  1. Actually he didn't go to college and was cut by Cleveland Browns. Lost the job to jim Brown. He played linebacker and could easily have played offensive line as well as positions mentioned. In Canada I believe he was a punter as well... Without ANY doubt the best fullback we ever had.
  2. he really did throw Losman under the bus. It would be very hard to bring him back...unless Losman is a friggin saint who doesn't hold any grudges...
  3. If okoye and branch are gone... I'm beginning to think we trade down for Meacham at WR, go Justin Harrel in the second, Jonathan Wade the cornerback at third and some of the interesting linebackers (Durant and DeOssie) in the later rounds. Harrel is good and Tennessee does produce great defensive linemen..reggie white...john henderson...albert haynesworth..) risk is his injury suffered this year..but he may fill the bill....I like Meachem in the lower first round but Ginn, Kahlil or a number of others might be available there. We are in a position to fill lots of needs on draft day no matter how it turns out.
  4. I'm not afraid of our trading him. I suspect if we think he can play and is recovered we'll keep him. However, if the assessment he isn't going to come all the way back...I think we might actually cut him on down line. Watch how many linebackers we draft.
  5. someone just sent me this..not irish though.. Official Announcement: The government today announced that it is changing its emblem from an Eagle to a CONDOM because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed. Damn, it just doesn't get more accurate than that!
  6. sorry for your loss...guess they kind of earn that "man's best friend" title, don't they?
  7. 1. Okoye, Willis, or Branch (whichever one slips down to us...one will) 2. Pittman or Irons (I like Bush, but would be surpised if he gets to us in the second...if he does I'd go for him. 3. Jonathan Wade, CB from Tennessee 4. Durant the OLB from Hampton (I don't think he is going to last to 6) 5. DeOssie (the big linebacker from Brown) All that changed at the combine. In order to prepare for such a scrutinized event, the Brown product had been working out with a personal trainer since December, adding bulk to his already impressive frame. The extra conditioning certainly paid off. DeOssie put up 26 reps on the 225-pound bench press, just seven fewer than the best linebacker total. In fact, top linebacker prospects Lawrence Timmons (Florida State) and Patrick Willis (Mississippi) lifted only 25 and 22 respectively. However, arguably his most impressive feat came in the most scrutinized talked-about drill, the 40-yard dash. Clocking in at 4.58, DeOssie was the eighth fastest linebacker in Indianapolis, trailing only New Mexico’s Quincy Black at 4.42. In addition to his straight-ahead speed, he showed great explosion in changing directions, recording the fourth best time in the three-cone drill. His 10’2” broad jump was also good for fifth in his group. His impressive performance at the combine places him among the top middle linebackers eligible for the upcoming draft, and accordingly, his draft stock has skyrocketed to the middle rounds
  8. I think he is Washington's number one pick. I'm hoping Branch or Willis might slip down to us. Another possible approach would be to trade up to get Okoye or Branch, or possibly even Peterson.
  9. #2 would be an interesting trade. It would have to be Johnson or conceivably Peterson he'd be interested in. I could see moving up to #4 or #5 to get Okoye before Washington. Interesting machinations going on.
  10. As of this moment our two biggest problems are at D-line and POSSIBLY at linebacker. I suspect the powers that be are very happy with Crowell in the middle, but it seems we would at least need an outside backer. Running back has suddenly become a big area of concern as well. Now at 12 there are four worthy 12 picks in the category for us to draft...Okoye, Branch, Willis and (long shot) Adrian Peterson. Any one of the four is good. Brown, Poszluzny, maybe Lynch, and many other valuable players might be helpful to us, but only with a trade down. I like Brown, but I really think we have to address those four positions first...def. tackle, linebacker, running back and maybe cornerback on the first day. I think the really good offensive linemen will be gone after that.
  11. I'm going on my fourth decade in the parenting game and in the teaching game (albeit with folks a little older than the subject) and am just starting the grandpa game and my observation is that some of the people who were wonderful parents had terrible kids, some of the terrible parents had wonderful kids and vice versa. I gotta say you take the little baby god gives you..do the best you can...and cross your fingers. I thank god every day my kids turned out as they did (given that they caused a gray hair a time or two) but I'm not taking credit for the good or blame for the bad.
  12. My guess is we don't have a clue why the kid did what he did and are projecting? Funny what we all read into newspaper articles.
  13. If peterson slips from Cleveland he is prime meat all the way down. It would be very hard to turn him down for any of the teams, so I think a more likely scenario is that a team comes off of Okoye, Willis or Branch to take him and we get the trickle down benefit of one of the three. If I'm wrong and Peterson is available? I'm assuming Okoye and Branch would have to have been taken...and I'd go with Peterson...too good to pass up and it is a position of need. If Okoye is available..we've got a lot of serious discussing and a VERY hard decision to make.
  14. oh...jim braxton was the best fullback? I guess leroy kelly was the best running back the browns ever had? COOKIE GILCHRIST is one of the best running backs of all time!!!! Best running back combination I remember was Cookie and Wray Carlton. In addition Cookie could block like an offensive lineman. When Carlton and Gilchrist were in the backfield Sports Illustrated referred to Jack Kemp as "the most pass protected quarterback in the history of the game." Braxton?....hush your mouth, child. If we are looking for a fullback I'd go with Corey Anderson out of Tennessee or if Leonard of Rutgers falls into the third round I'd go with him. Either would be a nice addition but we have other needs to address first.
  15. I don't LIKE your scenario...but it makes a lot of sense. I think the real cream of the crop from our point of view is the Okoye, Branch Willis possibility and once we lose that we are in ttrouble. Personally I would trade down and get Lynch, Poluszny, or some other lower level first and try to end up with another third rounder. I couldn't take great issue if we drafted Lynch at twelve though. Nice draft thinking...
  16. A billion here, A billion there...pretty soon you're talking pretty big numbers!
  17. I know...I'm looking forward to seeing it. I've got to find an excuse to sneak away some afternoon as I doubt my girlfriend will be big on seeing it.
  18. needless to say...lots of license taken in the film. http://www.thestar.com/article/190493
  19. Actually in a few hours I'll be driving to Clemson to see us play them in the NIT. We have played them pretty close in the past, but we're an 8 seed and they are a one seed. We've given Wake Forest and Cincinnatti major scares in the NCAA tournaments in past years. Let's do some damage!
  20. I'm in North Dakota and I'm an 18 year old girl.
  21. I thought we'd make a run at him. However given that we showed NO interest, I'd have to say ML and DJ have a ton of confidence in the existing CB's. I'm getting the same feeling about the linebackers, in that they have total confidence in Crowell taking over the MLB position. I have to consider that the coaching staff sees a lot more of the corners and backers and assesses their potential and readiness a lot more than any of us. There absolute interest in strengthening the O-line and the benjamins they put into upgrading it indicates that where they see a problem they fix it. May be they like what they got.
  22. I heard some talking pundits on Sirius talking about Moulds and, while they did NOT mention Buffalo, I began to think about the possibility of him coming back as Number 2. I thought it would work out fine but figured with his ego he wouldn't be worth looking at. I'd take a long hard look at his last year in Houston and assess whether he still has it before I would sign him. However, assuming he's still got it and is actually interested in a number two spot...VERY interesting possibility.
  23. Hope springs eternal. I like Niagara and I like underdogs, so I'll be rooting for them and hoping for a major upset. Logic has nothing to do with it!!! Go Eagles.
  24. That Peterson played for Georgia Southern I believe. My University played him and he was a real force to be reckoned with. Actually he was kind of a force you couldn't reckon with. I'd love to see him in a Bills uniform.
