  1. I can't buy a big physical receiver as a number one need, although I'd say a very high quality tight end is probably near the top of the list. If this is what you mean by a big physical receiver, I'd tend to agree it is important. However our number one -A needs are more along the offensive line, defensive tackle areas.
  2. Don't worry about it. Sure his kids will have nothing under the tree for christmas, his drinking problem will most likely become more and more drastic, he'll begin whacking the wife around, go on welfare and probably blow his brains out on Christmas eve...but it sure isn't your fault.
  3. WOW...watching game films and planning a defense accordingly. Why didn't we do that before? That's a terrific idea, but I'm upset that TKO would mention it...pretty soon everyone will be doing that!!!
  4. I'm really enjoying it. I like the parts between scenes where different people try to sell you sh--. I'm beginning to work on a concept that the island isn't in south seas at all but turns out to be....get this!....HAWAII!!!!
  5. Well...guess it is up to the Bills to wipe that silly grin off his face...if they can. I think in the right frame of mind and with the right game plan we could give them one hell of a game and an upset is not impossible. Look at Miami v. Chicago (oh my god, did I just give props to the Dolphins?)
  6. Maybe they are waiting until we are (don't laugh..I mean mathematically) out of the playoff picture before they put him in?
  7. Wouldn't bother me. Guy drinking before the job was done is an a-hole. I think the previous poster was probably right that the guy was on thin ice before your reported him. Don't worry about it. You saved the next production guy the problem of the a-hole shirking work.
  8. Two tight ends on most plays, liberal use of a two back scheme with a blocker behind. Evans and Parrish used for the occassional deep throws. Runs (A-train better than Mcgahee for this type of game.)Screens and short passes to tight ends and backs are the meat and potatos. JP earns his paycheck with occassional bombs to Evans and Parrish, but other than that plays a small role in the game.
  9. 20th is about right. I am hopeful that we will finish the season between 14th and 17th. Not necessarily on the Z poll, but just in general. I'd like to be near the middle of the pack at the end and move up from there next year.
  10. Listen...this is football. The object (at least last time I looked) is to win games or come as close to winning as you can. Given our pass protection a requirement that JP throw 35 passes a game (not counting the 8 to 10 sacks per game you would be consigning to him.) wouldresult in a bag of interceptions, rushed passes and prove absolutely nothing.
  11. e could also point out that just after he released the ball JP took one hell of a hit. Geez...cut the kid a break why dontcha! A 43 yard touchdown pass is a 43 year touchdown pass. A win is a !@#$ing win.
  12. Right...I only see this election as the preliminary skirmish. The 2008 elections are what count.
  13. Looks like a good year for Dems. Now watch the Republicans whine that we "don't want to win" the war. Hell..as if they are anywhere near "winning" the war. The war is just going to get worse and worse until we get rid of the clowns (Bush, Cheney and Rummy) who put us there. How on earth anyone can think that the minds that got us into this cluster!@#$ are the minds that will get us out of it (let alone "win" whatever the hell that is) is beyond me. Happy to see all the dem wins in the house and senate. Feel bad about Harold Ford Jr., perhaps the most interesting candidate running, but its back to the drawing board and get ready for 2008.
  14. What is the "weak spot" in Indianapolis? Defense against the run. soooooo.....run. What is the strength of Indianapolis? Manning and Harrison...sooooo....run and keep him off the field. No difference between Rob Johnson and Peyton Manning if he's sitting on the sideline. What do you do to keep him on the sideline? Run, screen passes and use the tight ends. We may not be able to beat them but with the appropriate game plan we should keep it close. If JP gets sacked six times...its DJ and the offensive co-ordinator who should be replaced.
  15. hell...the Republicans had an ad here that took on Harold Ford Jr. for being at a playboy superbowl party where there were WHITE WOMEN!!! Guess they thought we'd lynch him or something.
  16. Our O-line is better at run blocking than they are at pass blocking, but then they are sooo bad at pass-blocking. Now the rational thing to do would be to run more from beginning to end of the game. Also to adjust the receivers and backfield to best take advantage of the run game and to supplement the pass protection. Sometimes we serve ourselves best by not overlooking the obvious (hint DJ...two tight ends and use of a blocking back!)
  17. Thank God for early voting. Get to avoid the lines. Now if the recorded phone calls would just stop. Actually got one last night from PAT BOONE!! pulling for Corker. Geez Pat Boone in Tennessee...Jerry Lee Lewis is probably spinning in his grave...oh wait a minute..Jerry isn't dead yet...well...Elvis anyway..
  18. This from the folks that brought you pearl harbor.
  19. Seriously, it would probably be wise to adjust the offense to maximize our strengths and minimize our weaknesses. That woule mean, in my opinion, go the two tight end route and often keeping a blocking back in. The running game is paramount, no question, but JP plays a huge role with passes to the tight end and to the running back with occassional (very occassional-once or twice a game) forays downfield to Evans. The net result is a low passing yardage for JP not because of JP but because of our adjustments to stop the pass rush. result? We get to keep the ball a lot longer with time killing drives, the "cover 2" folks we see have to cheat to stop the run...and the occassional bomb can be a game-breaker. Parcells has made a career out of that strategy.
  20. He hasn't proved himself as a high caliber quarterback, but he is not in much of a position to be able. He took one hell of a hit on the touchdown pass to Evans and he is better than last year. I say give him the season and if he doesn't have it at that point ...cut him. I'm not making any judgements until I see a hell of a lot more of him.
  21. A win is a win, and certainly warrants some satisfaction. On the other hand this was a weak win against a weak team and the offense really did not put on much of a show. The defense played better, but allowed LOTS of completions. Now, if we should defeat INDY..this board will light up like the fourth of July!!!
  22. I agree one hundred percent. A win against the Colts would be a major upset, but it sure would throw water on us nay-sayers and be a great turn around point for what was becoming a rather disappointing season. Furthermore the Dolphins, much as I hate the very ground that they walk on, showed us the way this Sunday. Go Bills...
  23. Wait a minute...are we all that civilized to begin with?
  24. Something to consider. The cover 2 is the defense du jour and everyone has seen it, accounted for it, and drafted to beat it. we also have a passel of good linebackers. Might be a very nice arrow to have in the quiver.
