Self-help experts commit suicide.
tennesseeboy replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm still convinced "MacArthur Park" is the worst song ever. WTF with the cake in the rain? -
Actually the Russians might have prevailed, but certainly Western Europe would probably have ended up Communist, as well as significant countries such as Turkey and Greece. Further I don't think the Russians could have prevailed without very significant American economic and arms contributions. But as to D-Day, with our British and Canadian allies and the battle for Europe...we were a second front...DC Tom is right.

Interesting comment by Brian Moorman about the past Bills
tennesseeboy replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess you must be right. 8-9 would make the bills ecstatic.....not happy. -
Exactly...I spent a good part of a year in Ukraine during their rembrance of the "great patriotic war" Remember the invasion took place in June of 1944 and the European war ended in April of 1945. The Russians carried most of the water (and did most of the dying) in this process.

NFL Coaches Power Rankings
tennesseeboy replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Power ranking 1962- at the top---Sonny Liston at the bottom-- Cassius Clay. -
I don't know how the Lamonica trade unfolded...but it was clearly the worst trade in the history of the Bills. I had forgotten that we gave up Lamonica, Bass AND draft picks for Flores and Powell, neither of whom did anything for Buffalo. Didn't Kemp break his leg and miss the season the year after the trade?

Alex Carrington - Secret superstar
tennesseeboy replied to Fixxxer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I likke the guy. Hope he sees a lot more playing time this year. I'm hoping Williams and Dareus rebound from a less than stellar year last year and the Kyle Williams has full recovery. I loved the Bills defensive line when they had day, sestak, dunaway, mcdole and three or four other d-lineman who would have started almost anywhere else. You really need six or seven guys who can start to have a powerful defensive line. The same goes for the offensive line. The problem we have is we don't even have a basic starting lineup on either line that is going to take us to the playoffs. You start building the great teams from the trenches. -
NFL Coaches Power Rankings
tennesseeboy replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He hasn't coached a game yet, so it would make sense he would start near the bottom. Doesn't mean much. I would consider him successful if he brings this team to an 8 win season, and I'll bet most power ranking would rank him in the top 15 if he did that. You don't get a big leg up on the rankings until you show something warranting it. Don't worry, the guy has to get a chance to bring his team onto the field and show what he's got. -
Deacon Jones versus Bruce Smith
tennesseeboy replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
two of the greatest defensive players ever. I couldn't even venture a guess as which was better. One consideration is that Jones was part of an all time defensive unit, the Fearsome Foursome" which may have helped and just might give Bruce and edge...but that's kind of pushing it. Two great players. -
Interesting comment by Brian Moorman about the past Bills
tennesseeboy replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look..in the final analysis Moorman was a very good punter...and perhaps one whose best years are behind him. He left and voiced essentially that the Bills were an underachieving team without a desire or plan to become an elite team. This is pretty much true, evidenced by lousy play, poor leadership, bad trades, bizarre draft strategies, and our win/loss records. I'm not surprised by his statements. -
I LIKE IT! I always thought a lot of AFL players were going to be forgotten, and so many of these guys were just outstanding players. Probably not hall of fame, but the hall of very good is an intriguing idea. Hooray for the researchers association. I think we had a regular poster at one time who was involved with this group...but I forget who it was.

Mario Williams: no love for
tennesseeboy replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The ring thing depends on state law and I suspect that both parties are aware the law in their jurisdiction. The texts, at least as they relate to the ring are a complicating factor -
What coach does Marrone remind you of?
tennesseeboy replied to Over 29 years of fanhood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Knute Rockne. Or maybe Vince Lombardi. Any guy who can have the oroy and dory of the year and handle the voluntary workouts like he did is clearly a hof coach. Imagine where he might be if he wins an ac tual nfl game! -
Mario Williams: no love for
tennesseeboy replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Given his texting and litigation activity, that he is discussing suicide, taking unprescribed medications, and playing a season with his head not in the game, I suspect that one might consider the possibility. -
Mario Williams: no love for
tennesseeboy replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm more worried abougt whether Mario is becoming some kind of head case and whether that will effect his play on the field. He was injured and sucked last year...let's hope for better this year. -
Hitler tea pot...I'll hve to put it next to my Pol Pot in my Stalinen closet.

I would have to go with Kansas City. They got a playoff caliber coach and a playoff caliber qb veteran, have solidified a number of positions, and in my opinion were never quite as bad as their record indicated...personnel wise at least. I go Buffalo as a distant second with a lot of very hopeful expectations for Marrone and Manuel. I don't see Buffalo going to first but I could see us winning seven or eight games, and would be very pleased with that.

ESPN article ranks Marv Levy # 17
tennesseeboy replied to WIDE LEFT's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marv was the best coach the bills have ever had, and 17 sounds about right. He had tons of talent provided by Pollian, and he was outcoached badly in four superbowls...so I can't see him ranking much higher.
