  1. eric berry or joe haden....not that they aren't very good and deserving of a first round pick for someone who has the need....its just that we don't need them. I'm a believer that LT is essential, but frankly I won't be too disappointed if they go for Orlando McLain or an exceptional Defensive Tackle. I think it would be a mistake to go for Clausen or Bradford, but I wouldn't cut my throat if we went for them. Tebow would be very very hard to accept as a #9 pick. We have lots of good choices at 9. Somehow we have made too many bad choices so I don't want to jinx it by proposing an "ideal" bad choice.
  2. yeah...parcells even got stuck with Dansby this year and seems to know nothing about the importance of sitting on your stands and hoping your team plays better. I'd like to see a jerk like him coach against the Bills in a really big game just once!!!!!!
  3. holmgren doesn't know beans about football. The way to build a team is to sit on your hands and do nothing and hope you get lucky in the draft. Anyone knows that....
  4. I understand Belichik is giving him a serious look. Hmnnn....Parcells, Holmgren and Belichik (do something to get better)strategy versus the nix/gailey (sit on your hands) strategy...I wonder which one will be more effective?
  5. I'm starting to wonder about Davis. The "intangibles" include not being ready for his pro day and a pretty lethargic attitude about the combine et. al. Red flags are starting to show up on this guy...who was my favorite for this pick until recently. I'm not quite sure about this guy.
  6. I think I've figured out the strategy for the buffalo bills. The present admin is looking at Miami signing Dansby, the efforts of Holmgren in Cleveland carelessly discarding dead wood and bringing in free agents and trading, and are laughing up their sleeves at those no-nothings (Holmgren and Parcells). They have a better strategy.... 1. DO NOTHING...if you don't do anything the team will automatically get better, because they have to. Ok..we did bring in a tackle from the oakland raiders who is good at getting penalties, and we did bring in Kelley Washington (a move I liked, but nobody is thinking he is even of Josh Reed's caliber as of yet.) 2. TELL PEOPLE YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL IN ONE YEAR. This will be very effective for this year. Next year we will switch to the new mantra that you can't do it all in two years. 3. DRAFT TIM TEBOW or BRADY QUINN---whooops--jimmy clausen. By the time the quarterback busts you can blame it all on the fact that the quarterback was a bust (See...Losman, JP, Edwards, Trent, Collins,Todd, Johnson R.) We have the situation under control....
  7. The ONLY guy worth giving up draft picks for buffalo to draft is Suh...and I can't even imagine how many first or second round picks it would take to get him. I think we stay where we are and get the best OT that falls to us of the five blue chippers in the pool this year.
  8. I've always heard it was the Knights of Columbus that was the moving force to putting Under God into the pledge, so I guess we are all pledging to a Roman Catholic God, in case we wondered which God was getting all the pledges. I'm catholic, so wtf...I'm kind of happy seeing protestants acknowledge the pope.
  9. The bottom line is that this year's crop of qb's is very very weak. We might want to take a flyer on one in the third or fourth round, but considering that the top of the pile would be very late first round or even second round picks most years, looking to find a savior in this group is not a wise move.
  10. I suspect building the offensive line and then the new defensive line going to the in vogue 3-4 has to be first on the agenda. There were opportunities in free agency that were bypassed...but that is water under the bridge. Now the key is to draft wisely from a truly exceptional group of offensive tackles in the first and again in the second or third round. We should be able to fill a couple of other holes in the offense. I think our problem coming up will be keeping our better players around, and that is where Nix is going to have to be very pro-active. I haven't seen any evidence of it in the present administration yet...but its early.
  11. The OT group is truly remarkable this year. Four maybe even five close to blue chip first rounders and there will be some very impressive tackles in rounds two and three. I see us drafting an OT with our #9 pick and probably picking up a second tackle in round 3 or 4. If LeFevour is there in round 2 we MIGHT take a flyer on him, but I think many on this board would be more inclined to grab a DT or OLB with that pick.
  12. Whoa...I think Johnson played a very good game especially considering the pass rush and our dilapidated o-line. However, that being said, I think Flutie being more mobile would have been more productive. Johnson played an excellent game and I'm not a Rob Johnson fan...but he looked terrific in this game.
  13. For the first time since the actual game I watched the Bills/Tenn. game and had some thoughts. 1. From the get go both starting offensive tackles for the Bills were hurt and Johnson was running for his life. There were three of four actual sacks early in the game. Reinforced my belief that without a good offensive line anchored by quality tackles you are going to have a heck of a time trying to establish a passing game. 2. We probably should have run more. Thomas was still Thomas and Antowain Smith would have been more effective with more carries. 3. I can see why we fired DeHaven. 4. Not to stir up old wounds, and admitting that Johnson didn't play a bad game given what little protection he had, but I think we'd have been better off with the more mobile Flutie and his style of play in that game. 5. Goes without saying....the throwback was a forward pass and should have been called back.
  14. The only sure thing NOT being there is Okung, although some folks seem to think even he might last til 9. I was a big Davis guy, but watching this and the comments from the posters who followed him at Rutgers I'm sensing some serious red flags about work ethic. Baluga, Trent Williams and maybe even Campbell might be the better choice for us.
  15. Dansby could have filled a need. And he's a good player. And he's relatively young. Parcells is no fool and he knew who was going to add value to the Dolphins. You'll get two chances to see him next year. That is one obvious player we should have gone for.
  16. I don't know...let's watch him when he comes to buffalo and find out. My problem with understanding this is that he is so gentle with defensive linemen.
  17. She was magnificent in Precious. I suspect she will lose weight (didn't Jennifer Hudson lose weight to do Breamgirls) over time and will probably have a pretty good career. Fat people get picked on by bullies...we saw it in the movies and we see it Stern...hard hearted world out there.
  18. yeah we just signed Cornell Green...he beats up women, but leaves the dogs alone. We will be fine with Trent Edwards or Fitz, I suppose...but I would have much rather had Vick myself.
  19. All those penalties were not "bone headed mistakes"? I guess he just committed them out of kindness, I suppose?
  20. hmmm...we had a young right tackle who got too many penalties and had trouble blocking...so we signed a 34 year old right tackle who got too many penalties and had trouble blocking? Sounds like a character guy....and to think some of you complained about the possibility of signing Vick. http://www.metrowny.com/blogs/archives/375...-75b0xw00d.html
  21. Green, 34, has been entrenched at right tackle for the Silver & Black the last three campaigns, tallying 38-starts. His unstable play and tendency to rack up penalties has been one of the major issues along the trenches for the Raiders. The Bills have a need along the offensive line and Green is one option that won’t be pricey and that has starting experience. Gee don't we already have a poor offensive right tackle who gets a lot of penalties? Hmm..domestic violence charge, assault charge at an airport.... The RAIDERS are happy to get rid of him? Nice job Buddy...
  22. She gave unquestionably the best performance. Still I think her speech was very inappropriate and bad-hearted. As to films this year that were really award worthy...Hurt Locker was definitely there as was Avatar, Single Man, Crazy Heart and, in my opinion, Inglorious Bastards. The other five were not worthy, even the Blind Side. I say this even though I like Michael Oher (more if we had drafted him) and Sandra Bullock. Bullock was a weak performance for an Oscar, but her speech was wonderful. She has a place on Tybee Island where I go quite a bit and she is really liked by everyone there.
  23. yup...nut you don't win in gambles unless you lay down a bet. I didn't see buddy doing anything in free agency except play the nickel slots. Hopefully he'll do better in the draft.
  24. Riiiiight....Dansby isn't worth a run. I guess we should have known because Bill Parcells knows so little about football talent. In any event we really don't need a linebacker because we are going to a 3-4 defense where it isn't very important to have good linebackers? Face it. The result of free agency for the bills is the loss of a couple of fair to good players and getting nothing in return...But Buddy has said it can't be done in one year. He's right...if he isn't doing anything it might take ten or fifteen years!
