  1. I'd take almost anyone over what we've had this decade. I just don't see Shanahan putting this team into contention. Didn't see Jauron doing it either.
  2. not a down year. Three down years...the last three years he coached.
  3. Oh..he had some good years, but the fact is that his recent history wasn't all that impressive. People generally get fired for a reason, and I suspect the Broncos figured MS's best days were behind him. I just can't get excited about a guy with the record he had in his last three years as a coach on board. I felt that way when we hired DJ and I particularly feel that way now after DJ.
  4. I hate to throw cold water but when DJ was hired I was concerned that he wasn't a winner, and that winning should show up on the resume of the person who came in as head coach. Now Shanahan had some great years (the Elway years) but the last three years at Denver were an average of 8-8 and miss the playoffs...and he was fired. Now unless something has happened in the interim we are looking to bring in another guy with a recent history of mediocrity hoping he will turn a mediocre or worse team into something good. I say unless someone has the next Elway up his sleeve, we had better look elsewhere.
  5. trenches out...that's the way to build the team. I hope they take note at draft time and in free agency.
  6. I agree with the Senator on this one. In fact I was touting Leach as a dark horse candidate when Jauron was hired. (winners being a somewhat better bet than losers). If Leach is on the outs at Texas Tech I could see him as head coach or as offensive co-ordinator. He has the mindset and experience that would work with a team that has little talent and a need to adapt.
  7. Chris Pollian. Got this from a friend I was just talking with as a possibility. He is trained under the master, good bloodlines. The next thing I would do...have Chris Pollian hire the next coach. The Bills are sure to screw it up.
  8. Difficult and expensive to build a playoff team out of what we have. Difficult and expensive isn't impossible...its just difficult and expensive.
  9. i'm not on board until I see who the GM and coach are. They had better show potential before I'm climbing onto the bandwagon. Jauron wasn't a very good choice at the time, and wasn't a winner from the get go. The Bills don't have a lot of credibility right now and they had better show me something before I'm getting on board.
  10. I think that for GM the person has to have worked in a successful operation. I'd try for Ozzie at the Ravens, then look through his staff for people who have adopted and know the Ravens system and philosophy. Scott Pioli of New England is another possibility. You need someone who understands winning and all it takes to get there.

  12. ozzie newsome from Baltimore. He knows player personnel and has done the best job in getting and keeping quality personnel of anyone in the game. We have had enough of the "Seasoned" pros. Those guys have had their day in the sun and are not going be charging into this situation with the energy that turning this around is going to take. Coach? Get a good solid offensive co-ordinator for a winning and offensively productive team. I would consider Charlie Wies if Notre Dame lets him go.
  13. I've been a Leach fan for years, but I really think he might be best as our offensive co-ordinator. If he gets dumped or wants to leave Texas Tech, this may work out.
  14. mike Heimerdinger of the Titans. Offensive co-ordinator and knows what he's doing. I think the GM pick will be the make or break decision for this team though.
  15. Kevin Colbert: Director of football operations for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He'll cost an arm and a leg, but its the right start. Coach: or..Ozzie Newsome Director of Player Personnel from the Ravens. Winners go with winners. Coach? Obviously an offensive guy. How about Mike Heimerdinger of the Titans?
  16. Suh is the only one of the three I would go for. I think if we don't get him we trade down and try to get another second round pick. There are some very good OT's and DT's late in the first round and the qb's left in the later second round (I think Case Keenum from Houston may come out and be available). We might walk into the third round with a stud Defensive Lineman an anchor at Left Tackle and a new qb. Nice start.
  17. Wow..the comments of Schobel, TO (I guess no surprise there) and total collapse will bode well for the Bills inthe draft. We will most likely be picking in the top 5 with the momentum (downward) working on our side. I suspect we will be so bad that we might want to trade down and pick up an extra second round pick, grab one of the better defensive linemen and a good offensive tackle and with the lower second round choice go for a QB. Sorry to be talking draft now...but the season is so painful. I wonder if the highlight film will be based on our bye week as that was the best we've played lately. looks like the wildcat finally got played with some success here.
  18. Timmy nightengale and Jimmy Cummings...two high school chums from S. Buffalo..USMC kia in vietnam in 68..you will be forever young.
  19. Exactly. He has to get good combine numbers and perhaps some play in the senior bowl or other all star game to move up from the fourth round.
  20. I stand corrected on Lamonica and "winning" the superbowl. Still he could make a good case for being the guy we should have for this team... from his wikipedia site. In 1967, Lamonica was traded to the Oakland Raiders with Glenn Bass for Art Powell and Tom Flores. In his first year with the Raiders, he threw for 30 touchdowns and ran for four more. In 1969, he threw for 34 touchdowns and more than 3,300 yards. It was in Oakland that Lamonica's passing acumen earned him the nickname "The Mad Bomber." With Lamonica, the Raiders won three straight Western Division titles and one American Football League Championship. The Raiders made one World Championship Game appearance with Lamonica as quarterback, losing to the Green Bay Packers, 33-14, in Super Bowl II. Lamonica threw for two touchdowns in the game. Lamonica quarterbacked the Raiders during the Heidi Game. Lamonica was a three-time American Football League All-Star and twice was selected as the American Football League's Most Valuable Player, in 1967 and 1969. Lamonica's last season in the NFL was 1974. Lamonica played for one season (1975) in the short-lived World Football League as quarterback of the Southern California Sun where in limited time he went 9 for 19 and gained 90 yards for 1 touchdown.
  21. When all is said and done...Lamonica led a team to victory in a superbowl...Kelly got there but never got the brass ring. Kemp never got there, losing to Kansas City in the AFL championship game. If one of the characteristics of a great leader is winning the superbowl, LaMonica is better than both of them.
  22. a lot easier than losing your life savings to a ponzi scheme. The bastard should be in Attica
  23. how about "the Mad Bomber" Daryl LaMonica? He had the better arm and actually won a super bowl....I guess he might be the guy for this team. I think he was a bit more mobile than Kelly as well.
  24. Reportedly Williams was contacted and his response involved Ralph doing something anatomically impossible and ended with some remark about "the horse you rode in on.."
  25. Actually he did get off easy. House arrest in a million dollar apartment and a cushy federal joint. http://law.rightpundits.com/?p=622 He has a lot better than those kids will.
