  1. Gotta go with an "all of the above" possibility. I think we are a very good team, but the qb is going to into a sophomore jinx. I watched the Cincinnatti game on NFL cable the other day and JP looked pretty darn good, so he might step in if TE has the Soph jinx. The pass rush and run stopping should be much better (Stroud, bigger linebackers)but there are new faces and who knows what might happen. Trent was not the most impressive when the weather got bad. We haven't seen Hardy play yet. All that being said I think this is the most pessimistic view. TE seems like a very mature qb who has worked out put the pounds and is ready to go. Hardy was impressive from what I read here at mini-camp. Our number one guy in the draft should add quality at CB and we have bigger and MORE linebackers. I think we don't miss the playoffs.
  2. What about driving the leased car the 4100 miles (a few months?) and then paying off the lease and turning it in? That is a little delay in getting the car you want and you would have gotten the real value of the lease. I like the idea of sitting down with the dealer of the car you want to buy and seeing what solutions they might have as well. Good luck.
  3. Let's see. The father did not file a complaint, there was a permit. Neighbor called the police. Sounds like a non-starter to me. I think since we don't know the facts and no complaint was filed we might just withold judgment. I'm not looking for Mother Teresa, I'm just looking for a No. 2 receiver.
  4. He had better come to camp ready to play. I don't see him getting much a chance and if he's got anything he'd better show it in the first week or two or expect to be an early cut. Can't quite figure him out.
  5. My son and I own numerous properties in Albany. He does most of the work and handles tenants and it is a full time, but quite lucrative career. He also owned a restaurant in Saratoga operated it at a profit and is selling it to concentrate more on the real estate. The rental market (especially in Albany) is recession proof. Students need apartments, and people who are losing their homes in the terrible mortgage situation are needing a place to stay. If you think its just buying and collecting rent, think again. It is a lot of work and your have to have a knack for it.
  6. I don't know. The draft we just went through seems geared toward bringing down the pats, starting with taking the best cornerback available (Randy Moss deterrent) and getting help in the passing game. I do think 13th is a realistic and objective evaluation, but I'm hoping for a better finish than that, and tend to think we drafted with this year and this competition (the Patsies) in mind.
  7. Beaches? You want beaches? Caladesi Island near clearwater. Best beach in the world. You need a ferry to get there. And if you go you can erynthered for a grouper and beer at Frenchy's!
  8. They want to get rid of you, and this seems the most convenient way. Get a car. File a complaint of some kind. Sexual harassment, workers comp, disability or whatever. Then when they actually get around to their next pretext for firing you or "letting you go" to fire you scream "retaliation". Two can play the sneaky termination game.
  9. Former Bill not in the NFL...I'll go with Cookie Gilchrist for this year. He's a devastating short yardage fullback and one of the best blocking fullbacks (maybe Nick Pietrosante of Detroit was a better blocker, but he couldn't run like Cookie.) Whoa...with him and Lynch in the backfield...watch out!
  10. I think its a pretty realistic analysis. The receiver picks, strength on the d-line with Stroud and the heavier linebackers starting (and good and experienced backups), and our new corner maybe taking on the super receivers we run across (e.g., Randy Moss), and we should realistically look at ten. Hell..I could even see us winning more than that. But I'm clearly biased in the Bills favor.
  11. Euthanasia-1606, from Gk. euthanasia "an easy or happy death," from eu- "good" + thanatos "death." Sense of "legally sanctioned mercy killing" is first recorded in Eng. 1869 Somehow it doesn't seem all that easy or happy. Doesn't matter what you call it, but it was a necessary act.
  12. Rented a nice cottage on Marathon for a week, and drove into Key West. I liked the kayaking and water and peace of marathon and the partying in Key West. Economically Marathon is much cheaper, but kind of a lazy sun and water place.
  13. He seems a bit nutty for sure. Look...what is the purpose of a backup? To be ready to step in for the starter. Losman is certainly the best available person to fill that job. He has experience with the team, his statistics aren't that much worse than Edwards and he MAY actually press Edwards for the starting job. Edwards isn't thirteen years old and he knows that this is a business and there is always SOMEONE who wants his job. He'll deal with it. If Evans doesn't catch a pass for a month HE'LL be raising hell? Every fan in the Ralph will be raising hell and most of us on the board will be raising hell. Jerry do you think the answer is to have nothing on the bench to remedy the situation? Doesn't sound like a good plan to me. If Edwards doesn't get the job done it is possible that JP will start. I think Edwards will be much better this year and will in fact be our starter for some years. The more likely scenario is an injury that will put him out of contention for a few games, in which case JP will be the guy. JP has handled a difficult situation about as well as could be expected. If I saw him on tv every twenty minutes whining I'd say get rid of him. Being a team player and doing his best is what will work for him in free agency and what will work for us in the next year.
  14. Try adding about a half cup of vodka er aor gin to the shakes. You won't lose weight, but then you won't give a sh-- about it after a couple of shakes.
  15. Geez eryn...I ddidn't know you were such a literature buff!
  16. I agree. This is a "Randy Moss" pick. We have good CB's IMHOP but I speculate the Bills knew they needed at least one great CB to cover receivers like Moss twice in a year and guys like TO and Ocho Cinco who show up. Deep in my memory is Jabari Greer having very good coverage on Moss who used his size to catch a touchdown pass last year. Maybe this guy will be just the ticket for these big fast receivers.
  17. The new uniforms are okay, I guess, but I'm getting old and like the Jim Kelly era colors and think we ought to stick with them. I don't think the uniform colors are going to be the thing that wins us a superbowl though. Jauron is on the right track and he's got a few more personnel improvements (not many) to make before he worries about the uniforms.
  18. hey..that kurt vonnegut used to be married to goldie hawn wasn't he. He was that one-eyed guy in some neat movies too.
  19. Like duh...whores are whores. These guys make their bucks from the military industrial complex. The press should know better than to trot these guys out for $500 a pop when they are making literally hundreds of thousands of dollars (in some cases millions) from their military industry corporate employers not for their brains but for their good relationship with the Pentagon. The news people certainly knew what was what when they gave them face time, or they are more stupid than anyone could imagine. This war has been sold and packaged to us from the get go...just another brick in the wall.
  20. Believe me Simon, I've raised both...boys are a piece of cake compared to girls!
  21. Bingo...We have four areas of immediate need...maybe five if you include cornerback (I don't..but many do). I see us trading down and getting one of many quality wr's late in the first, a TE, DE and Center in the next few choices. I can go sooo far (although I'm not big on the idea) of drafting a can't miss corner if there is one available in round 2. Linebacker is looking pretty good just the way it is.

  23. The key isn't "wanting to win" I think its about actually winning. We gotta get a credible passing game to do that. You might "want to win" with a ballerina, a duck and truman capote. You're gonna actually do it with a running game a passing game and a very tough defense.
