets assume two things...he's off the charts in the combine...and my due diligence satisfies me that he's matured considerably....The highest I would go would have to be third round. Fourth is where I would be most comfortable that I had a good deal.
  3. Stranger things have happened. Imagine Jacksonville and some other team in a bidding war for Smith. Holmgren knows he has to perform right out of the box and the best qb -draft, free agency or trade-by far is Smith. I can't imagine that the 49ers wouldn't go for the gusto in that situation. Well...let's just wait and see. I think it will be a one or a two.
  4. I have a feeling that they are giving up that number one draft choice to get Smith. Joeckel may just be another magnificent offensive lineman in the 49er stable.
  5. yeah...and if I were one of the players he recruited and coached for four years and found out he wasn't pitching for me I'd have an issue with him. Yeah..he's the coach of the Bills and not the Orange...but one might question his commitment to players that have played for him. Before you all put him in the hall of fame, why don't we wait and see how he coaches in an actual game?
  6. If the guy lasts to round 4 he would be a major steal. I suspect that if we want him we should take him in round 3. I'd have to kick the tire and look under the hood on this guy and find out if he is just a wild kid who may have matured or a bona fide head case.
  7. Let's start with this presumption. Marrone should do better next year than the Bills did this year. He should be in the running for the division title in year 2 and he should be in playoffs by year 3. This honeymoon concept of "wasting" a year is bull. You have a good solid draft, get an actual player who can help you in free agency, and develop a playbook. You are either moving forward or you are moving backward.
  8. i think we have to go with a quarterback in round 1 or in round 2. I love the idea of Jarvis Jones in round 1. I think we need linebackers more than anything, and see us using a few picks in that direction.
  9. I think Fitz is not in the plans of the present administration at this time. I guess the best way to put it is ...he's out until he's in. He'll hang around for part of pre-season, but unless he shows something great he'll be gone before the season opens up. That is...unless we draft a qb in round 1 and in that case I don't see Fitz even being on the roster at the start of training camp.
  10. I got it fifteen years ago ater running the Gasparilla 15k. The prescription then was rest and ice and I had a neat exercise I got from my brother who is a high school track coach which involved freezing a soda can and rolling it. Took a long time to heal and actually was the last straw to my racing career. Never really got into it again.
  11. The new coach has a selling job to do. You aren't going to find a Byrd or a Levitre in the draft or free agency. He'd better convince them he's going to turn the team around. Ralph can then open up the wallet and make something happen.
  12. Grant and Walker would fill positions of real need. I see us drafting a linebacker or lineman with our number 1 and a qb with our number two. I like the Notre Dame tight end, but don't think he's going to make it to round 3.
  13. Left from Albany to go home, spent a night in Syracuse, a night in Rochester, and ended up arriving at the Buffalo Bus Station and got a ride home from a kind snowmobiler. Awful experience.
  14. I guess the only qb we ever had was good enough is Jim Kelly who actually did take us to the superbowl four times. The was I see it the bills qb's ranking should be Kelly, Kemp successful in playoffs) Ferguson, Lamonica, Bledsoe (short career here for both, of course) Flutie, (now its just bad qb's) Edwards, Collins, Johnson, Losman and a bunch of truly awful guys (Darragh, Manuci, Stephenson). Flutie imhop is a second tier qb as a Buffalo Bill, and Johnson falls into the really bad category.
  15. Alex Smith = Drew Bledsoe. If he isn't the guy for San Francisco, he's certainly not THE guy for us if it involves a first or second round pick. If we get him for a late pick or in free agency as a placeholder for a year or two while we look for a franchise rookie, it might work. All in all I think we had better pick the best qb available in round two or three. There are too many excellent Offensive Line and Linebacker blue chips available for us not to get one of them in the first round.
  16. He whiffed on a bunch of good qb choices. He whiffed on good linebacker choices. He whiffed on good offensive tackle choices. So far it looks like he whiffed on his most recent cornerback choice (in fairness that is too early to tell. I remember a jet fan going off on how dumb it was to draft Darrel Reavis number one toward the end of his rookie season.) He improved the team or he didn't. The win loss record tells the whole story.
  17. tiyler wilson is a much better choice, and he may be available for us.
  18. I'll tell you if he was a good hire after next year when I see what he can do. Gailey frankly was a bad hire from day one and I said so, and he proved it year in and year out until he was fired. If this guy is going to hold to tough stances and high expectations, and he pushes the run game as he should, I think he will be just fine. I don't know ...the coach sounds good, and frankly I think the team we have is a lot more talented than the record they produced. This guy could be the best of the new hires based on his record come this time next year.
  19. He looks pretty darn good. We might want to replace some of our quitters with hitters.
  20. I'd be surprised if he lasts til the fourth, but if he's there I'd sure take a chance on him.
  21. I think there are any number of "blue chip" players at positions of need such as qb and linebacker, so I would think we'd be wise to take the best one available at 8. Now on the other hand there are some remarkable and very high quality offensive linemen in the draft and I could see us grabbing an excellent left tackle or center in the draft, including the center/gaurd/tackle who plays for Alabama if he is a senior. That boy can do everything a lineman is supposed to do.
  22. Chan was less than impressive from the get go. I couldn't believe they hired him over people who actually were available and willing (Fewell being one of them). Marrone has a good track record so far and he seems to be moving pretty quickly to get his house in order. I'm ready to give him a chance to get this team going. Actually I'm not all that despairing about the talent on the team we have at the moment, and with a tweak here and there (quarterback, linebacker) we might be in a playoff run this coming year.
  23. He'll be one of the top three picked, so if we are going to get him it would take a first rounder I would think.
  24. Best EVER? Deion Sanders and Brian Urlacher I thought of Jim Brown, but we have good running backs and need a cb, second receiver and kick returner and a great middle linebacker most of all.
