  1. hmmmm...and who was it saying we shouldn't draft anyone under 300 lbs? I think you are right that it always STARTS in the trenches. i suspect the administration is now aware of this. We did get some terrific players this year, but we've got a ways to go. THIS IS A REBUILDING year. We'll see if JP is the guy (he's not looking all that good right now, but may improve throughout the year, and if not I'll make ONE exception to my 300 lb minimum. The trick is to hold our nose and get through this season.
  2. Wow...they actually TORTURE people? Glad we're above all that!
  3. nah...the season is a write off, so its time to develop the guys we can, give Losman about two or three more games to show what he has...and then run Nall the mop-up games and get ready for the draft. DJ and ML have at least one more year to turn this around.
  4. Boy I wish it were JP. Fact is JP didn't play well at all, but neither did the offensive line, special teams or the whole defense. I said early on that 3-4 would be good. Well...we didn't do it, and we should be concerned. We should also be concerned that we are not playing better now than we did at beginning of the season. Things look bad right now, and I think DJ and ML had better take a long hard look at things to right the ship. As to the players? I think the big money guys who THINK anyone is going to line up to get them better think again and start playing like big money guys (Nate, TKO, etc...listen up!).
  5. 5.54 something...but that was really an exception. Most of mine didn't get much over 1 second.
  6. Congrats..gotta be a daddy's greatest day. I'll probably cry when mine gets married. But then...I imagine somebody else will be on the hook for her shopping!
  7. I thought Henry was a very good back and we had other more pressing needs when we drafted McGahee. McGahee is a good running back. Henry is a good running back. I figure given Henry's production and selection to the Pro Bowl, and his making a difference in Tennessee (look at his role in most successful drives in Tennessee) he gets the edge so far. NcGahee may prove to be better than Henry in the long run. But then again, Losman may prove to be better than Jim Kelly in the long run. But I kinda f'ing doubt it. Travis Henry's webpage
  8. Exactly. We pretty much knew that this year was a write off. We've had a pretty good draft and we've shown (except for the Chicago game) that we can play with the big boys and certainly within the division. We've got a ways to go. I honestly think we're not only better than last year, we're doing it with younger players stepping up and good drafting...and that sounds like a recipe for success.
  9. Seriously, though you might want to re-consider the sig line about Barbara Bush. Lots of brain damaged kids resent being lumped in with GWB. Geezz...if Barbara only held him under water a few more minutes......
  10. Hmmmm...I've got to admit if I were to line up against a guy they called booger, I'd be a little nervous and distracted.
  11. "Ho Hum..." Great job Brownie...Plus ca change....
  12. The same direction we should have gone this year (although going in a very different direction DJ and ML did get some terrific players...albeit at positions other than the ones we most needed help in.) OFFENSIVE LINEMEN- Center, Gaurd, Tackle Defensive Tackle... Forget anything else. Fix what's broke.
  13. I fault Marv I guess in not addressing the oline in free agency in any real sense. Steve Hutchinson was available and we should have made a major move for him. My Ngata rants were to address the DT situation as we need folks who can do a lot and stop the run. Whitner may prove to be a real stud pick but we did have Vincent. Jauron? I was less than impressed but I think he'll be okay. Despite Sunday, I'm not all that displeased with the way the team is going, and expect them to improve. I'm still pulling for 3-4 at the bye and an 8-8 season. I think ML and Jauron have two to three years to get to the playoffs.
  14. Bledsoe finished 9--7 or something like that last year. Now that is not suck...or certainly not anything the buffalo bills of the last five years might think of as suck. As to Losman, I can only go by what I see of Losman, and I'm not getting to see much of him because of the crappy pass blocking. He may be a bust, but we'll never know until we get some kind of pass blocking. Joe Montana or Johnny Unitas would be a bust with this line.
  15. Quarterback is not the problem. You've identified the major problem. Offensive line, particularly in pass-blocking. We could use a little more beef at defensive tackle as well. We'll address that next year. Til then, let's just muddle through.
  16. No way out of this. In a game of sub-stellar performances, MG was the most substandard. He has perfected what we used to call the Oh shyt, LOOKOUT! block. (oh shyt, I missed him...LOOK OUT!) We gotta get some nasty ol offensive linemen next year, or we'll be looking for a QB because Losman will be crippled if the protection stays the way its going.
  17. First, what the f did you expect? We are a rebuilding team. We will get blown out in some games, play close in others, and maybe get a win or two against teams we shouldn't beat. That was what we knew going in. Second...Our lines need work. I thought we'd have addressed that in free agency and the draft, but apparently we haven't (certainly haven't in the offensive line.) Blaming Losman is crazy given the blocking he had. He has his moments, good and bad, but the moments that are his are rare given the pass blocking. Third...You beat the cover 2 (particularly OUR cover 2) by running between the tackles. If any team in the NFL did not know that yet...they certainly know it now. I suspect we are going to have to make some fancy moves with personnel and particularly linebacking to address this as a stop gap til next season. I still think we are improving..but yesterday was painful.
  18. I'm on a committee looking at statewide preparations for a pandemic flu. I'm working with a lot of expert infectious disease physicians and health care practicitioners. The consensus of ALL of them as to what we could do to best protect ourselves? WASH OUR HANDS like doctors do. They say you should be able to sing happy birthday while washing. So...you are probably more right now than ever to be concerned about your "buddy".
  19. Cover two is always beaten by a run game at the middle of the defensive line. That's always been the case. Jauron has to stop the run or go to some other defensive scheme. He'll just have to find tackles who are up to the job. Rome wasn't built in a day. He could have passed on Whitner and taken Ngata...but Whitner is proving to be the find of the draft so I'm not going to criticize him for that...We may have to wait until next year for our major defensive (and OFFENSIVE!) line upgrades.
  20. Wow...looking up my picture? That's disconcerting when a republican does that. I suppose I'll be getting dirty IM's now? Nice to see you guys at least doing that to adults. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. I looked up your prison mug shot. No wonder you were so popular in prison! eryn's prison mug shot.
  21. Its pretty clear Vincent will play somewhere else immediately, and I am pretty sure the Bills admin were aware of that when they released him. I don't think they are on the hook if Vincent signs a contract to play somewhere else..are they? If that's the case it sounds like everyone wins in the deal. Vincent gets to start, whatever team gets him will certainly fill a need, and we get relieved of a highly paid guy who is a backup. On the other hand, we had better hope for no injuries to safeties the rest of the season!!!
  22. I suspect we'll be beating them...but on the ground. Still it would be nice to see JP have a great passing game. I'm really looking forward to more of those bombs. Guy has a rocket for an arm and I'm waiting for Evans, Price, Reed, Parrish and JP to get seriously into synch. Now THAT will be an impressive passing display.
