  1. Flutie and Tebow have taken teams to the playoffs. I'm not seeing much out there that can make that claim. Tebow probably should be in the mix of mediocre to bad quarterbacks available to us...sad...but that's the way it is.
  2. Palmerf? Can't we re-sign Fitzpatrick? Isn't Tebow available?
  3. It is about best player available in a position of need. There is a good chance that there will be a blue chip gaurd available at 8. I agree that given the choice of a blue chip qb being there at 8 and given that we need such a guy...we would go that route. There is no blue chip qb in this draft. Gino Smith might be a stretch if he's available and I wouldn't see a problem with that. My preference would be one of the blue chip linebackers or offensive tackles that might be available...but I'd be open to either of the gaurds depending on what's there at 8.
  4. Its not a north south problem...its an inability to recognize talent problem.
  5. Doesn't make sense "at all"? I beg to differ. Chance and Cooper are blue chip prospects. Levitre is gone. There are two Hall of Famer gaurds on your list and gaurd is not a sexy position for hall of fame claim. The two bills gaurds drafted in the first round both were starters for more than a decade. We probably won't pick either because of incompetence in the gm slot. Actually we probably won't pick either because it actually does make sense and we have not made any sense in drafting for some time.
  6. Andy Levitre? Overpaid and underproductive...???? What are these guys smoking? If the Bills cut every overpaid and underproductive player they would have five or six players on the team. Unfortunately Levitre was one of the few who were productive.
  7. He didn't set Denver back.. Went to the playoffs (the thing at the end of season that we used to go to in another century). and beat Pittsburgh in a playoff game. I could see us drafting to strengthen the offensive line run wise and using Tebow, Jackson Spiller and tight ends with Stevie as the deep threat. Just run teams ragged to open up the pass game. Tebow would be worth a shot. PRIDE????? PRIDE?????? Look...we suck. In the world of suck we are in suck alley under the suck garbage. Watching the nfl channel every time I see them praising a running back or a qb they show him playing against the Buffalo Bills. We haven't shown anything to be proud about this century. When we have a good player we trade him for a fourth round draft choice (Marshawn Lynch.....if you forgot him look at the pro bowl....or the playoffs) and now Levitre. Nah...pride is not a commodity we have...false pride maybe....
  8. To do somegthing this year? I don't see a franchise qb in the draft but we ought to take the best one we can in round 2. Alex Smith is gone, so we are going to have to take a flyer on who is available at qb in free agency. We should get the best offensive lineman or linebacker available with the first pick. Just too many holes to expect anything to happen with the present administration.
  9. Boy...this thread just shows us how bad we actually were over the years. pathetic. I guess Fitz was the best of the three...but that isn't saying much.
  10. Actrually we are the 8th worst team in the nfl based on win/lost record. We are probably lower than that if you consider the entire last decade. It is NOT something to be proud of. I love my Buffalo Bills, but they are year in and year out a pretty poor football team since the superbowl days. We have aspired to a year or two of mediocrity but its hard to find more than a couple of teams with overall performance as lackluster as the Bills.
  11. My pet peeve=guys who blame dogs for their farts! wait a minute...I do that....
  12. New England has a history of taking Bills rejects and making them very serviceable players. Why not Nelson?
  13. Beats me how he has a job. Most places have some accountability standard and one would think won-loss might be a good start. Nix has not improved the team at all in the time he has been here.
  14. Wouldn't we have had to actually have been in a "building" mode to qualify for the term "rebuilding" mode? The last decade has been a "frittering and stumbling" mode.
  15. I think you are right, if we go with the best player available. There are two very exceptional left tackle prospects and Warmack who are possible all pro contenders out of the box. Based only on immediate need I think we might get the very best linebacker available. You are also right about Millner. All in all we afre going to have some outstanding players to choose from at 8. All of this leads me to believe we are not going to do a reach for a quarterback in round one but rather grab one with our second pick.
  16. There seem to be a number of very strong defensive end candidates in this draft. I didn't pay much attention as I figured we were set. I suppose the Bills are giving de's a much more serious look about now.
  17. I think I would have a conversation with the applicant and be open with her about the plusses and minuses of the job and advise her that you would be uncomfortable recommending her for this particular position. You gave a reference for another job where you felt she was qualified, and this is one where you have reservations. That gives her a chance to 1) convince you that she is qualified or 2.) recognize she has to change and take action. If you go and tell the boss your opinion without advising her she will find out and you'll be seen as a guy who gives a good written recommendation then screws the applicant behind her back. You don't want to be doing that!
  18. Interesting draft but I see us getting a linebacker (or maybe even a defensive end, with Kelsay retiring) in the first. Picking eighth there is an outside chance of great OT or CB sneaking through to us. I just don't see Barkely as our guy for the long haul, and not as number 8 material. There will be a qb almost as good available in round 2. The other picks look very good. I would take a chance on the honey badger in round 4 if he makes it that far.
  19. I was anticipating a bidding war and KC having to give up a first round choice. The deal sounds pretty good to me. Reid knows that the business is a show me now business (except in Buffalo) and probably figured the quickest turnaround was to get a game ready qb who could manage the team from day one and bring in a winning record in year one. I think he bargained well. We'll see what Smith has left in the tank next year.
  20. I'd pass for at least one other reason. I see us drafting a linebacker at 8 and having at least two or three good solid 2d round qbs to choose from at two. I don't think anyone thinks he will be around at three.
  21. We'll draft the linebacker we need in round one and probably a qb in round 2. I see a cb in round 3. We'll get our WR in Free agency. We;ll still have holes but that isn't an excuse. Many many other teams started out with holes and turned it around quickly. I'm not thinking superbowl but I think it should be made clear to the new coach that it is up to him to get us into competition for the division title in year one and make the playoffs in year 2. The problem with this team is they don't set high expectations from the get go, but stumble around for three or four years and fire the coach.
  22. Teo isn't as good as thought in the early pages (I remember saying he would succeed in a 3-4 but not a 4-3 and getting a lot of ribbing about it). Since the thread started he had his weaknesses demonstrated in the Alabama game and now in the combine the speed issue arises again. That being said he is a good draft choice, but probably not a top 15 choice and may slip into the second round. That's about right, barring a game changing show at his pro day (unlikely as that might be).
  23. If you are selling and you have ten anxious buyers and no real alternatives you should be able to make one hell of a deal.
  24. I see us pickikng a qb in round 2, but I suspect it won't be Bray. I've watched him here in Tennessee and he reminds me of a hockey player a buddy coach of mine at Brockport commented on...."million dollar legs....25 cent brains."
