  1. Wow if Limbaugh buys in will they have to start drug testing the owners? Limbaugh for oxycontin and Wilson for viagra?
  2. no. Nailing down left tackle would have been a good beginning. Drafting a quality right tackle (Oher) and the offensive line would have been pretty much solidified. Given more time I suspect TE would have been able to utilize Evans and TO in the vertical game or been benched. The running game would have been solid. DJ would have fixed the largest and most glaring hole on offense. But don't worry..Maybin will explode and be the next Bruce Smith in the next few games.
  3. 1. We are in the seventh circle of suck 2. We are in contention for the Vince Lombardsuck trophy 3. Buffalo Billy is being replaced with Suckbob Suckpants 4. Dick Jauron has a new book...the seven habits of Suckcessful football. oh well..been a bills fan since 1960. This too shall pass. Dan Darragh is looking pretty good about now.
  4. I have maintained that our very bad offensive line was all that was keeping us from the playoffs. I'm not interested in Wood and Levitre, who have been pretty good considering that they are rookies but the unit itself. There is a reason takeles are paid so much, particularly left tackles. I have to reassess the situation and concede like Bill in NYC that my initial assessment of TE might be over rated and he may not be a playoff quarterback. I'll watch him the next few weeks. I am convinced that DJ is not a good coach. I said as much when he was hired. Good coaches win and over time have a goodly number of playoff appearances. Our personnel decisions are miserable and it is showing on the field. We could beat a team to beat the Bills out of players we have let go from the bills in the last few years.
  5. There is probably a good reason they aren't signed. Face it, we knew we were in trouble at the tackle position ...big trouble...at draft time. There were five good tackles and we didn't go after the two that were available. The obvious choice, Michael Oher is doing a great job at right tackle for the Ravens and is being touted to move to left tackle. We went for a defensive end when we had good defensive ends.
  6. Jonathan Safran Foer...Everything is illuminated. Great movie. They did a movie of it, but the movie is not as good as the book. Abraham Verghese, Cutting for Stone. Very good novel.
  7. April 1966. I was a senior in high school (17) and it was her 16th birthday. Was at the Southside Bar on Se neca St. in South Buffalo, a friend of mine was with a band playing there. I was going to ask someone else to dance but as I walked up the band started to play and the girl I was going to ask turned away and I saw her. That was it..Norwegian Wood by the Beatles was the song. It was one vicious cold night and I walked her home. Figured if I was going to get THAT cold for any woman I ought to marry her.
  8. i think we need a whole housecleaning, including the general manager and coach. I'm not sure there is any point in doing it right now...this season is probably not going to be salvaged.
  9. If you'd like I suppose I could say" THE BILLS SUCK and the RAVENS ARE GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS on our dumb draft trade and acquisition policy." But that would be kind of painful as a lifetime bills fan.
  10. The point I'm trying to make is that winning teams (like the ravens) make good personnel decisions. Their first round draft picks actually play football, they draft to fill positions of need, and they make acquisitions based on ability to perform (not ability to perform a few years ago...ability to perform this Sunday). I'm kind of hoping someone in the Bills organization will take notes of what the Ravens have been doing. The argument was Ngata didn't "fit" into our 4-3 defense (the one that seems to be taking us anywhere but the playoffs) and that Oher was only going to be a "right tackle" -despite the fact that he made his rep. as a left tackle in the SEC...and is now being considered for a move to left tackle after a successful debut as right tackle based on the injury to the starting left tackle. I'm looking at players we let go (Jim Leonhard looked good...missed the Philadelphia game so I don't know if Jason Peters was better than the Bills tackle.) and wonder.
  11. not to disparage my own profession, but he looks sounds and acts like a lawyer to me. I'm going to watch it just hoping he gets boounced.
  12. The receiver Stuckincincy and I were touting who we could have gotten practically for free.... "Kelley Washington has caught 12 of 13 passes thrown in his direction - with the only exception occurring Sunday when he dropped a pass from Joe Flacco in the end zone in the second quarter. "I was hoping to be perfect, but we've got to make some more plays," And...gues who leads all nfl running backs and receivers with six touchdowns? Willis McGahee.
  13. hell...in for a dime in for a dollar. Play action pass to TO. The game is on the line, he's facing the end of a receiving streak, and the Saints are playing the sneak or the run.
  14. zyeah...te has PLENTY of time. I should have watched the game you were watching. Was it on the bizarro channel?
  15. tell you what...when the ball is hiked start counting. Unless TO can get downfield and open in about two seconds Trent Edwards will be running for his life or on his ass. Without an offensive line there IS no passing game. TO did drop a couple, so he isn't in the best position to blow smoke.
  16. oh well...the ravens seem to have the problem licked. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Wilson...uick-study.html I notice they are considering moving him to LEFT tackle since the present one is injured. Hmmm..I thought the geniuses thought he could only play Right tackle in the pros...despite his outstanding college career at left tackle.
  17. Being interested and making the call are two different things. Being interested gets you a place on the stadium wall. Making the call is what keeps you in a head coaching job. I just looked at that draft and we certainly got a bunch of good players out of it. Travis Henry, Nate Clements, Jonas Jennings, Schobel.
  18. I agree. I think when we look at the WHO rankings (admittedly older, but no indication our standing has gotten better) we rank first in the cost of medical care, life spans are not ranked all that high and quality of health care for all is not ranked high. Certainly the existing system isn't working efficiently. We got a lot of work to do, and the shrill rhetoric on the various sides of the issue isn't helping. And this from a master of shrill rhetoric!
  19. character and 1.50 will get you coffee at dunkin donuts. Won't help you on Sunday afternoon. I remember us picking Mike Williams first overall instead of Bryant McKinney. Great character pick. How many probowls has Mckinney been in?
  20. Is this optimist day? Bills 76-Saints 0 Ask me again tomorrow.
  21. I consider myself a realist..but on the other hand I can be a cinderellal, head in the clouds, watch out superbowl gushing with man love on mwf and turn around and say what the hell are we going to do without an offensive line, should have drafted actually good players, whiny B word on the other days. Kind of like Jekyll and Hyde...should be fun.
  22. ditto, and maybe the Bradshaw Steeler teams for the same reason. In hoops? La Lakers, and 60's celtics (Cousy, Russell, Sam and KC Jones, Tommy Heinson, Etc. would be competitive with the later Celts for the title. Baseball? The 50's yankees (Mantle, Maris, Ford etc.)
