  1. How many times did he kill a girl while driving drunk?
  2. The French Connection...ah...a thing of beauty and a joy forever...thanks for reminding me.
  3. I think the decision to trade down will be made during the draft when we see what is going to fall to us. Chances are, at 12, there will be a big surprise and we may be very happy going with the choice. Peterson, Willis or Okoye come to mind and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them is there. If not...trading down might make sense. Lots of good linebackers and the second rank of running backs (Lynch, Pittman, Irons) should be available lower in the first round. I don't see an ideal "12" on the board at the moment (one who will NOT be a top ten pick but fits nicely as a 12). but its still early. For draft INTEREST purposes, 12 is almost an ideal pick. One through five is kind of a no brainer...five through ten is the cream of the crop. Ten to fifteen calls for real imagination. And we have two of the best doing the picking, so get the popcorn, fasten your seatbelts and enjoy the show.
  4. I agree. If we were actually interested in dealing with this problem we'd be putting the folks who hire the illegal aliens in jail and/or imposing crippling fines. Easily fixed problem if anyone had the will to do it. Geraldo is absolutely right. The case is about a drunk driver, not about illegal aliens.
  5. Well...actually they weren't "changing" a defensive scheme but just putting one in. I remember when Gregg Williams came in and "changed" a defensive scheme with a 3-4 that had been fairly successful. Every player in the NFL is "aging" unless someone has figured out a way to stop that. What I said was they would have gone to the playoffs. I'm not sold that a "scheme" in the abstract means much and the Cover-2 is the flavor of the month and its getting late in the month. Talenet and execution wins football games...not "schemes"
  6. I'm reminded how John Rauch drafted OJ Simpson and insisted on playing him at flankerback because that fitted his "system". If we had taken Ngata (or kept Williams or Washington) and played standard defense or modified to accomodate for talent, and kept Vincent we' have had a very good pass rush off the ends and stopped the run up the middle. Our linebackers last year couldn't fit the bill with Cover 2 either (hence no playoffs). If we drafted Ngata and played within our existing talent envelope-10 and 8 and the playoffs. Water under the dam..and now I guess we have LB's who can play cover 2 and improved our DT position. Not as much as having Okoye would offer. If asked now...which would be better existing defense as of today with Willis or existing defense with Okoye...I'd go with the defense with Okoye. Ellison, Crowell and Wire as opposed to Ellison, Willis and Crowell at the backers.
  7. Actually she not only carries the weight pretty well, she seems to have mastered the art of dressing well to minimize it. All said and done though I wish her lots of success in the weight loss...she will feel a lot better...and more important from MY point of view..she will look even better!
  8. Do you really think Okoye can't rush the passer well enough to play Cover-2? Just because a guy is over 300 does not mean he can't play DT in a cover 2 scheme. I think we'd better get over the concept that the definition of a cover-2 DT is a guy who can rush the passer but not stop the run.
  9. http://www.buffalonews.com/194/story/46245.html I'm inspired and no longer am Willis' biggest fan. Darn it my hero-worshipping and jock sniffing days of Willis as the next OJ/Jim Brown/Gale Sayers/ Cookie Gilchrist/Napoleon/JC/Moses are OVER. I know he had four Hall of Fame seasons with us and we would not have all of those superbowl trophies withouth him...that no one will ever break his all time yards per game/yards per season records. Darn it...when he says bad things about my hometown...I just don't care that he was the greatest football player ever to put on a pair of spikes...I don't like him any more either!!!!
  10. I'm grumpy....how do doc, dopey and bashful feel?
  11. Pittman, Irons and a few others are not too far from the Peterson Lynch quality. Hence it wouldn't bother me if we got our RB in the second or EVEN third round. I think this class of running backs is grossly under-rated.
  12. Frankly Okoye is one of the most exciting defensive line prospects I have seen. If he is there at 12, I say take him. Mark my words...he will be an impact player along the lines of Warren Sapp, Bruce Smith and Julius Peppers. I wanted Haloti Ngata last year (and believe that and to this day believe we would have gone to the playoffs with him (although Donte Whitner and this draft class have been damn good). Unfortunately, since the Senior Bowl, it looks like he has moved from a late first, early second pick to a top ten pick. I'll go so far as to say that EVEN if Willis and Lynch are available ...go Okoye. If, however, Peterson slips down and we don't have a running back...I see need over talent balancing that equation and I'd go with Peterson.
  13. very nice job, and pretty much the way it might go. I'm sure there will be a couple of surprises from 6 through our pick...and Peterson would be a great catch if he's the one who slips down to us. I was thinking Okoye might be the one, and I think others are hoping Willis is the one. Given our needs though...AP would be a great choice.

  15. I disagree strongly, which is why I always have three or four players on the board. We have three or four positions needing help now. That is LB, WR, RB, CB. There are eight to twelve "blue chippers" on the board. WR Johnson, QB Russell, RB Peterson.LB Willis, DT Okoye and Branch. Tackle Joe Thomas and CB LaRon Landry. Johnson, Russell, and Thomas and PROBABLY Peterson will not last. However some of the others will slip down to us. I know how we feel about drafting CB's and the feeling that maybe this free agency aquisition firms up our defensive line...but I gotta say if any of the blue chippers fall to us in positions of need...go for him. Okoye is a franchise player who we can't let go. If he's not the one I'd have to go with Landry as the best at the spot, and I'm not sure about Willis being able to make it at the next level. If NO blue chippers are available in a position of need...trade down and go for the best player available at the spot in one of the areas of need. Meachem at WR, Lynch at RB, maybe even Wade of Tennessee depending on how low down in the first round we end up.
  16. 1. Okoye, Willis, Peterson or Lynch in that order) If NONE of them are available, trade down and take Poz LB or Beason LB or IronsRB 2. Jonathan Wade CB of Tennessee 3a. Durant LB of Hampton 3b Battle RB from Houston 4 Zak DeOssie, MLB from Cornell If number one pick turns out to be Willis, skip DeOssie and take Corey Anderson FB Tennessee.
  17. Great songs...I love the titled.."This is the song that goes like this" and the other one "you can't produce on Broadway if you don't have jews." I get the soundtrack on sirius Broadway a lot and the lyrics always crack me up.
  18. We had a lot less leverage. Everyone in the world knew we didn't want WM here, and others had passed up the opportunity to get here. Turner they've put a tag on, and have indicatated they like him as insurance if LT goes down. Part of the question in the negotiation is not so much how much we need him (pretty bad...about a 75 on a 100 scale.) and how willing they are to lose him (not very...abpit 30 on a 100 scale.) Hence the ante is considerably upped. Couple that with the fact that a couple of other teams are interested...if we get him for a switch of firsts and a third-take the deal.
  19. After the Duke thing, I think they behaved very very wisely. At the risk of getting some criticism here I would say that something smells fishy here..(I don't know why that phrase comes to me.)...but there was something going on and I think the frat boys did the right thing from a moral, ethical, and legal and common sense point. Getting rid of the couch might not be a bad idea..or at least fumigating the mother.
  20. We warmed Clemson up for you in the first game of the NIT. Congrats West Virgina!!! It could have been worse...west vagina?
  21. I really like Beason, but he'd be a bit of a stretch at twelve. Nice trade down guy for us though! I think he'll be there in the latter part of the first or early second round..and we should be quite happy with him.
  22. I agree. There are some terrific running backs, and I'm not satisfied that ML and DJ aren't working some kind of trade for one along the line. The draft might best be used to fill needs on the other side of the line at LB, CB and maybe DT (if Okoye is still there at 12)
  23. I think the poster has a point. Chances are of all positions watched in a college career, (except for QB) the most important is running back. By the time an RB is draft eligible he is pretty well analyzed. The combines give a little more information, as do the various bowl and all star games. In this draft we have about six rbs with the potential to start and who could go in the first or early to middle second round. Peterson and Lynch will probably be gone for us (IF NOT...take them!) but I think we'll get one of the Irons, Pittman group in the second and be happy with them. LB, RB, Corner are the areas of most need...Don't everyone get crazy or anything, but I could live with us taking even a great cornerback if he were available at twelve.
  24. Willis is a good pick...I'm hoping we get either Durant of Hampton, Beason from Florida as well, and I could see us going for DeOssie from Brown at the end. Obviously I agree with you linebacker at the moment is a big need. I'd like to see us take a flyer on Jonathan Wade at corner in the second if Beason or Timmons aren't around. We've got a lot of ways to help ourselves and no shortage of pretty darn good choices in the second and third rounds.
  25. love your turner trade...I'm keeping that 1. I gotta go with Okoye at 12 or trade down If I trade down, I go with Timmins or Beason as linebacker...I love Meachem, but I think these are very underrated linebackers...especially Beason. Round 2 I'm looking at Jonathan Wade at cornerback (at least one Tennessee Guy.) Round 3 ustin Durant of Hampton...another linebacker Round 3 Corey Anderson fullback from Tennessee Round 4 Adrian Battle out of Houston Late round pick Zak DeOssie MLB from Brown...I'm not sure he'll last that long.
