  1. oh come off it. I eat chickens and pigs and beef but I don't pretend that the animals aren't treated inhumanely by any standard, and far worse than Vick ever treated dogs. I'm not crying alligator tears and insisting Tyson be put in jail or that the fat guys eating sausages at the tailgate be set up as accomplices, but I jus t think its hypocritical to jump all over Vick for something bad he did and for which he paid the price. http://animalrights.about.com/b/2008/09/17...actory-farm.htm I would also recommend Jonathan Safran Foer's new book "Eating Animals" if you are so concerned about the way we treat animals.
  2. I appreciate the thought. Eric Berry is a top five pick in my opinion, but as I suspect you were pointing out...not the guy for the bills even if he falls to nine. Anthony Davis or Baluga are the two we should be hoping to get. Left tackle first.
  3. Hey...I'm old. I think Buddy and Chan are bad because they haven't shown they are any good. I'm less than impressed by their resumes to date. I thought the same about Dick Jauron. Hope I'm wrong and they have been hiding all the good stuff to pull it out in our 2010 superbowl run.
  4. Try East Tennessee...no income taxes, great medical facilities, Smokies and Blue Ridge Mountains, TVA Lakes, Mild Climate, A pro football team that humiliated the Bills in their last playoff game, great barbecue, Country music capital of the world. The rest of Tennessee isn't bad.
  5. yup...write those mortgages checks and watch Hurricane Katrina blow your investment away...See Harrington, Carr. How on earth is this even a question? First is there a franchise qb in the mix this season? NO WAY. Second, even if there were such a qb who is going to make it to #9 how quickly will that qb be making a difference with no pass protection? Third, a rookie qb facing first rate defenses and blitzes with no one to help is a sure way to insure a very short career. Great teams are built from the trenches back.
  6. I could care less what he did. He got charged with a crime for animal cruelty and went to prison. Try prosecuting the people who torture pigs, cows and chickens to make the crap on the tailgate grills. The question is whether the bills can get to the playoffs sooon. Most of our resources should be going to upgrade our offensive and defensive lines. If we can get Vick for Lynch (who isn't the nicest guy ever to wear an NFL uniform his own self) would upgrade the team immediately. We can draft our "franchise" quarterback some time in the next two years. In fact I'd rather we get Vick than McNabb (who I guess is a nice guy) as I don't think McNabb has the mobility to survive a good but developing offensive line with two rookie tackles. Vick makes a lot of sense to me.
  7. our biggest need bar none is left OT. Baluga or Anthony Davis will be available. Go for it. There will be tackles available in the second round as well and I wouldn't mind seeing us draft a right tackle in that round. Those picks could be the biggest improvement we could make to the team this year.
  8. That's what the senior bowl is about. He had a bad day on Tuesday, and you certainly aren't given a lot of bad days in this week. If he's going to impress he'd better do it soon. I'm not at all high on drafting a qb this year, so I'm not all that attuned to any of the qb's...The Sirius guys were touting him on Monday, but Tuesday is the first put up or shut up day, and he certainly failed to impress. He has time to show something, assuming he has anything to show.
  9. he's been the standout at the senior bowl to date. I suspect that he will make whatever claim he has to serious first day selection in the Senior Bowl, if at all. People like his mechanics, attitude and size and probably are not relying so much on his days at Central Michigan. If he keeps impressing there will be a lot of people reviewing Central Michigan tape in the next few weeks... I liked him in round 3 as an exception to my draft linemen mantra, but if he keeps going the way he does he'll work his way into round 2 at which point we will still be drafting linemen.
  10. I like Tebow. If he could play Left Tackle...I'd draft him in the first round. If he could play Defensive End or Right Tackle I'd take him in the second round. If he could play linebacker I'd take him in the third round. If he makes it to the fourth round, I'll take a flyer on him and play him at halfback, tight end or use him a lot in the wildcat. He ain't going to make it to the fourth round so I'm looking at more offensive and defensive linemen, thank you very much.
  11. didn't Gregg Williams come in and take a first rate defense based on a 3-4 and "convert" it to the 4-3 he was more comfortable with, resulting in Hansen retiring, and us not going to the playoff since. Before a coach comes in and makes major structural changes he might look where the major problems are (hint....OFFENSIVE LINE) and perhaps address that with the limited resources he will have with the draft or free agency. OR...he could jerk around the personnel we have in our existing 4-3 to play positions they never played, perhaps because they don't play them very well, and gerrymander a structure with the wrong personnel playing in the wrong positions and hope for success....kind of like we've been doing with the offensive line. Sounds like a plan to me! Fits right in with our philosophy over the last decade...plus ca change.
  12. I can't imagine why anyone would say that Buffalo was cold!!! what a base canard....he should be tarred and feathered.
  13. Given our injuries this year and the fact that we had two (very good by the way) rookie guards on the O-line, and good running backs (okay..marshawn didn't have a great year) have a great number 1 receiver, good number 3 receiver and a few guys ready to move into number 2, and given that our offensive line was porous...I don't think the existing offense is far from being able to make it into the playoffs if only one thing gets addressed...the tackle positions. We address those and everything on the EXISTING offense gets better. With better coaching (which I believe we have ...not a very high hurdle to jump over) we get 3 more wins and go to the playoffs. Add a better qb from free agency and who knows where we will go. Now..lets assume we get the qb to sit and learn for a year and leave the o-line. What is he going to learn from Ryan Fitzpatrick or TE? No pass game, no run game, no wins. I can buy the argument that we need to fix the defense to be better against the run, which is a compelling need to be addressed, but for the offense and the overall good of the team the O-line has to be addressed first and foremost. If the question is how we can become a playoff team in the shortest time, the answer is fix the O-line first.
  14. Exactly...and Ralph should do this while Cookie is still alive. Hell..I'll go farther and say that he should be given serious consideration for Canton. As to the Brown Gilchrist comparison, I think you might also factor in Gilchrist's blocking ability which is unmatched by any back in NFL or AFL history. Gilchrist MAY have been a better all round back than even Jim Brown.
  15. Actually I don't think he has scripture just the chapter and verse...kind of like a url.
  16. how about the "joe bowl" A game of all nfl players named joe....
  17. If the proven player is a left offensive tackle sure....if not pick the best OT available from the draft.
  18. Interesting possibility and I see your reasoning. Me, I'd take the best OT available at 9 (Probably Anthony Davis). If Davis is gone and Clausen or Bradford are there I'd be VERY tempted to trade down and take Beluga or Campbell.

  20. i must have missed your point. If this were a year when we had Kelly, Marino, Elway and a few other hall of famers in the draft I'd say go for it. I suppose when you have THAT chance you go for it. for that matter if Suh or Okong came to us I'd go for them as well. However for the purposes of this draft neither Clausen nor Bradford are in future hall of fame or even top ten (for most years) categories. If we had that o-line and were ready to go now Fitzpatrick would play better. The receivers would be much more productive. Jackson and Lynch would be running through defenses. We might make the playoffs. If we got a passable free agent or trade quarterback (even Michael Vick) we could be very good. We might draft a qb in round 3 (LeFevour looks good to me) who can sit and learn..but there will be good qb's in the next draft and we might want to get us a linebacker or defensive end to improve against the run. There isn't much qb talent out there and a rookie qb without an offensive line (D'Brick, Faneca, Mangold being drafted before Sanchez) isn't going to do much.
  21. A good LT and a good RT in the draft. Alittle depth in free agency and I think we'll have a pretty good o-line. It isn't all that hard to do.
  22. Dan Lefevour of Central Michigan was the most impressive qb? I'd keep an eye on him if he falls to round 3.
  23. I could care less about 1999. I'll believe Gailey can coach when I see Gailey coach. The win/loss record will tell me all I need to know.
  24. To start with..this is NOT a good year for qb's. there are three or four good offensive tackles for the first round. We NEED two offensive linemen...tackles. It would be nice to have another center, but the one we have is serviceable. Sounds like a no-brainer to me. Fix the offensive line, fix the defensive line, then next year find a qb, assuming none of them available to us now pan out with a serviceable offensive line. Drafting a qb right now would be the Joey Harrington David Carr route....only with a player not as talented as Joey Harrington or David Carr.
