  1. Chan and Buddy finally narrowed the pick for the new DC down to one, but were sadly disappointed to find their selection, a Tennessee guy...had chosen death over being designated defensive coordinator for the Bills....Buster Ramsey http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/20...653705341_x.htm Ramsey would have really brought some life to the defense as one of the founders of the fashionable 4-3 defense. He has familiarity with the Bills front office. In anticipation of the offer, and looking at the present situation of the Bills he chose rather to retire to his home in heaven where he will continue to follow his beloved bills.
  2. Remember however that the offense for OJ was BUILT for OJ. The receiver JD Hill recalled that when Saban interviewed him the issue was how he (a wide receiver) could block. The Electric Company, the game planning, the use of Braxton was never about the superbowl or even about the playoffs...it was all about getting OJ, which theoretically might get us to the playoffs. That being said he was probably the best running back (I think Cookie Gilchrist was the best back we ever had, but there isn't film enough to prove it.) of the NFL era that the Bills have ever had.
  3. Reed is not going to get in. He just doesn't have a Hall of Fame record.
  4. This is a pyss poor year for qb's and I wouldn't see either Clausen or Bradford as top ten picks in most drafts. In any event our crying desperate absolutely critical need for the the past x years is and has been THE OFFENSIVE LINE. Hence I think we'll pick a cornerback or safety.
  5. Preceded by Wade Phillips Buffalo Bills Defensive Coordinator 1998–2000 Succeeded by Jerry Gray Preceded by Mike Nolan New York Jets Defensive Coordinator 2001–2003 Succeeded by Donnie Henderson Preceded by George O'Leary Minnesota Vikings Defensive Coordinator 2004–2005 Succeeded by Mike Tomlin Preceded by Wade Phillips San Diego Chargers Defensive Coordinator 2007–October 28, 2008 Succeeded by Ron Rivera United Football League (2009) yEAH...he fits the skill. Nondescript 63 year old guy who was unable to hold a position for more than two seasons and was sent to the minors last year. Fits right in the staff Gailey is building.
  6. Geez you gotta be a freakin saint. Raised two pretty normal kids but they sure as heck caused an occassional snap here and there. And actually, not being perfect myself I probably inflicted an untoward snap fromtime to time myself. Hardly worth not talking to someone.
  7. 1. Brian Bulaga or Anthony Davis 2. Jason Pierre, DE South Florida 3. Ed Wang OT Virginia Tech Height/Weight: 6-4 5/8, 300 Wang is a fifth-year player who started his career at Tech as a tight end (Duane Brown, a first-round pick out of Virginia Tech in 2008, did the same). He moved to tackle during the 2006 season and has started at both right and left tackle. He is an athletic player with good feet and speed who is getting stronger. Wang's mother and father were members of the Chinese Olympic squad during the 1970s. He has good upside. 4. Rico McCoy, OLB, Tennessee (didn't think I'd take a pass on Tennessee did you?) 4
  8. That's good...because we don't give our qb's a pocket to pass from.
  9. nope...if he were successful he'd be playing, at Green Bay orhere. Do you think the coaching staff were so impressed with TE and Fitz that they wouldn't have put him in if they thought he could play?
  10. With the possible exception of McClain, none of the top five will fall to us at 9. Baluga and Anthony Davis are the two best left tackles who might fall to us and almost certainly one of them will be available. I don't see any justification for not picking one of them.
  11. I have read every post, and in my opinion there are four you pick'm choices. Kelly, Smith, Thomas, Shaw,Simpson. They are all in the hall of fame. Greatest player? Gilchrist, but three years, all AFL, no hall of fame. On the next level, Kemp, Sestak, Cribbs, and a passle of other very very good players. The Greatest would have to come from those in the Hall of Fame. My choice has to be Smith. The four superbowl teams had great offense, kelly, thomas, reed. The defense was outstanding but the greatest lineman was in a 3-4 with no major stars (okay Talley was close). I'll give it to Bruce.
  12. Kemp was considered to have one of the strongest arms in the game in his day, and LaMonica earned the nickname "The Mad Bomber". I loved Joe Ferguson and thought he was a terrific qb, but I don't know if he was considered to have a strong arm or not. I guess that covers pretty much all of our better qb's before Jim Kelly.
  13. Great minds think alike...this is pretty much the way I would call it as well, although I'd be happy with Anthony Davis OT Rutgers as a number one pick.
  14. I don't understand why we "don't need one there." Maybe you missed the last season and all of the sacks. NEWSFLASH We need one there. And the way the game is played we need a good one. As a general rule players chosen with the first pick tend to be somewhat better than players chosen with the second pick, the second one generally better than the third, etc. Now we can get one of the top three tackles in this draft at nine. No quarterback is looking to be a franchise player in this years draft, and even if one were, we'd still have to fix the o-line. We would improve this team by choosing two tackles with our first three choices and the best defensive end or linebacker available with the the other. I don't see a quarterback in the mix.
  15. If we win they buy tickets. If Vick comes and wins the stadiums will continue to be packed. Buffalo fans will not refuse to buy tickets because Vick is here. The issue is what will get us to the playoffs next year. First off. line and then defense bolstered at line and linebacker. A Vick for a late round draft choice sounds like a good gamble to me. I'd go for it.
  16. The greatest buffalo qbs did have outstanding arm strength. Kemp, Lamonica, Kelly. I guess limited arm strength for OUR weather conditions is a real sticking point. Too bad, in that I like Lefeover, but have to go with the rest who would pass on him for lack of arm strength.
  17. or if he didnt drop so many passes thrown right to him....
  18. Actually he also will naming Bill Parcells as OC and Belichick will walk away from the Pats to handle special teams. And Angelina Jolie and Carrie Underwood are going to be Bills Cheerleaders.
  19. They can chew tobacco, pick their noses and fail to wipe themselves for all I care as long as they fix the offensive and defensive lines and take us to the playoffs.
  20. look at the posted video. Its not exploitation, its torture. And it has nothing to do with food. Animals can be slaughtered in a more humane way but what happened in these factory farms goes way beyond anything michael vick ever did. I'm not taking the PETA side on this but any non vegans who are criticizing vick should look up the saying about glass houses and stones.
  21. I see where you are coming from as from all reports he is a remarkable athlete. I'm just not convinced the "moving gaurds to tackles" fix is going to solve our problems. If we could pick up a left tackle in free agencyand draft another tackle (the UMASS guy?) in the second round, it might be doable. I'm of the mindset that we go with Davis or Baluga at #9. If we went with either Iupati or McClain though I think I might understand the choice.
  22. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/foot...sday/index.html I was hoping to see some tackles mentioned, and I guess the kid from UMASS is showing up pretty good.
  23. Yeah...if you're into that kind of thing.. Actually when I moved here I was going through a divorce and needed to be alone so I rented a cabin in the mountatins to be alone and think. One day a beat up old truck came up my road and out came the biggest fattest ol boy you ever saw. Overalls, corncob pipe, unshaven, teeth missing and smelled like hell. "Welcome neighbor, want to invite you to a party over at my place on Saturday night." I was inclined to say no, as I wasn't in a partying mood. The guy then said."It will be a great to do...drinkin, eatin, gamblin, dancing, fighting and fyckin all night long." I was somewhat intrigued so I said "OK..what should I wear?" He says..."Doesn't matter...it'll be just you and me!">
  24. you lost me. How on earth can you say Clausen or Bradford are possible (probable?) above average qb's? I don't see anything about them that would even put them in the top ten players in most drafts. I love this talk about one of them being a franchise guy. I would be more interested in the perennial all pro (McClain) versus the much needed left tackle (Davis or Baluga) I" do for the tackle, although I probably wouldn't whine too much if we took mcclain and drafted two tackles with 2 and 3
